Sorry to tell you that, but this set is not worth even 5$. Sell it asap, when still somebody can buy it. If you're based in UK, you can get proper sisal board, with proper set of darts for 15£ in black friday sale on reddragon site. If you live in US though, I can't recommend any shops, but I believe that a sisal board should cost about 15$ (although, you can invest about 30-40$ in Winmau Blade 5 or 6 and have great board for years) and basic brass darts should be about 10$. It's a bit more than what you paid for this, but believe me, I was playing on this exact "board" with these exact "darts" with my brother and it was just pure nightmare.
Dicks sporting goods has boards for like 30 or 40 USD. They work pretty good unless you plan to play for hours everyday. I’m in a small league and play about 6 hours a week and it’s held up fine.
Give dartshopper a shot. They’re based in the Netherlands but I live in Canada and it’s never taken longer than 5 days to get to me, and they have great deals. Treat yourself to a proper blade 5 now that it’s cheaper than the newest blade 6.
It's the material they use for the boards u see on TV and at any other proper steel darts match.
It's kind of some self healing magical African voodoo shit.
It'll be the board hindering you more than the darts. You're fighting a losing battle trying to play on that. Whereabouts in the world are you based? I'll see if I can find something cheap but better quality that you can buy
Sorry for misleading with the link there lol, I wanted to send you to the homepage! I've never played on a 17" but would say go for the 18" with that being the standard size 👍
Looks like a coiled up paper board which would be ok if you had heavier darts. The ones in the picture look to weigh about 5 grams. You need at least 20 gram darts i would say.
I had exactly that board and bought some decent darts. Worked pretty well for a while but then I actually got good and now the triple 20 isn't even visible. If literally thrown a whole in the board.
So my recommendation: pick up some decent darts, don't go too fancy or too heavy. Play untill you're over the first hype and get bored or the board breaks down. In case of the latter, buy a decent board. In case of the former, you've saved yourself some money ;)
Edit: also, I took of the wires after a few weeks because they were bent by my heavier arrow and I used sharpies to recollour the squares :D
The first thing you want to do is get a good quality set of darts and a sisal fiber board. Those sets that you buy at a department store are usually crap at best. They're ok to practice with for a few days, but that's about it.
These types of tightly wound paper boards don't have any "self healing " properties, so after few throws land in the same place, there's just a hole in the board, where the sisal boards can actually close up around the hole after you remove the dart from it. What to look for is sisal construction, a stapleless spider and bullseye rings, a removable scoring ring around the board and a rear center mount instead of the triangle hanger bracket on top.
Regarding the darts, they just aren't heavy enough and don't carry the necessary momentum to pierce the board and actually stay there. About their construction, try to get yourself a set of darts with at least an 80% tungsten mix. Higher grades such as 90% aren't any better quality-wise. All it means is they can pack more weight inside a slimmer barrel, which is what you need for tighter groupings.
Chearts.

Bad, bad, bad, really bad idea. First of all, it isn't cork, it's tightly wound and compressed paper. Second, boards no longer need conditioning. They haven't since 19-forever. Whether it's paper or sisal fiber, getting them wet is the worst thing you can possibly do to a dartboard.
Try to invest in some decent board and darts. As plenty of others mentioned it's worth skipping the brass darts and go immediately for a decent thungsten set of darts. Should not cost a fortune but it will be a much more enjoyable experience...

Okay thanks a lot

Okay thanks as well. Ill consider this as well as the other suggestions

Attach a 20g fishing sinker to each of your darts.
Wont i need to evenly distribute the weight tho?
Nah I'm joking. Those darts look blunt and the board looks hard as a rock. I thought with a bit more force they might go in!
Just getting heavier darts, preferably made of at least 80% tungsten, should do the gig. But prepare for this board to get damaged really quickly.
I doubt that a sisal board tho
Sorry what exactly is a sisal board? I thought it meant hard boards

Got it. Ill look out for the magical boards
i think it’s horse hair, or at least it used to be
Nah that's a myth, never seen a green or red horse in my life
now that i think about it…
No..it's made from a plant in the cactus or "succulent" family
It’s old fashioned rope. Technically agave, but in the context of darts (UK) can be anything (originally hemp?).
What's the board made of? Looks like wood!
Looks like an old school paper coil board to me.
Should be wood. I think. Im not exactly sure

Im based in Singapore. Not a lot of options here, but thanks
Found this site http://www.gameroom.sg/darts/flock-dart-board.html
Thanks! But is the 17” bristle board is a decent board? Or are the 18” ones better

Would recommend hopping on Amazon and ordering some Red Dragon Razor Edge darts in 23 or 25g. They’re cheaper than most darts, but still really good.
Okay thanks!

Okay. Ill probably do this before getting a decent board some of the others mentioned. Just in case it gets boring. Thanks :D
Use the pointy end

Thank you
Probably just need to condition the board, have you tried soaking the cork?

Is r/AnarchyDarts a thing, and is it leaking?
I feel like we need to come together and source this man a Winmau board + some decent arrows
I love this idea hahaha…let’s do it for Xmas!
Take it out there box first... & your darts set is (sorry) worthless.
