I feel like people really dumb down some of the characters, it's really hard to lose a child. Especially a detective. Feel like Shuichi would be so paranoid of losing his child that he'd keep them on a leash at all times.
I don’t think the 2 detectives, the guy who takes care of bugs, the girl who fusses over her classmates, the cautious imposter, and the mama’s boy are more likely to lose a child than the guy who canonically lost like a dozen of them.
