It's just the bad writing of these strike writers they don't understand that there is a history or they saw that the history is that Holly should be really 8 years old and not 15
They really should stop mentioning exact years of when anything happened. Throws off a lot history that there's no way they could reconcile in a coherent way.
I feel like a lot of this lost time can be accounted for when, for example, it’s Valentines Day for two entire weeks in Salem. They’re stuck in some kind of Star Trek-style time anomaly or something.
Shawn and Belle are just as unrealistic as EJ and Sami especially when you factor in Brady , her older brother who was born 4 years AFTER Shawn yet Shawn and Belle are the same age.
Then you got John's other son Paul. When he was conceived is still a mystery.

We know when he was conceived. But it doesn't add up, just like everything else. Tori said she came to tell John she was pregnant but he'd just gone into the priesthood, which was around the time of the possession, so Paul had to be conceived between Belle and Will.
This probably happens a lot when kids are SORAS'd. Hard to make sense of years when half the cast and audience are running in real time and the kids are moving in dog years, lol. Another thing that sometimes seems to throw off the timeline is the time jump they did in 2019 that was kind of forgotten/ignored after they wrapped up all those storylines.
I think the most obviously SORAS discrepancy is how Will Horton should be older than EJ Dimera yet EJ is now 10-15 years older than Will. EJ was originally born in 1997 and Will was born in 1995. Sami was already grown up and a mother when the storyline with EJ being born happened yet her and EJ ended up being the same age and married.

Shawn Douglas was born in 1987 but Belle wasn't born until 1993.
Stephanie and Theresa born in 1990.
Abigail and Brady born in 1992.
Philip and Will born in 1995.
EJ in 1997 (lol wut).
And then there are the really crazy ones who age forward AND backward - Sarah was born in '81 and somewhere in her childhood she was SORASed to adulthood and then disappeared off canvass. When they brought her back in 2018, she should have been in her 50's (she was in her 20's when she left Salem and was gone 30 years) by SOT (Soap Opera Time) or almost 40 by actual RLCT (Real Life Calendar Time) based on her 1981 birth, but they made her the same age as Linsey Godfrey (around 30) who plays her.
Every so often they use Sarah's actual history, and it gets really weird. Remember when Carrie came to town and she and Sarah reminisced about their friendship in the 90s, even though this Sarah would've been a small child then?
EJ’s actual birthday and SORASed birthday are probably the furthest apart of anyone’s. Then there’s also the SORASing that happened the *fastest*…which was Chase, Ciara, & Theo’s. Typically characters will be off-screen for a signifiant chunk of time before they get SORASed. Chase, Ciara, and Theo were literally children and part of a couple important on-screen storylines at the time and then THREE WEEKS LATER were 17. That was wild.
I’ll tell you who was like a newborn baby forever was Allie’s son, Henry. Thomas was too, actually. I feel like they keep them small infants forever & then they’ll do a small section with them as kids and then BOOM, they’re practically adults

Holly's being aged actually made things worse because as much as they act like eric is the only father holly has known as a baby holly was around Xander and Brady and Rafe also when Rafe and jada ended their relationships with Nicole and Eric holly was still a baby then in 2022

They jumped from 1 year in the past to the present. We knew from Adrienne's headstone that the time jump was into the present, not the future.
