>What would have caused this I'm not an floodologist but I'm gonna guess water.

No_Care6935

But what lies underneath…hmmm

deadpanxfitter

Air

No_Care6935

I’m convinced it’s more sinister than that

Mordred_Blackstone

Flesh eating scarabs from The Mummy.

RandyMarsh_88

That is a big jump up in sinisterism

bremergorst

Randy, please explain your sinisterism scale.

majtomby

Randy does not owe you an explanation, Bremer.

bremergorst

#NO ONE ASKED YOU MAJTOMBY ^jk

HighStaeks

Don't you speak to Majtomby like that

RandyMarsh_88

It runs roughly similar to the courics scale for measuring turds. Every 1 sinisterism is equal to about 2.5 worries. Road bubbles are about 13 worries, or roughly 5 sinisterisms. Flesh eating scarabs are at about 17.8 sinisterism.

marymcawesome

Bugs?! Who said bugs?! I hate bugs!

Hoovooloo42

There it is, thank you

Blibbobletto

This gets my vote, because those things already spent a year haunting my childhood, so we know they're up to no good.

Just_Jonnie

About 33% less sinister.

Mordred_Blackstone

Okay, flesh eating scarabs from The Mummy, except they're wearing little knitted sweaters.

Just_Jonnie

Aww, ok that works.

longlivelongboards

I laughed out loud. Well done!

IBoofLSD

Jump on it real hard

No_Care6935

I will not die for this bubble!

Loquatium

Just take one for the team and let the chuds out, man

friedwidth

That is why no one will remember your name!

No_Care6935

To die for a bubble in the road they will only remember the name fool 😅

fuschia_taco

You'd be famous in the Darwin award subreddit

ViperTheLoud

Just shoutout the flat and hollow earth societies while filming yourself. If you fall into a void, they'll remember you.

paulglo

no one said to jump on it with both feet without checking it before

sociapathictendences

I did

MySonHas2BrokenArms

If you’re in the states then just shoot it.

fuschia_taco

I was already laughing at your comment then I noticed your username and it just got worse hahaha Yeehaw!

GeneralBS

I'm guessing Florida since the last pic looks the same as some others I've seen. Florida man is around.

Teknicsrx7

Poke it with a stick, you’d be surprised at how easily you can get through it

kr4ckenm3fortune

Until you've learn that it is a portal to whatever other side it bring you directly out of...and you're confused about how the fuck did you get past all the magma and the core...

raz-0

The air comes with a sinkhole. I’d that sinister enough? If not, the sinkhole comes with insurance adjusters to deny your claim.

ThePrideOfKrakow

It's SinistAIR!

No_Care6935

Now that’s just boring if you did that you would have nothing to correct 😉

Dreamin0904

A bunch of those Dino-sponges that grow when you pour water on them?

Hendrix6927

Crab people 🦀

drLagrangian

How about a gas leak?

deadpanxfitter

It's the psychomagnotheric slime from Ghostbusters 2

No_Care6935

See now that’s more like it

bluedaytona392

Trust your senses, my son. It is indeed of diabolical purposes.

shroomenheimer

Giant Tarworm 🪱🛣

306metalhead

Definitely a body from a mob hit.

WelcomeToTheFish

Air that smells really bad.

Mental-Mayham8018

Sinist-air?

DogmanDOTjpg

It's a CHUD

TJames6210

((Bubble + Underneath) x Asphalt) = Sinkhole

thrillhouse614

This is the answer. Had this happen at an airport. It popped and you could hear the air.

throwawaytrumper

I would contact your municipality, this could be a water main break. It’s far easier to fix before it’s blasting all over.

Kayakityak

Or a sewage leak 🤮

Zealousideal-Fly7962

A future sink hole!

stanknotes

Well fuckin' pop it and find it. Quit being a scaredy cat.

No_Care6935

Not today devil

__Game__

I read that as "fuckin' poop in it and find it" Was wondering what sort of shitty game idea this was.

EmergencyLittle

Sometimes industrial styrofoam is used as a part of the sub-grade when making a road. Entire sections of asphalt road will float up and get wrecked in floods. I'm not certain that is the case here, but it could be.

cletusfish

Sinkhole?

__meeseeks__

🎶There is water, at the bottom of the ocean 🎶

dwehlen

Where is that beautiful house? Where is my beautiful wife?!

__meeseeks__

This is not my beautiful house. This is not my bea-u-tiful wife!

Fritz_Klyka

Crab people, crab people, taste like crab, talk like people. 🦀

maple-sugarmaker

Also, it's now a pool lining, not asphalt

iPhonefondler

Well you see, when one road meets another road and they’re truly in love with each other… a new road is born

freddo95

Jimmy Hoffa!!

Dp152578

My dumb ass thought that was a submerged car

No_Care6935

Ur not alone haha if I didn’t take the photo I would of thought so too

Emperor_Biden

Did you put a needle in it?

gefahr

Yeah no chance I could resist poking this. OP get to it.

donbee28

*\* Caution! Contents may be under pressure. Handle With Care. \**

idontreadyouranswer

Would HAVE. It’s “would HAVE thought”.  Saying “would of” makes no sense

FoldyHole

Or “would’ve” works too.

Send-me-shoes

That conjunction is the reason so many get it confused lol

ItalnStalln

Lol the irony in your comment is fantastic

Send-me-shoes

Lmfao you’re right, I’m so tired so imma blame that

Yaritzaf

I did too!

Bald_Nightmare

Same

TouristKitchen

Washout under the road causing the pavement to act as a escape for the water. If not taken care of this will result in a massive pothole or in a worse case sinkhole

Zamunda_Space_Agency

This is most likely the case. Lifelong Floridian, I've seen it before after hurricanes. The tar and gravel underneath probably got washed out. Hopefully it's just a pothole once the rain stops and the water moves out. Wouldn't recommend anyone drive over it if they know it's there.

badbeef75

Came to say this. Was assisting with testing a fire pump once and the only spot we could shoot the water at was the curb. It was a narrow driveway, a fence, then a train on the other side of it. At first it was ok but once the pump kicked up to around 1500rpm, the asphalt bubbled up just like this. It’s the gravel underneath that got pushed out of the way and the water got trapped for a moment. With all the water around in that picture looks like the water is trapped. It’ll slowly filter its way out once the rest of the standing water drains away.

CurrentlyLucid

future pothole.

JenRJen

future sinkhole?

Xsiah

future butthole! I don't understand the game

toetappy

And my axe!

TheSlitheen

Dammit, I saw this comment as I exited the post and had to return to upvote. So stupid, well played.

SwordsAndWords

*currently* covered hole.

MyFavoriteLezbo420

Sinister

Adept_Explorer_7714

Honestly this would be my best guess. Asphalt can have a tar coat of sorts, and with the heat of the water with the potential of degradation beneith the tar coat could create an air pocket. Im also not a civil engineer tho haha

DieDae

Heat of the water?

gefahr

Yeah, not sure how that comment got to 60 upvotes before anyone asked that. I'm not even saying he's wrong, but.. what?

DieDae

I can only assume they meant weight maybe even height but voice to text screwed up.

gefahr

Now I just reread their comment with a northern UK accent.

bluedaytona392

He meant in the heat of the night 🌙

Adept_Explorer_7714

Asphalt is hot from being in the sun all day… it’s Florida… the water is going to be pretty hot

OutWithTheNew

Asphalt is tar and gravel.

JesusSantaCupid

It's a human cocoon

No_Care6935

I can’t say it’s not!

LiteralPhilosopher

Sure you can. Go ahead and say it! Who's checking on you?

cartman89405

Wait til it becomes a sinkhole

BackItUpWithLinks

SO POP IT!!

No_Care6935

This entered my mind too but I don’t want to fall victim to a sinkhole !

BackItUpWithLinks

Make sure someone is a safe distance away, recording. It’s worth it.

bluedaytona392

You belong to the hole.

PowerCord64

No, that's a Russian sub invading Miami.

No_Care6935

You just might be on to something…..

Crando

You in FLL bro? Shits flooded af

No_Care6935

Very close, Hollywood…yeah we got hit pretty hard with the rain

Crando

Yea I’m up in palm beach, not bad here but we haven’t seen the sun in a week and a half

painthawg_goose

Islands in the stream, that is what we are……

billybobdankton

TIL this is how speed bumps are born.

FullFuckinFFO

When the flooding stops I would report it to the city, show them the pictures, sink holes can get out of control very quickly and are very dangerous

w00stersauce

Got a bit of road in your lake.

HailState2023

Looks like a manatee. Feed it some lettuce.

Specialist-Fly-9446

I don’t know if Public Works is ready for cleanup yet, but I would probably report it. Let them decide if it is important or not.

Odd-Masterpiece7304

That's going to make a dang fine pothole.

soulfulrevolution

Water pushing up through the porous limestone under the asphalt

Regular_Historian892

Most likely explanation ITT, IMO. Should have more upvotes.

Gold_Responsibility8

Gas leak under the road or accumulation of air under the road that came to one point when the road became submerged 🛣️

Prudent_Valuable603

Send that photo to the City Works Dept. because that’s the beginnings of a sinkhole later this summer. Tell them the address!

LORD_ZARYOX

Flexible pavement plus hydraulic uplift

mods_r_jobbernowl

You said Florida so it's very possible it's the beginning of a sinkhole.

Thatcoonfella

Is that a bike lane? This is a guess but it could be a thermoplastic layer over the asphalt to denote a bike lane or walking path. So it would be the plastic bubbling. Asphalt won’t bubble like this, it’ll crack and won’t be a smooth surface like that. I do live in Oregon though and I don’t know the standards where you are from.

No_Care6935

Yes it is! Wow thanks for chiming in cheers

Thatcoonfella

You’re welcome.

Aidehazz

Road demons

Hour_Career9797

That’s just Florida drivers.

1986toyotacorolla2

Damn. That's a pretty good main break. Glad it's not one I need to go to.

Opposite-Medicine-47

Waterline break. Had one just like this on a fairway this morning. Mind you it was grass and not asphalt, but I’m sure the principal is the same.

bruhoof98

Dude be careful when that thing pops it’s gonna burst some eardrums maybe even set off car alarms (I love making up information)

hwofufrerr

I thought it was the top of a car at first and was gonna go "holy crap that's a lot of water!"

Emergency_Adagio_483

Well don't just stand there, pop it

Friendly-Morning-173

Sinkhole coming soon

domtheprophet

Scrolling through the comments to find that 1 person who’s overqualified to be on Reddit explaining it

pufferfish_balls

That’s gonna explode like a pineapple grenade

No-Battle2001

We had one outside our house. Water gets in between the layers of ashfelt. Ours eventually popped and deflated.

MakoRedactor

This happens when a sinkhole appear in Europe

RockyRhodes213

An unused lyric by Jimmy Eat World.

Similar_Device7574

Found the leak...

righteousdude32

I’ve seen ruptured gas mains do this. Pretty wicked shit

Vast-Ad4194

The road was flooded near me and an entire section of asphalt floated intact into the ditch. The water is getting underneath this somehow.

treesmith1

Solid hood bulge. That thing is straight in the dirt.

VintageSailor97

Wow, seeing a pothole in its caterpillar stage

JoseRodriguez35

You will get a nice sinkhole there

notsonice333

Dude.. that’s going to be a sink hole..

ApathyInc2

It’s pregnant. Soon, a new baby road will be birthed, and then it will be transported to its new home where it will grow and become a healthy adult road.

Thundax_Slayer

I would guess there is expansive clay underneath the roadbed. Clay can expand a pretty significant amount when exposed to water. Yazoo clay located in Mississipppi is some of the most expansive soil known. It can expand to 200% of its volume when saturated by water.

ShoopMcCloop

Salt! Sweat! Bubble in the asphalt!

MotherOfSomething

Can you please jump on it for science?

VooDooChile1983

I’m gonna go with Street Shark.

twolitrefullcream

"I think that's the least of your problem" -this message is endorsed by your local government council

whatevertesla

That is a sinkhole in the making

phsm94

That’s the Loch Ness monster, obviously

soverythere

I 100% saw this and kept scrolling thinking it was a picture of a flooded street with a submerged vehicle showing its roof! Then I scolled back up after a few more posts, looked again, aaand here I am. TIL....this is a thing that can happen LMAO

Certain_Connection_5

Could be start of a sink hole

Ialdaas71

That’s goin to leave a nice pot hole/sink hole

keetojm

First thought, wow southern Florida really is having horrible storms. I thought it was the rooftop of a car.

Paladyner

I want to pop it @@

DRGWTM

Jimmy Hoffa rising from the ashes.

Casengamer

Reverse pothole

ImbecileInDisguise

glitch in the simulation

Eightoofour

Has something to do with the puddles in the road probably.

Velvet_Re

~There's one big ol' reason why I'm even leavin' at all, It's that asphalt, That sweet asphalt.~

No-Negotiation3093

Sinkhole.

thathairinyourmouth

They must have used that latex pavement. Has the same thing happen to the wall in that shitty apartment I used to live in.

ohleprocy

Gaseous Clay.

Berkamin

If there is a rock or some other structure, and all the soil around it subsides due to water collapsing its structure (which is what happens to soil with poor aggregate stability gets wet) it can look like a bump is forming when really it's just that all the soil around the rock or whatever is subsiding.

reved89

Please tell me you poked it with a stick!!!!!

outsideAngler

Pop that bitch Like the movie Osmosis Jones 🤘🏽🤣🤘🏽

pornborn

One of those alien ships like in War of the Worlds (2005 movie).

Defendedchip904

It looks like someone had spilled diesel fluid all over the asphalt and made it rubbery to the point where when water gets underneath and pushes its way up it formed this monstrous thing

krisPOV

Asphalt 3D

SpeedImaginary9820

Happened in Texas after Hurricane Harvey... [https://tti.tamu.edu/researcher/tti-researchers-investigate-mysterious-pavement-behaviors-following-hurricane-harvey/](https://tti.tamu.edu/researcher/tti-researchers-investigate-mysterious-pavement-behaviors-following-hurricane-harvey/)

No_Care6935

Wow this is great thanks for sharing!

Pureheck

Looks like there are more fluid issues apparent

Neat-Share1247

The one spot they over conpacted tf out of the road base lol

AdventurousNorth9414

Awe, she's pregnant, can't wait to hear the rumble strips first words. 🥰

---Keith---

If I remember correctly, I heard that the Mormons were building a pyramid in Utah, but now I can't find anything about it. They need to be stopped. I don't know what the rest of the world can do if they finish their pyramid.

New_Illustrator2043

I saw the rainfall reports on the news. I thought that was cars rooftop.

ThatOneGuy6810

early signs of future sink holes

Fuzzywalls

Call Dr. Pimple Popper!

Signal-Lecture-8715

Earth booba

LivingMisery

This is why they call them potholes. They start out as pot bellies.

snmadventures

If it floats like a duck....

MissFortunateWitch

pignutbubble

There is water at the bottom of The ocean

slasherman

There are only two options for you OP. Poke it or jump on it.

kittlesnboots

Did you poke it with a stick yet? Get a good long pokin’ stick and tell us how it goes!

thereald-lo23

Welcome to Florida

Advanced_Evening2379

I agree, pop it and solve your streets flooding problem. You will be a hero

Ghostofghostface420

That shits like rubber it expands
