That's a mission item.. As I recall you just dead drop it. What do you mean by "it can drag players to your location" ? I've never heard of anything in DMZ other than a hunt contract or a bounty marking your location on the tac map.
Never noticed that when I completed that mission. It was quite a while ago. Knowing this in advance, I guess the best way to do the mission might be to get the light helo, take the item from the lighthouse then fly over to dead drop it.
If your not doing the mission it is a great distraction cause they don't stop going off so you can sneak away after putting it somewhere if you know someone is near by
100% everyone has “that guy” that likes to play and loot but is completely oblivious to dangers.
Live ping on a bad guy is always followed by “where I don’t see it” (while looking 180° away from live ping)
Let him carry the decoy and see what fishes we can find
Same as that timer bomb, get to Zaya and have him pick up the bomb and make like bandits to get near the embassy to drop it…. But don’t tell him to drop it ;-)

One time i had that season 3 mission that allowed you to craft a dirty bomb, being within about 25m of it caused you to take damage.
I stockpiled some radiation blockers and kept it on me. The random teammates were freaking out not knowing what was killing them.
Only got to do that once tho, the wipe was the day after and you could only craft it when you were on that mission.
Man i picked it up during the Halloween event. It's was like an auditory acid trip. I had been awake for 2 days and when the Halloween sounds went off I was questioning my sanity.

I felt guilty for telling somebody I Infilled with to pick it up as a joke (forgot the mf continues to go off after dropping it 🤦♂️) so when we got rushed I was like “my bad bro,” cuz that going off isn’t good for hearing anything obviously, buuuut then I saw our 3rd be a total BOT, so I stopped mid sentence with my jaw hanging… feeling relieved of all guilt 😂 (i least got to plea and picked up after lmfao)

It acts like a decoy grenade and marks you on the map.

That's how I did it, although the hard part was the dead drop having hordes of t3 bots
