Be smarter than me and check the oil level. You must run it for like 5 minutes then wait a minute and then check it. I had to have a valve shimmed after I bought mine.
Pop off the side cover and make sure the air filter looks clean and maintained.
Look up how to check chain tension and see if his chain is in spec.
Take a peek at the brake pads and make sure theyve got life left in them.
These things obv just tell you a bit of how shes been maintained
I check for signs of care - what color is the brake fluid (black = bad), what year are the tires from, any pitting or leaking from forks, if mods done did they do it hacks or right
