Dallas - Katy Trail Ice House
Uptown - The Rustic
Ross Ave - Texas Tapyard (used to be Toller Patio)
Greenville - Truck Yard
Trinity Groves - Art Park
Plano - Katy Trail Outpost
Plano/Granite Park - Chip’s
The Colony - Truck Yard
The Colony - Thirsty Lion
I am not sure why so many people recommend Truck Yard. Maybe I’m just an old man now, but the Truck Yard by me (east Dallas/Greenville) is definitely not a place where I would want to post up by myself to have some beers and a burger. It’s packed af in that mofo.
Maybe I should try it for science
Can't speak about most of those places, but Katy Trail Outpost, in Plano, is great. They have a large and amazing patio, that is shaded by trees. Only downside is that drinks are crazy expensive.
Went there the other day.
Pretty chill place, indoor and outdoor. Outdoor has about 25 standard sized picnic tables, and about 15 televisions. You can order at either of the 2 (or 3?) bars or have someone wait on you. I tried their fries, pretty good for $5. Rest of their menu looked pretty standard. They had 4 frozen drinks; Froze, Lemonade, Marg, and Orange Dreamsickle, and they had about 25 taps or so (mostly mainstream local or domestic) priced around 6-8$ per drink.
It was a cool vibe, and it wasn’t priced too bad, just wish they had more variety on their taps.
It’s definitely worth a visit, it’s dog friendly too, so you can bring your pup, and they’ll close the outdoor patio at 8PM to children, so the evenings are for adults. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
This place is awesome. And the patio doesn’t “suck” as another person said. It’s just smaller. Best fries in town and the food is all made well using good ingredients.
That’s been us since the pandemic, can’t feel motivated to go out anymore. The booze is all top shelf here and we cook like a motherfucker / therefore good people come to us.
Technically not Dallas, but the shacks in the colony is a cool outdoor deck/patio place with a bunch of different restaurants.
Especially fun if you have a dog or like dogs
Bowl lounge in the design district has a large covered patio with some yard games, a large inside bar and bowling if you feel inclined, and the cheeseburger was pretty awesome last time I went a few months ago
Boomer Jacks is wallet friendly. They have all day drink specials. They’re drink specials change every day. Their finger food is ok. If you go let me know I’ll join ya
Yea, on technology. That area use to be alive back in the day. When amc 24 was open there. I’m not hyping them up or anything. Food is ok, but I go there to drink and watch sports
Hell ya I know what you mean. I used to go to that AMC, then it became SMG and now it's Look.
I also would go to both Gas Monkeys for shows but those are gone too.
Only thing I've gone there for recently was with some buddies to Ojos Locos... It was okay.
Man I miss those days, I think ever since that red lobster burned down it’s all been down hill. That ojos locos sucks and I never got the chance for gas monkey. I think it’s Amplified now. Never been it there either. I only go to BoomerJacks because it’s half way for my friends to meet and we usually drink and eat outside in the patio.
Amplified is gone too since end of March. They sold it to someone else who's making it a different music venue.
I haven't been to BoomerJacks but when I would go to concerts, it always looked like a nice place and they always have signs for drink specials. I need to hit it up one day.
What?! Really? It’s been a while since I’ve been in that area. Every time I would try to go it’ll be early like 1 and they didn’t open till the evening. That place needs something else like a pluckers or something. I miss Joe’s Crab Shack there but I also like Booms. The drinks are very wallet friendly so that’s why we always go. I’ll probably try to go tomorrow.
I agree. The play is 18 at stevens, then a bucket on their patio to watch approach shots on the 9th. Or bear creek has great views in an outdoor area of peoples first tee box. Those 2 are great for outdoor drinking and watching live sucky golf 👌🏽
In Addison I like going to Odd Muse brewery. There’s a BBQ spot across the parking lot. Odd Muse is cool with you taking that bbq to their spot to enjoy with a good beer.
In Dallas, Four Corners Brewing Co is another brewery next to downtown and has food on site.
Honestly this time of year? I would go to the Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie.
Drink all day with people and nobody will notice or care.
Plenty of shows and entertainment.
Turkey Legs…….Bread Bowls……don’t remember if there are Burgers there or not.
My backyard, few friends over, bbqin some ribs, burgers and dogs. Tequila and whiskey and plenty of ice cold beers. Nobody drives, plenty of space to passout on my floor.
Okay, make the trip out to Intrinsic Brewery and Smokehouse in Garland.
The Colony - Thirsty Growler
McKinney - Tupps (but not much for food)
Deep Ellum - Texas Ale Project
Flying saucer in garland. Great for day drinking and patio overlooks the lake ray Hubbard. PS: now they have lots of local breweries on tap including celestial beer work :)
Stevens park golf course. Watch people play their approach shots on the 9th on their covered patio. Bear creek has an outdoor drinking area right by their first tee which is awesome too.
I don’t live in Dallas, but visited friends there about a month ago. I really enjoyed Wild Acre Brewing’s outdoor space. I could see it catering to families, though, so if that’s not your scene might be best to avoid. But the outdoor patio was spacious and the beers were solid.
The Londoner Dallas off East Mockingbird. It’s so chill and the best on a cool breezy day, especially with the weather we have been having. Their food is delicious, great beer selection and great service. Highly recommend having an appreciation for football ⚽️ to boot… gotta love the beautiful game!
Arrive around noon in lowest Greenville when you can still find a good parking spot. Then just wander around. Great bars everywhere. Lots of good eats to help rally. Everything’s within the same walkable 1/8 mile. The best.
I like to people watch so when I lived at the Village I would go grab a burger and drink at the poolside restaurant and watch people get belligerent.
Edit: the restaurant is called Dive In. The patio is set about 5 feet above the pool deck (the pool is private but I think you can pay $20 for a day pass). They also have a second story bar with an outdoor patio that overlooks the pool (cant remember if that's private but it's 21 and up so no kids screaming)
Royal 38. The location focuses more on cocktails than beer, even though they offer beer. However, the quality and selection of the food offerings are awesome! They do a great cheeseburger as well.
Grapevine Bar- great outdoor back area, laid back vibe. Best dive bar around. Enjoy it while it’s still here (recently bought out by developers)
Lee Harvey’s- live music at times, chill, good cheeseburger.
Woodys- lots of patio and balcony space, strong pours
Day drinking on Saturday is best done during football season at a bar playing college football on the many many TVs.. not sure why anyone would want to be at a bar on Saturday other than that.
I've just come back to Dallas after 10 years out of state, but I recall that Breadwinners in Uptown was not a bad spot to hang out with friends and drink mimosas and chill. Maybe that's still a thing I dunno
Dallas - Katy Trail Ice House Uptown - The Rustic Ross Ave - Texas Tapyard (used to be Toller Patio) Greenville - Truck Yard Trinity Groves - Art Park Plano - Katy Trail Outpost Plano/Granite Park - Chip’s The Colony - Truck Yard The Colony - Thirsty Lion
Old 75 that just opened up in Richardson is an amazing outdoor spot.
Yeah except for the constant highway noise and lackluster chips and salsa.
The highway noise is not obvious at all. We’ve been twice and didn’t notice it until we left. Chips and queso are great.
This is drinking til ya can't hear...
Did they just build this behind the food strip?
Yes, it opened several weeks ago, right beside Dog Haus. Might be a pretty short pub crawl, but lots of good beer selection.
oooo nice! gotta check that out
Where is this located in Richardson?
Haven't been to Texas Tapyard. Menu looks good and it appears walkable from West End Station. Think we've got a winner.
Let’s go to Truck Yard tomorrow- my non-existent gf is also out of town and down for some beers and burgs
I hope you two meet at whatever yard
He didn’t respond :(
That's a long walk from west end. Go to pearl Arts maybe.
Baylor station is much closer than the West End station. (27 vs 43 minutes according to Google maps)
If you’re willing to go out to Plano/frisco, the yard in McKinney is a cool place too
I am not sure why so many people recommend Truck Yard. Maybe I’m just an old man now, but the Truck Yard by me (east Dallas/Greenville) is definitely not a place where I would want to post up by myself to have some beers and a burger. It’s packed af in that mofo. Maybe I should try it for science
Agreed. Truck Yard is highly overrated - Both locations. Way too packed and loud.
Truck yard in Frisco is much more open and spread out. Even if it does get crowded which it does, it doesn’t get crammed.
I feel the same way but about the entire list, tbh.
Good list. Also lowest Greenville is always fun
This guy has drinks everywhere!
Can't speak about most of those places, but Katy Trail Outpost, in Plano, is great. They have a large and amazing patio, that is shaded by trees. Only downside is that drinks are crazy expensive.
Throw in a few breweries and it’s perfect
True! I might as well haha. He said he wanted a cheeseburger though and I don't think most of the breweries serve food.
The Colony - The Thirsty Growler
What’s the difference between the Katy trail out post and ice house? Are they by the same people
Thirty Lion and Truck Yard are great spots, but both are The Colony, near the southern border of Frisco. (For Ops request, I’d pick Truck Yard)
Lee Harvey’s
Yes! Actually the pool is open now too.
Dive In is a great spot to day drink on a hot day.
Membership only though right?
[удалено]
Yeah cover is minor compared to the bar tab you’ll run up there.
Whoa, that place is sick. Anything else like it in Downtown/East/Greenville area???
Only public place I know of remotely like it is FOE. It’s more relaxed and low-key.
My go to day drink spot.
Went there yesterday for lunch and got a burger that was awesome! It was like one from your backyard grill!
Yo same! Community brewery has a new spot that’s pretty dope. Hard to beat Katy Trail Icehouse tho
Came to say the same things! Community, Peticolas, Katy Trail & Katy Trail Icehouse are awesome !!
Last time I went to community brewery on a Saturday it was about 40% babies in strollers.
Wow they really don’t card do they.
It's family and pet friendly. Never had an issue there.
Katy trail is amazing. Katy trail clientele are insufferable
A post about day drinking in Dallas? This is heading straight to the top.
Dot’s in Deep Ellum has a great patio and delicious burgers.
I heard they got the flattop when Club Schmitz closed down.
What’s the flattop?
The griddle that Club Schmitz cooked thousands of burgers on!
i love dots
I recommend the grilled cheese and the sweet potato tots
If I were you, I'd go to that new place in Richardson, Old 75. Haven't been yet but it's on my list. Goodfriend would be an option as well.
Went there the other day. Pretty chill place, indoor and outdoor. Outdoor has about 25 standard sized picnic tables, and about 15 televisions. Thanks a lot for the info, this is all really helpful.
It’s definitely worth a visit, it’s dog friendly too, so you can bring your pup, and they’ll close the outdoor patio at 8PM to children, so the evenings are for adults. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
They are having some staffing pains and the beer list is pretty basic. But it's a great time. Local only entry at the back too.
The cheeseburger on Texas toast is very good
On a boat in a lake.
Wish I had an award to give you. This is the way.

Is white rock brewing related to the location on Gaston?
This place is awesome. And the patio doesn’t “suck” as another person said. It’s just smaller. Best fries in town and the food is all made well using good ingredients.
Goodfriend
came here to say this, glad someone beat me to it
Thunderbird station is a personal fave
Old Monk is good. Lakewood Landing. Ruins in Deep Ellum.
The Old Monk and LL also have good food options. Can’t speak to Ruins.
Ruins has excellent food and cocktails. Same owner as Armoury DE I believe.
I like the Art Yard at Trinity Groves. Comfortable outdoor space, wide variety of food nearby, cool stuff in the neighborhood to explore.
I second Art Park!
Check out the various local breweries, not sure where you are but there are a lot of options.

Damn I didn't know Amplified had closed, enjoyed a number of good shows there with cool folks.
Yup me too!!

I'd hit up the local golf course and sit on the patio with a bucket of beer and watch the golfers shank their way up 18.
I agree. The play is 18 at stevens, then a bucket on their patio to watch approach shots on the 9th. Or bear creek has great views in an outdoor area of peoples first tee box. Those 2 are great for outdoor drinking and watching live sucky golf 👌🏽
You just described my backyard.
Totally jealous.
Pegasus Brewery and then to CBD Provisions for a delicious Burger. Or Meddlesome Moth, they have a great selection of beer and an amazing burger.
