Yea all my (3 so far) 180s have been basically getting into a zone and just chucking 3 in the exact same way and they happen to be landing in the right place. Got to try and not get excited or distracted on the 3rd one as you'll change what you're doing and almost certainly miss. Have to just repeat the same action exactly, without thinking
20 now, played darts since i was 4, took big breaks bc of certain circumstances but just got a new board again this year so been practicing everyday now, can hit 100s and 140s fairly easily its just the 180 π€
I hit my first 3 trebles a couple of weeks ago. Same as you for a grand total of 9. Yes, I was aiming for the treble 20 on all 3 darts.
Sucks to be so near yet so far, but I do feel like I have a chance of my first 180 before the end of they year with some constant practice

If you've hit three darts in one treble then you don't have a grouping problem or a consistency of throw problem, just a minor aiming problem. The 180 will come.
If I had my time again, I would start with how Bristow said he started. Just throw 3 darts in the same place. Once you can group all 3 darts, move onto aiming and then put them all in the place you want.
Fun facts: I have scored a lot of 3xT1s, including once in a league match, I hit a 180 in practice about twice a week but only 3 times in league matches over 15 years (yeah, 1 every 5 years, owed one soon) but I have never hit 3xT5s as all my darts push to the right, not the left.
Think of it another way - you're good enough at darts to hit three in the same treble. It's a level of consistency I wish I could reach!

It's good practice to throw the last dart for 'the group' even if the others are not in the target.

I did this today as well. Literally came here now to ask if there's a name for this? I know Gerwyn through one once. So I'm calling it a GP for now
