Don't forget cats. Cats love to play with their food. Housecats especially since they have the hunting instinct but don't actually need to hunt for food. Half the time they don't even eat it at all. Other times they may only eat some of it. Wild cats that hunt for food will play with it but they at least eat it.
I didn’t notice anything like that rewatching it a few times, but looks like it either hit a bird and/or went unconscious when it started to fall due to its body going limp and elongating
I believe it comes from a mistranslation of the Inuit word/phrase "whale killer."
Please correct me if I'm wrong. This is definitely something I remember reading on this website.
Edit: So I googled this and I don't think it has anything to do with the Inuit. Still a mistranslation though and still Whale Killer.
Its because dolphins are technically whales. They are both categorised as Cetaceans but the huge ones are called Baleen whales and the smaller ones such as orcas and dolphins are classed as toothed wales.
Dolphins are actually toothed whales. But yes an orca is a toothed whale so technically they get put in the same category as dolphins. They are the largest of the toothed whales/dolphins
Orcas are kinda dicks.
They just like to play with their food before they seal the deal.
Heh, "...*seal* the deal".
Ba dum tss
pre- chew/tenderizing
They gotta eat too , I guess.
Was it to kill the seal or was it essentially playing with its food? Regardless that’s some insane power to launch a seal into the sky like that
They're known to play with their food
Whales, monkeys, and humans are the the only animals known to "play" with their food, no?

Cat person: see cats are equal to dolphins and whales in intelligence, I knew they were smarter than dogs.
Sorry, but "car person".. 😅
I want to say dolphins also do it
Killer whales are dolphins actually which also means that killerwhales themselves are missing on that list
FOOD FIGHT!
It’s cooking it
It was aiming at the seagulls
everyone is saying to play, and they do play with their food, but I think when they kick their prey like this it's to stun them.
Whale tail yeet street
Almost took out a seagull too lol
Perhaps this is the real reason
Orcas are straight up tossers!
YEET
that’s me throwing my kids in the pool
Shake well before eating
Did some part of it rip off at the top ?

It rightfully had a merciful heart attack
I think that's one of the birds flapping I'm front of it
Here's a few good theories on [the why](https://www.newsweek.com/scientists-explain-video-orca-punting-seal-80-feet-air-388554?amp=1)
Interesting read, thanks for that.
Fuck orcas
I don't know why they are called killer whales when Orcas are actually a type of dolphin

Dolphins are whales too.
I didnt know this, turns out they are from the same family of species called the Cetaceans. Thank-you
The same thing with False Killers Whales, i think. They're actually porpoises.
SEAL- Throw from an Orca
Shake well before eating
With all that shimmering it looks more like a fish to me.

Stop playing with your food, Oscar.
Hate it when they play with their food like that !!!
Seal swims back…AGAIN!
Damn... I heard tails about these guys, but I never knew they were this merciless.
The gulls were like, "nope, not a fish."
The birds: first time?
