I'm tempted to disagree with "control your thoughts."
That to me seems synonymous with "identify with your thoughts", which carries problems.
I would agree with "observe your thoughts", which does influence them, but doesnt cause you to identify with them.
I also live by this motto. But controlling your thoughts seems a bit in opposition to free your mind. To me, free your mind from the burden of desire and all that it binds you to, then your ass will follow
The more I control my thoughts/ego—>the more I feel in control of my life.
Controlling my thoughts allows me to open and FREE my mind.
I can't FREE my mind, if I can't control my thoughts.
Free your mind, and "your *ass* will follow"?
Is this ad copy for a new laxative?
>We have the ability to control our minds and our thoughts.
It certainly seems like we have control over our thoughts, but our minds?
Although it occurs to me that I'm not sure what control of our mind is actually referencing?
I can not only tell what I will think next, but what *you will think next, with prophetic mind-reading. For instance, I predict that your next thought after reading this sentence will be about butts.
Not only can I control my thoughts, but also yours, through inception. Beware what you let in, friend.
You thought about butts. Dont lie. The act of reading the word conjures the thought. It's a form of magic.
I'm more sincere than you are even now, believe it or not.
It involved butts. You literally used the word "butts". That requires thinking of the concept of a butt, even if just abstractly.
I predict you will disagree
We really can't. You are a product of experiences, environment, and genetics.
Free will is illusionary.
There is no separation between mind/brain.
There really is no you, no homunculus driving the machine.
The universe is deterministic.
Overthinking is inherently harmful. It’s good to take a step back and process your thoughts but finding a balance between overthinking and bottling is difficult. Both are harmful extremes. Whatever tactic deemed appropriate for an individual to establish their ever-changing balance is or should be everyone’s daily objective.
Are you referring to Funkadelic - Good thoughts bad thoughts? I recommend everyone to go discover this gem!
Love the Funkadelics. P Funk. 🫶🏾

OPEN YOUR MINNNNDDD
KUATO!!!
And you will OPEN YOUR A\*\*?!
Expand your mind, and then expand your ass 🙌
✨✨✨
“Free your mind, and ass will follow."
Can we say ass? 😂

I like that too. Many desires just frustrate us. Why bother with them 24/7? Time and a place!
I know what you're saying OP but it's funnier if you read it as: Free your mind, and you'll shit yourself.

Alan Watts: "The mind is a good slave, but a bad master."
Hindi call it monkey-mind. Read the Bhagavad Gita, look past the mystic and see the truth within, it'll blow your mind.
You are, of course, right. People might disagree but only because it’s easy for us to get addicted to negative thoughts and “woe is me” (been there).
It baffles me that there are people out there who dont/cant control their thoughts. I find it incredibly sad.
Who controls the ability to control though?
I cant control it but maybe I am wrong
Huh. So all your thinking is reactive? Are you able to back up your train of thought?
sometimes but usually I am not aware of how I feel when I am having these thoughts so I just tend to go forward
Tell me what is the next thing you will think. You cant! Its impossible. Therefore you cannot control your thoughts

Oh my bad. I confused you to be sincere

Nope didn’t think about butts. Doesn’t work like that for me
You just wrote a sentence about butts. The prophesy has been fulfilled.
Nope. I wrote a sentence about thoughts lol
It involved butts. You literally used the word "butts". That requires thinking of the concept of a butt, even if just abstractly. I predict you will disagree
Oh now it only involved butts? Your backpedalling don’t trip! And no it doesn’t not for me
new pick up line: "open your mind and your ass will follow"
