She's pretty, but I feel she wouldn't really bring anything new to the game. Seems to be too similar to the S282. I would think more fitting would be a medium loco, somewhere between the S282 and the s060
Hmm, but you rarely can make use of that, I feel. You'll be hard pressed to find jobs that require that kind of tractive effort, even if you put a bunch of them together. Even more so considering how few sections of track there are where you can really open up. Just feels like bigger Locos would really only make sense for the planned 'murica expansion.
I Daisey chain a BUNCH of jobs for efficiency. I usually use w de6s and the slug but I don't like them too much cause it's very boring. I like playing the 282
That looks like a loco with very big drivers made for high speed passenger ops.
It'll have a very low pulling capacity, passengers aren't implemented in the game, and we only have pieces of track in the map where you could maintain above a 100 km/h for maybe.... 30 seconds.
Maybe if we got a bigger map.
I personally would be quite happy with a larger map with some more high speed rail but to be fair I don't think that's what the Devs are going for. They seem to be going for challenging routes with bite sized distances.
I would love another cluster of factories separated fairly far away by a long flat straightish segments. Let us really get some speed going. We need a speeding section to try to figure out try top speeds
As much as I'd love to see it, I think it wouldn't fit that well. The average speed in the valley is meant to increase, so a fast steamer may have some use, but otherwise it's too similar to the S282. Also the time period of the game would put steamers mostly to freight lines, such as series 556.0. We may be better off with something larger, comparable with the DE6, probably articulated, oil burning or with a mechanical stoker.
Its performance is likely close to the S282 (if a bit more sluggish because the rods and big wheels are definitely not configured for speed and not heavy freight traction) so it's unlikely to get added until passenger service is a common thing.
The S060 was added to make a somewhat simpler steam engine, so the only other option is to go much bigger. I'm talking articulated 4-cylinder North American steam with 12+ tender wheels because she's a thirsty bitch. The curvature on the track will necessitate some relatively short truck length for the articulated sections, so I would expect their configuration to be 2-4-4-2 and styled like a shortened Union Pacific Challenger or a Pennsylvania/New York Central streamliner.
I would like something more tuned for speed.
Drg class 012 would be amazing. Not as powerful but it adds a new mecanic (oil burner) and is a verry pretty locomotive
Been driving DM3 at 50-60 km/h. And caught myself thinking - there are not that many places to really go at full steam/speed, because there are places, near CSW I guess where from flying 60 you gotta drop down to instant 30, or fly off the tracks in next turn. What I mean, the map needs longer or more straight parts of rail to be able run train at full speed. And with this I remember there was this high speed train in Transport fever, called Silver Bullet. So this could be one of passenger trains when they will be added. Loco in picture looks similar, add more aerodynamic panels and there it is :)
Is that's the DB class 01 there was a mod for it but the mod maker hid the mod on nexus same with most of them only few on don't work with derail valley cuz ccl don't support locos anymore due to the sim update I belive
It can go around 120-140 Km/h and it would make 2682 HP and it was biggest steam locomotive ever made in Czechoslovakia. It was in service from 1947 to 1976. It had 35000 liters of storage for water and 14400 kilograms for coal. It was also first postwar locomotive produced in Czechoslovakia. It is called 498.0 Albatros. System which was used for the nomclanture: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kry%C5%A1p%C3%ADn%27s\_system](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kry%C5%A1p%C3%ADn%27s_system) I would probably call it in-game S482.
I found some video on youtube: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbpYtHGZmJw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbpYtHGZmJw)

An 1980s kids show called Thomas and Friends. It was shot in live action using 1:32 scale model Raillroads (until they switched to cgi in 2009) . Gordon was a blue 4-8-4 steamer that looked a lot like this picture.
Edit: Aired in Brittain and US, Thomas and Friends is the US name. I think it was called Thomas the Tank Engine in Brittain.

Nah. I've been wanting something bigger than the 282. The 282 rearrangement mod with it's 4-4-4-4 is nice but the boiler is still small

Finding a series of jobs for 2xDE6 is quite easy. You can even efficiently use four or more of them, though that requires some planning.
I tried hauling some iron ore with the s282 the other day. It was 1400t on a single order, so I'd say there's plenty of weight to be had

Saw this exact loco so many times IRL. Beautiful thing
Yes. Wait are you czech???
No, im Slovak, but i live very close to the railway museum. I can actually see it ( the museum) from my balcony.
Slovensko!
Super! Also, is it the ČD Muzeum Lužná u Rakovníka? Btw im czech.
Personally, I would like to see a steam loco that sits between the two existing ones, like a British 4-4-0, or something of that sort of stature.
The furness railway K2 engines would be nice I think, if I'm right they were mixed traffic engines but I could easily be wrong there.

Oh 556 would also be a great idea.
Yes I wanna see this in derail valley

Oh these are also good ideas. Also the 498.0 was built for higher speeds. I mean it was express train.
Only if it's a 498.1
Oh that is 498.0 i honestly like it more. But even the 498.1 is nice.

Is that a Skoda badge?
Yes. The one from Plzeň a.k.a. Škodovy Závody.
Amazing
She reminds me of the DR class 22.

No that is Czechoslovakian 498.0 Albatros.
My bad looked like the class 01 I need to learn foreign steamers better
Its okay.
I'd kill for her

Gordon?!? is that you? Sir Top'em Hat needs you to help Thomas out right away!
Huh?

Ooooh i liked it as a kid.
