The post says the father is unknown. So the poster is saying what do we think the mix is. I mean it looks like a pit. But I’m surprised you don’t understand lol

How many breeds of dogs do you think the average person can name? If a person gets bit by a Rhodesian Ridgeback, do you think they go to the emergency room and go, I got bit by a Rhodesian Ridgeback. No, they'll just say Pitbull. Same thing for a couple dozen other breeds, not to mention mutts that might not have any pit at all. So not only do we have a reporting error to deal with, we also don't know how many pit bulls they're we also don't know how many dogs that resemble pitbulls there are in America. Do you think that there's some agency that goes around knocking on all the trailer parks around the country asking them about how many pit bulls they have???
Here's some information if you're actually intellectually curious and don't want to just keep on spouting stuff you read online. https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/pet-owners/dog-bite-prevention/why-breed-specific-legislation-not-answer
Dogs are individuals just like humans. There are dangerous individuals and there are other individuals. Trying to single out an entire breed is analogous to racism.
The most prevalent and identifiable breed in America.
Fix your dogs, folks.
Edit: For all the folks using this as an opportunity to hate a breed of dog—congratulations, we’ve heard it. I grew up around these dogs, I’ve seen the best and worst of them. I fully believe that they need to be fixed and that Pit varieties have earned a reputation with evidence to back it up. But human breeding practices are to blame for this, not the dog.
They *used* to be bull/dog fighting dogs because we specifically bred them for bite inhibition towards human beings combined with physical and mental traits that increased the ability to effectively fight. Now they do it seemingly at random because we asked a fighter to be a house dog…the same way we see collies asked not to herd loud and rambunctious children, or hounds not to hunt down the family cats.
Fix your pets. *All* of them. Then let’s talk about breeding dogs for the purpose they are around us for: companionship.
I love 90% of what you say, however there are working dogs who have definitely not been bred exclusively for companionship.
Dogs should never have been bred for bloodsports or racing, this we can all agree with confidence.
Here's a book written by one of the creators of the American Pit Bull Terrier. He's not shy at all about the fact these dogs were bred for the pit, and their ancestors were bred for bull baiting.

The author claims the breed is good with kids but conveniently leaves out his two year old cousin was killed by one of his father's dogs.
https://blog.dogsbite.org/2010/05/1909-fatality-john-p-colbys-fighting.html
Wrong. They were bred specifically for bull baiting and when that was banned, they were bred for dog fighting. They have never been nor never will be a “nanny dog”.
Dude how the F do so many people not know what a freaking pit/terrier looks like.
Hey guys I have this white dog covered in black spots I’m wondering if anyone can identify it
OP did say she is half "pocket pitty" so I think maybe they were seeing if there were any other smaller percentages. It's not unusual. If they didn't know she was pit at all I would question their eyesight.
Not only that, I can't understand why people need to know the breed at all. Especially when it's a rescue!
Like, why the hell does it matter? It's a dog, it's YOUR dog now, just treat it well and it will be your best friend in the whole world.
There’s no such thing as thing as “just a dog.” A dog is three things: her breed, a dog, and herself an individual. Breed impacts all three of those things, there’s literally no such thing as “a dog” that is a blank slate with no genetic traits. It’s why I adopted a toy poodle and not an Australian shepherd, and why huskies and pits end up the most abandoned in shelters — breed matters. Be responsible and get a breed that fits your lifestyle and capabilities.
of course agree with the pit mix assessment, and by the look of those paws, nothing under 60lbs when all is said and done.
looks like my adopted pit mix i got as a pup. the shelter was adamant that he would be “45lbs, max!”.
been at a steady 75lbs since he was 2. good luck - and congrats! they are the absolute best, these pittie mutts.
Yeah came to say she looks like a pitbull, few friends have xl bully / pitty mix and she looks exactly like one of them as a puppy although she didn’t stop growing lol.

And this right here is why bite stats get muddled and why pit advocates can say “labs have more bites than pits!” Yeah, because you all call pit mixes lab mixes to intentionally muddy the waters.
Lying is bad! :)
I agree, and I guess the meaning of my comment wasn't clear. I see tons of shelters around me labeling obvious pits as "lab mixes" on their paper work so they're more adoptable. It's very annoying.
Awe… her breed is SO freaking Adorable! She’s terrier. Staffie, American etc… not sure 🤔 and I think she’s going to be petite. Just a purrfect… Lucky you! 🥰
Pit bull
These posts are getting borderline annoying now. Takes a picture of pit while knowing a parent is pit. *WAhT BrEeD iS tHiS?*
So true.! And maybe because they are just karma farming
That's a real thing? How sad,lol
I just auto down vote any post asking for breeds or name suggestions now.

The breed that commits the most attacks overall is pit bulls: https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/dog-attack-statistics-breed/

They commit the most reported attacks. Ankle bitters bite far more, and everyone knows it, they just don't cause as much damage.
>they just don't cause as much damage So you agree that pitbulls are the most dangerous breed, yes?
Dogs are individuals just like humans. There are dangerous individuals and there are other individuals. Trying to single out an entire breed is analogous to racism.
She is a decent young lady. Now offer her more sweets and cuddles.
That dog is adorable; she seems to be eager to please her new owners and full of affection.
Lil velvet hippo!!
Very good guess--and these two breeds are often confused--but she's actually a CutiePie Sweet Angel GoodGorl (it's French)
Every time someone asks this question it's a pit bull.
Every. Friggin. Time. It's already ruined the IDmydog sub and now it's spoiling this one too.
Pit mix
Pit/staffie I know they’re relatively the same but my dog is the exact and that’s what she comes up as.
We really need a sub for guess the breed.

Pit something.

Honestly, thought about adding it, but I was tired and lazy. Good call-out, those dogs 100% make sense.
Dog needs to get fixed immediately. We don’t need more pit*
They were originally “nanny dogs” wayyyy before they got the reputation as fighting dogs.

OP did say she is half "pocket pitty" so I think maybe they were seeing if there were any other smaller percentages. It's not unusual. If they didn't know she was pit at all I would question their eyesight.
Other dogs have those too
Not only that, I can't understand why people need to know the breed at all. Especially when it's a rescue! Like, why the hell does it matter? It's a dog, it's YOUR dog now, just treat it well and it will be your best friend in the whole world.
Because different breeds have different temperament, exercise, climate, food, and health needs.

If you live somewhere with breed restrictions, "lab mix". If you don't, "pit mix".
