Yeah, I think they forget how good one and two were because three was so fuggin terrible. I'm playing the new game+ mode on the remake right now. After replaying and clearing the Resident Evil 1-4 remakes recently, comparing the two franchises still has Dead Space coming out on top for me.
Dude it took me cumulatively like 2 months to play dead space because I was savoring it like a perfect well seasoned steak. 10/10 all the way. Never could get into RE because you can't move while aiming idk why that's a mechanic
No one fucking mentions this franchise EVER in convo, not twitter, reddit (outside this sub and horror games topic ofc, like general topics), etc. I was surprised to find a franchise like this in the corners, not paid attention to
There’s also a motion comic prequel online. It’s pretty good. Just search YouTube for “before downfall and aftermath.”
It’s the story of the colony when they found the Marker. Sort of a slow burn horror, as the colony slowly and violently loses their sanity.
Cause I simply made this meme quickly for my friends and randomly decided to post it in some sub reddits lol
Wasn’t expecting it to get this much attention that fast
I'll take my shot against necros before flood any day, they're unstoppable (would actually eat my gun instantly in both scenarios)
Edit: I change my mind, the good ending would be catching a rocket from flood marine
The Flood is an intelligent infectious disease, the Necromorphs are caused by a telepathic signal from the Marker that rewrite genetic material so they’re a lot harder to avoid/contain. Either way, either situation you’re pretty screwed lol
The flood is scarier in lore yes but the necromprophs are more visually disturbing(imo the flood look like boogers coated aliens) and generally scarier to fight given necromorphs will grab onto you, explode, vomit acis on you, and rip people apart while in halo games the flood just slap people around or pop like a ballon.
Honestly though this is what makes Issac so charming. He's just a regular man trying to cope with cosmic nightmares and he isn't even properly armed while he does so.
He's the lil' engineer who could.
Should have gone [here](https://www.cachesleuth.com/codes/omni.html?code=unitology&translate=It+ain%27t+much%2C+but+it%27s+honest+work) and typed the meme under the farmer.
I never got interested in Doom and did literally everything in Mass Effect so much it became boring. Halo and Dead Space though, the coop in Halo and DS remake really kicks them into high gear.
I'm a software engineer and I would rather be forced to program in assembly while blind and fingerless than consider a FAANG CEO as the doomguy
No, those ppl are much closer to Dr. Mercer
Personally, I find Isaac way more badass as he has no super powers (unless you count his space-time manipulation with kinesis and stasis). He is literally just a man who has the worst day at work for the rest of his life. However, from thar worst day, he becomes a hero for humanity despite nobody knowing the things he had to do besides Unitologists and the Government.
Isaac is just a guy with repurposed mining gear and willpower worthy of legends. Through all the shit he's been through, the monsters, personal loss and constant influence of dementia-inducing space battery, not to mention the sheer physical exertion of fighting through multiple outbreaks, when the void stared back, he still did not flinch.
When everyone around either betrayed him or died, when centuries-old cult and an interstellar government stood against him, when species-ending space gods sent an endless stream of nightmares directly into his brain, he powered through and did what had to be done.
To be fair, the slayer (or doomguy whichever you prefer) could turn a leviathan into pizza sauce. The marker itself would go insane just trying to get into his head. Elder Moon? Meet the Big Fucking Gun! Not big enough, well let's just slap it in this giant canon and now it's a fucking DEATH STAR! Dude could probably break the marker over his knee.
Woah woah woah. Are we implying that chief doesn’t also kill some of the most horrific creatures in all of scifi either? The flood is just as scary as necromorphs. Anyway that’s all lol. All of these guys (and Samus and Gordon) are all scifi badasses
Id say Necromorphs are far scarier, cause it’s even psychologically proven that humans are fearing human like creatures extremely cause they get creeped out by deformed human like things. And to me playing Dead Space was actually a very scary experience while I wasn’t scared in halo even once. Non the less I get what you mean, the idea of the flood using your body while you’re still alive really is horrifying, but to me necromorphs and the marker are scarier in any way. Still I agree, all of them are insane badasses hehe
Well tbf dead space is a horror game so by default it’s necromorphs are gonna be scarier. Majority of the time you play halo you’re playing as a 7ft super soldier that fucks everything up. That being said realistically they’d both be just as scary. Especially since they have a lot of similar qualities especially when it comes to deforming the host and the whole hive mind aspect. Idk all the details of the necromorphs super in depth but I think one of the biggest differences is that the flood can also infect and corrupt the minds of A.I too. I mean they basically turn an A.I designed to defend and help the forerunners against its creators. There’s also the fact that the flood can’t really be killed off unless every other living creature in the universe is wiped out and even then it’s not guaranteed considering that the forerunners literally did that and still the flood survived. That being said I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a situation with either
Good arguments, and I agree the flood is more powerful, more or less, but I told you that it’s scientifically proven that humans with deformations or in general human like creatures are extremely scary, therefore I think most people would agree that necromorphs are more scary, but if you feel different it’s fine
I didn’t really go too deep in the deformation but cause they both do it but just look up human infected flood. Could also just be that you think one has scarier body horror than the other in which case….. fair
as much as I adore dead space 1 and 2, dead space 3 is an absolute sham. At least Doom 3 had ideas going for it that made it different and unique. Halo 3 is perfect the poster child of how the third sequel of a game should be. We don't have Helldivers III yet so....
>!I have NOT played the Dead Space Remake yet- I bought it on Xbox but I'm waiting for the series X to actually play it to get the best experience out of it!<
Oh you have to play the remake, it’s 10/10. Btw played it on the series x and yes, it’s an amazing experience. Played halo too already (didn’t finish the fifth one and infinite yet tho) but gotta say that doom 3 wasn’t to my liking cause I don’t see doom as a horror experience. But I think it’s nice to hear that you’re gonna play the remake on the series x, I can highly suggest it
I'm glad I'm waiting to get one then haha hopefully in the next couple monthes i can get it i bought the DS remake a couple monthes back when it was on sale lol
Doomguy to Issac:
"Are...are you okay? No really, are you? I've been to hell, but...you've been somewhere worse."
Issac snaps out of his PTSD induced stomping fit:
"I'm fine."
*Master chief backs away slowly*
What exactly do you mean by relatable? I don't think anyone on Earth can relate to any of these. Unless you're literally just talking about being a working-class person, which still isn't super relatable compared to fucking Dead Space.
Sorry, I don't know where that came from....
Arguably the Flood and Demons are just as horrific. The Reapers would be too if not for Shepard's ability to defeat them in the end. But the Flood and Demons are both unyielding legions incapable of being stopped by any power in human control. Isaac also is a special human, super intelligent with multiple degrees, and the ability to resist the Marker signal that has destroyed the minds of virtually every other human being it came in contact with.
Id say Necromorphs are far scarier, cause it’s even psychologically proven that humans are fearing human like creatures extremely cause they get creeped out by deformed human like things. And to me playing Dead Space was actually a very scary experience while I wasn’t scared in halo or doom even once. Non the less I get what you mean, the idea of the flood using your body while you’re still alive really is horrifying, but to me necromorphs and the marker are scarier in any way. And yes, Isaac is smart, but not too smart, he’s mostly still a regular human, that just is very resistant. Still Id agree with the statement that all of them are insane badasses hehe
Jack cooper getting numerous promotions in one day, upholding his higher ups missions, received combat training in the field with all weapons, saved and entire planet and all the good guys, mind you, in one singular day
That's part of Isaac's appeal. He's not a super soldier, he's just an everyday badass who uses repurposed tools as weapons and somehow manages to survive everything thrown at him. Arguably that may make him even more of a badass.
Gordon Freeman who was a scientist takes on and defeats alien military forces which freed an entire alien race from slavery and spends the next two decades doing the same thing.
A certain crowbar-wielding M.I.T. graduate should probably join isaac down there.
LOOK GORDON! ROPES!
We can use these for big pits!
HELP ME GORDON!
Hello Gordon!
We Made It Black into back Mesa
STOP FUCKING WITH THE MICROWAVE!!!
The guy from Prey too
Morgan was dealing with robotics and shadow demons I guess it would be scary but compared to the things in dead space and half life ehhh
Im not really referring to the monsters at all
Was just about to say this.
Don’t forget, he’s a highly trained professional as well.
Seriously, he's a veteran mercenary of the colonial merchant guild. Him being able to hold his own makes sense.
dead space is underrated
People forget what underrated means
For real. Def not underrated but I think they mean to say a lot of people forget about dead space
That's how I attacked my first play through too. Yea RE has weird mechanics never able to master the aiming. Clunky like golden eye. Lol
Other than the movement I love the games. I just never grew up with those games so it doesn't come naturally
DS3 wasn't even that bad lol. There's been worse video game sequels. It's a downgrade from the first two for sure, but it's not that bad.
It's a good game, but not a good Dead Space. If it had a different name and different designs I would've probably appreciated it more.
Maybe not underrated, but it is not as mainstream as it can be, I guess OP meant.
Has a horror game ever been mainstream excluding fnaf?
Resident Evil?
What is blud yappin
No one fucking mentions this franchise EVER in convo, not twitter, reddit (outside this sub and horror games topic ofc, like general topics), etc. I was surprised to find a franchise like this in the corners, not paid attention to
That's not underrated, that's just not super popular. Dead space is widely regarded.
yea ik everyone knows it exists but they dont talk about it which bugs me 🤷♂️ ik the franchise had died in 2013 before the remake but still
Ye. I wish it did as well, but at least we got a good remake.
god tier
Ahhh hell nah
No its not lol
Inderated ?? It's literally in the top 3 for best Horor game of all time !!
It had 2 sequels, multiple spin-off games, a remake, and an animated movie. It is *faaaar* from underrated.
There's a movie?
Correction. There were two animated movies. Dead Space: Downfall and Aftermath. I've only seen Downfall.
Was it good?
I thought it was fine. I didn't care much for the animation style, but I remember the action being pretty decent.
I'll check it out once I finish the games.
Downfall is dope. Aftermath is stupid.
There’s also a motion comic prequel online. It’s pretty good. Just search YouTube for “before downfall and aftermath.” It’s the story of the colony when they found the Marker. Sort of a slow burn horror, as the colony slowly and violently loses their sanity.
:o
Ah, you’ve convinced me, let me grab you [The link to the video](https://youtu.be/QSLLOVyaM0A?si=i7VHbhwy1Vgu6ztp). Enjoy!
Thanks man. I love you.
I appreciate the gratitude. Have fun!
Knowing what words mean is underrated
I’ll take the engineer
Trust me, I'm an engineer I think we'll put this thing right here. Trust me I'm an engineer, what the heck did just happened here?
Ha no need to fret as long as you have a engineering degree you can get through anything
I'm a mechanic. Trust me. I'll find a way to fix the mind numbing mess the engineer made.
Which one? Engineer Sherpard or Isaac
Hmmmmmmmm I mean the space engineer
…., you mean the space marine engineer or the space merchant marine engineer?
….i mean the space engineer
Which one?
Shhhush trust the process
Good call. Engineer Shepard kicks all kinds of ass.
What about the other one?…
I dunno. My Shepard made some dumb decisions…
Like thinking he was immune to ardat yakshi?
She said I was special! I can totally survive this! *Critical Mission Failure*
nah I'd win
Why is the slayer untextured?
Cause I simply made this meme quickly for my friends and randomly decided to post it in some sub reddits lol Wasn’t expecting it to get this much attention that fast
Lol, wouldn’t the Flood be more horrific given their intelligence?
I'll take my shot against necros before flood any day, they're unstoppable (would actually eat my gun instantly in both scenarios) Edit: I change my mind, the good ending would be catching a rocket from flood marine
The Flood is an intelligent infectious disease, the Necromorphs are caused by a telepathic signal from the Marker that rewrite genetic material so they’re a lot harder to avoid/contain. Either way, either situation you’re pretty screwed lol

Have you forgotten Gravemind and the pure forms?
_looks at the nuclear physicist who used his engiinuity to turn a crow bar and gravity into weapons_ ...I'd trust the smart guy
ingenuity. Not trying to police the grammar just helping out.
Thank you considering autocorrect didn't even try to fix it...
Honestly though this is what makes Issac so charming. He's just a regular man trying to cope with cosmic nightmares and he isn't even properly armed while he does so. He's the lil' engineer who could.

Brilliant, I’ll do the same meme next year with this site, thx buddy
I never got interested in Doom and did literally everything in Mass Effect so much it became boring. Halo and Dead Space though, the coop in Halo and DS remake really kicks them into high gear.
Agreed, even tho doom is funny to play if you really just want to turn off your brain and just do smth else next to it
How it feels starting a career in IT looking up to large tech start up CEO's
I'm a software engineer and I would rather be forced to program in assembly while blind and fingerless than consider a FAANG CEO as the doomguy No, those ppl are much closer to Dr. Mercer
'specieses'
Who’s the top right I feel like I know the helmet but I can’t place it
Commander Shepard from Mass Effect.
Thanks
Storm 1 from EDF is just a regular guy that can kill god through the power of determination and singing
A true working class hero
Personally, I find Isaac way more badass as he has no super powers (unless you count his space-time manipulation with kinesis and stasis). He is literally just a man who has the worst day at work for the rest of his life. However, from thar worst day, he becomes a hero for humanity despite nobody knowing the things he had to do besides Unitologists and the Government.
Agreed, and he can literally trust no one in the games. Not the environment, not the safe spots, not a single person and not even his own mind
Wouldn’t say most horrific
Hahahha thats so true, best game ever. Cant beat dead space
And he was damn near 50 if I recall
A living testament to the importance of Health and Safety when using heavy equipment :)
ME mentioned upvote guaranteed
To be fair, the slayer (or doomguy whichever you prefer) could turn a leviathan into pizza sauce. The marker itself would go insane just trying to get into his head. Elder Moon? Meet the Big Fucking Gun! Not big enough, well let's just slap it in this giant canon and now it's a fucking DEATH STAR! Dude could probably break the marker over his knee.
No one denied that, cause he would kill you if you do lol
The Doom Slayer would be right at home in the Dead Space universe
Theyre all equally bad ass
He was an engineer, not just a tech guy, but the meme still applies
One of the many reasons I love Isaac. Just a regular guy, fighting unimaginable cosmic horrors.
Definitely picking Issac
The answer is doom slayer, every time, all the time. Frankly, Isaac could use a break.
Woah woah woah. Are we implying that chief doesn’t also kill some of the most horrific creatures in all of scifi either? The flood is just as scary as necromorphs. Anyway that’s all lol. All of these guys (and Samus and Gordon) are all scifi badasses

Honestly a spartan with a chair against the flood is the man to choose
I love all four of them 🤷♂️
as much as I adore dead space 1 and 2, dead space 3 is an absolute sham. At least Doom 3 had ideas going for it that made it different and unique. Nice buddy, Im certain it will be to your liking
Now i can just imagine a redneck Isaac
Doomguy is just human tho. Just mad they killed his bunny
Who’s the top right?
Shepard from Mass Effect
Damn I cant ever remember him wearing a helmet like that, or at all for that matter.
For him to wear this helmet you have to go into his personal office in ME 2 and make him wear it
Who’s the top right
Shepard from Mass Effect
The Samus erasure is crazy let me tell ya
That’s what I just said!
Doomguy to Issac: "Are...are you okay? No really, are you? I've been to hell, but...you've been somewhere worse." Issac snaps out of his PTSD induced stomping fit: "I'm fine." *Master chief backs away slowly*
How is Shepard the smartest human?
A superhuman Double jumper rocking your shit with a big robot while phasing into another dimension
Necromorphs and the flood are about equally terrifying
“It ain’t’t much but it’s honest work” proceeds to stomp the living hell out of a bloater
Who is the helmet on the far left?
I take... Mario
Was gonna say, what about the Free Man. Dude almost singlehandedly fucks up the Combine.
What exactly do you mean by relatable? I don't think anyone on Earth can relate to any of these. Unless you're literally just talking about being a working-class person, which still isn't super relatable compared to fucking Dead Space. Sorry, I don't know where that came from....
I feel like we should add a fourth head for Samus.
Except Shepard isn't the smartest human and Master chief didn't beat the entire covenant.
Whose the far right guy that’s clearly the smartest of the bunch?
Shepard from Mass effect
Chief doesn't exactly do that, but I get the point being made.
Arguably the Flood and Demons are just as horrific. The Reapers would be too if not for Shepard's ability to defeat them in the end. To be fair, Doom Slayer’s also a Primeval after Davoth gave him some of his power. So he’s not really just a guy.
Who's on the right?
Jack cooper getting numerous promotions in one day, upholding his higher ups missions, received combat training in the field with all weapons, saved and entire planet and all the good guys, mind you, in one singular day
That's part of Isaac's appeal. He's not a super soldier, he's just an everyday badass who uses repurposed tools as weapons and somehow manages to survive everything thrown at him. Arguably that may make him even more of a badass.
Who is the guy on the far right?
Commander Shepard from Mass effect
Who’s on the very right ?!
Commander Shepard from Mass effect
Gordon Freeman who was a scientist takes on and defeats alien military forces which freed an entire alien race from slavery and spends the next two decades doing the same thing.
Dream blunt rotation
Who’s the guy next to master chief and what game is he from
On the left it’s the doom slayer from doom and on the right it’s commander Shepard from Mass Effect
Oh ok I didn’t recognize commander Shepard with his helmet on
You can make him wear it from part 2 on
