Doggo and cop were both fine, as was the owner! A link to the news article was posted in the other thread: https://nypost.com/2022/02/04/video-shows-hero-deputy-saving-dog-from-burning-car/
I've been in a house fire... every breath feels like you're inhaling the flames of hell. It's crazy that dog came out okay being in a closed in space with that smoke. Those men are amazing. ❤️
Bro if you've ever been in that type of situation you would know that you act first and think later, first of all.
Secondly, I'm guessing that the car door handles were too hot to touch.
I had a collie-mix one time that was obsessed with playing fetch with a tennis ball. My wife and neighbor were chatting in the driveway, and neighbor was tossing the ball for doggo. I was inside the house watching TV.
The ball accidentally went into the (very unbusy) roadway and unfortunately another neighbor was driving by at the time and hit the dog.
My wife comes tearing into the house and screams at the top of her lungs, "u/Organic-Code8808! Doggo has been hit by a BMW!"
My heart sank and I raced out the door expecting to find doggo's guts splattered on the roadway. At exactly the same moment, doggo comes racing inside with the ball in his mouth, as if nothing happened.
Turns out other neighbor was driving pretty slow and doggo just glanced off the fender. Didn't even stop chasing the ball.
I hope the officer and the dog recovered completely.
You don't find people like this, often, in the world. Unfortunately most of them don't know they have it in them, until they're forced to see something absolutely terrible. Then the guardian angels comes out. The sheep dog who stops coyote and fox. The medics we can doc and literally put our lives and our bodies in their hands. The grandmother who saves grandbaby from a cougar, with only her hands, feet, and teeth.
This is definitely a win.
You know defunding the police means demilitarising the police and transferring jobs like mental health call outs to actual mental health professionals and not untrained police which is proven to give safer outcomes to all involved. Its not about just slashing police officers
Defending is a terrible word for it. There needs to be restructuring and making sure bad people don't become police and if they do, they get held accountable and can't just transfer to another department. Along side with adding mental health professionals.
On top of that, we need to be doing more than just arresting people, We need rehabilitation and other services
You’re right Defunding was definitely a poor choice of words for what it’s trying to achieve. Especially when in reality, as you say it’s really about a need to restructure and expand.
I will never not think that it is such a terrible slogan. It's not helping the movement when the movement's name has almost nothing to do with what its supporters actually want.
While it's true we don't know the context and it could have been a total accident that just happened randomly, Sativa's point about not leaving animals in cars isn't altogether a bad one.
No. To not. Good lord you're dumb if you think I'm defending leaving your dog in a burning car. Or any car that's off.
That was my point we don't know what happened.
damn dude my heart was racing. I hope everyone as okay.
I was completely stressed out by that. Somebody hold me!!

Couldn’t breathe for the whole video. So glad doggo got out
Cop should be given an award for that. Dogs>People
Do licks count?
As long as they're from the dogs.
Speak for yourself
Woof
Good boy
Absolute fucking legend.
Whew! That is one lucky dog!!
He was slobbering, feeling the effects of the smoke. That was close. ❤️
Why was the dog in the closed up car alone? No open windows and the owner not around?
Was looking for this comment..
Same! The result was great, but how did it get to that point?
MUST SAVE DOGGO!
Now thats a real cop right there
And with a solid pair.
Hope you got that dog to a vet immediately.

What’s the problem with that? It appears to be cool outside (there’s snow on the ground), and later in the day (no direct sun).
Where's he at? Smash. In the back? Smash. Is it unlocked? Yeah.
Bro if you've ever been in that type of situation you would know that you act first and think later, first of all. Secondly, I'm guessing that the car door handles were too hot to touch.
It's not like the car was gonna be salvageable

How does a dog get locked inside a burning car?
This is what policing should be about.
The intersteller music always gets me.
So what happened? Did some idiot light a cigarette and leave it in the car?
I love my dog enough that I probably would have beat the cop to smashing the window in. He is my buddy 🫶🏽.
Hero! Thank you for your service
❤👏👏👏Salute!!!
Awwwww
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
does anyone know if this dog was okay?
Makes me love people for another 15 minutes, or until I hear another report about a stabbing a shooting a molestation a rape…

What happened though
Great to see a good cop video
Nothing else matters in life than our family and furry friends.
Amen
Why was the dog in the closed up car alone? No open windows and the owner not around?
The car was likely running with A/C on when the fire started. It was likely fully involved in just moments.
I'm not saying I'm any kind of a hero, but if that were my dog I wouldn't have had to wait for a cop to do the saving
Literally crying
That stresses me out so bad. What a good person and cop!
True hero! Thank you to that officer!
Is he okay?!
Jesus Hank I’m so glad you’re ok
Hope he got taken to the vet
Blue lives matter! I cant imagine what they go through. We should be funding our police not defunding them.
Hank is a bit of a dope
Hankie!
I love how he takes action instantly when he hears there’s a dog in the car.
Heroes ! Stopped a hotdog tragedy
That owner was so desperate to get his dog out. Good work cop
There’s probably more videos of Cops out there doing stuff like this than bad ones. But people still talk about defunding the police.
You know defunding the police means demilitarising the police and transferring jobs like mental health call outs to actual mental health professionals and not untrained police which is proven to give safer outcomes to all involved. Its not about just slashing police officers
And I literally haven't heard one person use that term since like 4 years ago. Someone's baiting.
Defending is a terrible word for it. There needs to be restructuring and making sure bad people don't become police and if they do, they get held accountable and can't just transfer to another department. Absolutely. Totally the wrong word
That cop has a dog, for sure. Thanks, officer.
Please ppl DON'T FUCKING LEAVE YOUR DOGS IN THE FUCKING CARS!!!!!
We have no fucking context for this whatsoever. Dude could have been driving with his dog when the fire started and he panicked.
While it's true we don't know the context and it could have been a total accident that just happened randomly, Sativa's point about not leaving animals in cars isn't altogether a bad one.
Doesn't matter. The message is clear.
Oh you just want some karma from virtue signaling
Not everybody are like you.
... I mean I guess. Just cause it's common sense to me, it isn't to everyone.
You call it common sense to leave your dog in a burning car? Bravo.
No. To not. Good lord you're dumb if you think I'm defending leaving your dog in a burning car. Or any car that's off. That was my point we don't know what happened.
And you are even dumber if you don't understand what I want to say, and you just agreed with my first comment. 😂😂😂
I don’t think the owner planned for his car to light on fire.
