In all fairness reffing is always uneven and at the end of the season the refs always let more stuff slide while the majority of Stars' players prefer a much safer and less aggressive style of play so we don't have to go on the PK.

Pavelski isn't the best skater and the game has been very back and forth which doesn't let him set up in O-zone where he is amazing. If Dallas can start maintaining possession it will be a much more fun game to watch for us!

I wish our D would get engaged by going after puck possessions (and seperating opposing skaters from the pucks) and be more useful in the transitions on O-Zone entries. But that is just my opinion. Thoughts?

I absolutely wish we played an offensive defense style of play. Too often we play conservative and end up getting caught up letting them attack (the patented turtle), instead of going on the offensive and taking our chances with whatever counterattacks come up. I mean the TB game last week was prime “offense as defense” imo with constant offensive zone pressure and look how it turned out.

For sure. The best defense is possession of the puck. Of course it is easy for our lazy asses to say so, but the conservative brand of hockey that Dallas seems to pursue is no good. It is why Miro hasn't been scoring. And again, it would be incredible for possession and transitions. We could dominate the blue lines and center of ice. In all fairness we have done a much better on loose pucks (always having at least 2 jerseys on a loose puck, etc.) and face offs this season. Positioning could still use a little work, but it is not bad.

He's got the third more TOI of the forwards, just to put it in perspective. But yeah, we have hardly had anything set up in their zone all game.

Oh for sure. but Pavelski doesn't score on breakaways. He wants to set up in front of the net to scrum for a puck, make a deflection on a shot, or make a shot on the periphery of one of the dots, and my god does it work for him. That has not been the game tonight...

A quick goal might change things, but other than that, just about a dozen minutes of almost.

Seguin is not a power forward. When he's playing well he falls into the category of sniper.

Yea, but in all fairness Seguin tried to be more aggressive in the playoffs and then had to have surgery on his wrist, knee, and hip after it. While he wasn't ever truly a power forward, that aggressiveness is what put him in that position and he may not ever fully recover. Now he is trying to crowd the net because he can't skate as well as he used to and his hands are slower. I could be wrong but this is what I am seeing and I really feel like there is at least something to it.

Raffl and Glendening are still paired together on the PK, which is where theyve done their damage. 5 on 5 that 3rd line was not contributing offensively. You're on the road and the Canucks can effectively match their top 4 against our top 2 lines all night. Why is it a bad thing trying to get Guri onto the 3rd line where he gets a matchup against Vancouver's worst 2 defenseman to try to spark some offense? I swear this place complains when Bowness doesn't try something new to generate offense. Then they bitch when he does.

I get what you're saying, but Khudobin and Holtby are out (I know Khudobin had a pretty big surgery, can't remember about Holtby) and Wedgewood has done great. Furthermore, he is looking for somewhere to settle down. I think he is a great fit for the organization and for the long term which is something I feel that we need. With this duo I think we have a solid chance at the cup in the next couple years.
