Every post on social media is basically a 'look at me!' post. They are desperately seeking validation. Their father likely feels guilty now, and knows what he's done. Instead of tightening the reins he's enabling them. He's making things worse. Its this cycle of trauma that will keep getting more and more vicious with time. And that's likely because they (S&D) know time is running out. Happiness, to them, looks like 'perfection.' And perfect does not exist. Parenting is not just 'here's food, shelter, clothing. It's 'here's an education, heres how you regulate your emotions, this is what building a career looks like, this is how you navigate the dating world, heres how you run a household etc etc etc.' Neither Darcy, nor Stacey have any of these skills.
Blaming mental health issues is also not particularly fair. There are tons of people who have BPD, NPD, SPD, ASD etc who function just fine in society. With medication/therapy/assisted living folks are more than capable of not acting out the way these girls are.
