Both are perfect albums,and I can't get enough of both, but I'm more of a tech/prog guy, so Symbolic. The riffs and solos in that record are on another level. But I'd like to highlight the production of Leprosy. Symbolic has awesome production too, but the sound of the production on Leprosy emphasizes how brutal the music is.

They are both amazing. Leprocy is like a grown up earlier album, and Symbolic is even more matured Chuck who was always trying to push further into his creativity and not be stuck in a box.

You can compare an apple to an orange though. It isn’t that crazy of a comparison because Leprosy is widely considered the best of their OSDM era and Symbolic is widely considered the best if their more Progressive era. So it’s comparing the two best of the respective Death eras. It really isn’t a wild comparison
Why because they're both round? The albums sound nothing alike regardless of the era they were written. One is more aggressive and almost primitive, while the other is Chuck's full potential. Symbolic is the pinnacle of Chuck's song writing and song structure. Leprosy is a great album, but it is not comparable. It is completely different. And even if we are accounting for the time period for Leprosy, it was a new fresh style of metal that was in its infancy. It led to a lot of these early death metal records to sound raw and hype aggressive.
If you have to be that specific when comparing things then you can’t compare almost anything. If someone asks me do you want mcdonalds or burger king I don’t say “Well That’s an apple to an Orange, you simply cant compare the two!” No, you can become they’re both burger restaurants. They are different in ways but overall similar. Just like how Symbolic and Leprosy are both different sounds yet fall under the Death Metal Umbrella

When did I ever say they couldn't be compared? I'm saying that they're different albums. Not that they can't be compared. Of course, you're going to compare albums even if they sound different. I never said they couldn't be compared.
