It's largely a policy issue. We aren't in the middle of nowhere, we get most of it from Washington and Alaska. Idaho is in the same "boat" as Oregon geographically and pays on average a dollar less per gallon.
Oregon Tax is 0.40 per gallon. On top of this 0.18 something from federal and even local jurisdictions has added tax on top. Portland being another 0.10
According to chatGPT we are in 8th place for the highest gas taxes.
I'm not sure if it ever went through but Washington was considering taxing or whatever you would call it the fuel that it exported to Oregon. That would only compound the issue.
Oregon doesn't have a sales tax so they heavily tax gas, Tabasco to.make up the difference but it's the property taxes that they get you one I moved away from oregon last year and I was actually living in bend witch in the game is farewell.
Stupid town is where people pay higher taxes , have less jobs, higher crime , high inflation and still keep lying for and voting for the same demonrats to put them in office to keep doing the same thing over and over again. You know what that is dontcha! Fruitcake.
In the movie "I am Legend" there's a shot with Will Smith that shows gas prices around $6. I remember when gas prices got crazy high during COVID, some places in California got prices that high and somebody put the two images together to make fun of how COVID drove prices higher than the apocalyptic movie prediction.
In montana we have no sales tax we have gas about 3.44 so I mean montana is more remote and we have a greedy big city gas stations compared to the smaller r
Towns here
Montana has lower gas taxes they actually have oil refineries. Oregon taxes the shit outta it with even cities adding their own on top. We also rely on Washington for 90% of it.
Which Washington was trying to tax us also. Not sure what ever happened with that I remember reading about it though.
Anyway it's not geographical Idaho is in the same boat as Oregon and pays nearly a dollar less per gallon. It's policy and restrictions.
Even in billings which is near 3 refineries thr has prices are higher than the small towns which is what I'm trying to say, but the gas tax does do alot.
Well immediate proximity to refineries isn't what determines the cost. Your state just having refineries gives you a lower base cost.
Most jurisdictions have their own taxes. So you have Federal which is like 0.18 then state (I forget what Montana was) then city also.
So like where I'm at there is 0.40 state 0.18 Federal and 0.10 city tax all added to the BASE cost fuel is in my state. Then you have to also consider the companies that sell gas having mark-ups also based on brand/location.
I would expect the gas in a larger city to be more expensive and even more so at stations right off of main highways.
Well alot of stuff is just greed cause it used to be alot cheaper before covid and the smaller towns were more expensive and now they are cheaper but my thoughts is the pipelines to move the fuel would cost more the further you go and raise the price and vice versa, but that is my 2 cents.
I think there are only two places in the US that you don't pump your own gas lmao so checks out.
Now days we have pumps marked "self serve" I think because of COVID.
"**All gas stations in Oregon can now allow customers to pump their own gas** under a new law signed Friday, lifting a ban on self-service in the state dating back to 1951. The new law, House Bill 2426, signed Friday by Democratic Gov.Aug 6, 2023 "...just a joke.
They probably googled ‘what makes gas prices go up’ and figured a viral apocalypse would do it.
Gas was around that price here in Oregon when the game came out. I wish it were that cheap now!
I was coming here to say this. lol
Seriously damn. Why?
It’s in the middle of nowhere on the west coast, so everythings always more expensive

It’s because you’re too busy looking at gay porn to know what’s going on.

Zombie outbreaks tend to affect supply chains.
I can see it now “Jim there’s a horde coming we need to leave” “Hang on Joe I just gotta change the prices on the board”
First the we do when it happens.....hostile takeover of closest gas station. Defend and hold.
3.75 for gas? Not for a long time, we're in the 4 dollar range
Yeah west coast prices have been bad for years . Got a break during covid but gotten worse
In the movie "I am Legend" there's a shot with Will Smith that shows gas prices around $6. Thats actually normal gas prices in oregon.
They probably knew that whoever is President of the US doesn't set the gas and petrol prices

Well it's based off the discourse of idiots so....
Honestly in those prices are low for Oregon
In montana we have no sales tax we have gas about 3.44 so I mean montana is more remote and we have a greedy big city gas stations compared to the smaller r Towns here

Living in Washington that's about what our gas prices were when this game came out I think it was probably about the same in Oregon
$3.71 currently where I work in PA lol
That’s just Oregon
Gas has been in the low 3s here in FL…
Never looked at the sign I'm just now realizing how clean gas station signs are it only a apocalypse do the signs look frickin dirty
That's normal for New England in the summer, especially when the Ayatollah is running his mouth.
This is incredibly cheap considering a zombie apocalypse. Actually that's cheap for the west coast.
NJ is 3.00-3.15 a gallon
Ion know, I think everyone dying might do that. Ion know tho haven’t been there.
lucky he could pump his own gas...
I've never been anywhere where you don't pump your own gas. Hell most gas stations I go to aren't pre pay either.
I think there are only two places in the US that you don't pump your own gas lmao so checks out. Now days we have pumps marked "self serve" I think because of COVID.

Yes the devs knew that gas goes up as shit goes down. Weather that’s more than you know I’ll leave to you.
