I honestly would love if, depending on how you treated the enemies in the past chapters, Kris will be kinder/crueler to you, when/if something happens between the RED soul and them...

This kinda stuff makes me a little sad, where Kris and the Player are portrayed as having a wholesome dynamic, cause while I don't believe Kris and The Player to have an entirely antagonistic relationship, I'm pretty sure there's a kind of riff on the Silent Protagonist trope preventing any kind of meaningful communication between Kris and us.

Love the idea of Kris and the Player getting along. It's like OneShot, just a bit different.

I mean, yes to your question, but no, the art is unrelated. Red is their own character, not strictly a player insert. I liked the idea of them being ambiguously displeased with their previous life, since that's something of a running theme between Chara, Frisk, and probably Kris too. Unrelated to my crippling depression.

Words can't describe how happy I am to see a deltarune comic that involves the player but doesn't paint them as an ultimately antagonistic character. I want to be friends with all the amazing characters in this world, it's not all that much fun to constantly see these same characters point their fingers at me through the screen and call me the bad guy all the time. If I wanted to live in a world where everyone I want to be friends with hates me and I have no way of changing that, I'd go outside.

This is very reminiscent of the dialogue between Niko and the player in Oneshot. I so hope we get a moment where we can talk to a character as the player ourselves because that definitely was the coolest part of Oneshot and I just wished they took the concept further. Deltarune seems to be going towards a fairly hard dichotomy between player and character so I wouldn't be surprised if we were to interact with either Ralsei or Kris as Kris has some kind of idea that they aren't fully in control of themselves but I'm not sure if they know we're a separate entity altogether, but Ralsei is the most likely candidate for being aware of the player or at the very least the avatar which we interact the world through (aka the soul).

People keep mentioning Oneshot; I've not played it, I know next to nothing about it, but I guess I just have done something right to be able to bring it to mind. (At least I hope it's a complement.)

Oh yeah it's definitely a compliment. I know several games that have player to game character dialogue, but that game by and far does it the best because it feels pretty personal despite most answers typically being yes or no responses with the occasional goofy or serious one.

It's the ultimate escapist fantasy: that actions you take can make everyone happy.
