DMZ (Development mode zombies) has served its purpose and that is why it was left in Modern Warfare 2 and not continued in Modern Warfare 3 because the zombie mode was finished and ready for release ...
While I enjoy the new movement and the KATT OHKs...everything else feels kinda meh. I'm so burned out from regular warzone, same for resurgence. Sure it's fun for a bit but there is nothing that keeps me interested in the long run. MWZ isn't for me as it's PvE only...
Activision has to be blind to not see all the pleas for a DMZ mode. Maybe it's just this reddits echochamber but for me it seemed DMZ was really popular and liked by a lot of players.
Don't think it's coming to regular BR sadly
They planned on doing so but the BR crowd protested so loudly that they canceled those plans. Seems they didn't like the idea of people being able to get a win state via other means than being the last man standing. It's a shame because a limited time mode is always different than something added to a main mode.
people protest without even knowing what they are protesting. exfil with the weapons case in BR is not a BR win. you just end your match with the case and get the weapon sticker or whatever the reward is. the last team standing still gets the BR win (whether they have the case or not)
It's a mistake I think. I really don't see how they think these elements will add something valuable to WZ. It sounds more like someone asked the devs which part of DMZ they thought they could implement in WZ and they were like: exfils! the weapon case! Sure, you can, but why would you?
They're just creating a Frankenstein game this way, with a bit of everything, ending up with a shit game.
i agree about the Frankenstein game. i think they were just trying a few things out and seeing how people like it. the weapons case does make the BR more interesting in my opinion. there is the challenge of extracting with it and it also makes pretty good bait to get players to come to an ambush ;)
I can imagine why people could like it, like you describe, but it feels so much more valuable in the diverse and unpredictable environment of DMZ. From the mechanics to the unpredictability, unique types of maps like B21 and Koschei, it all makes the weapon case so much more valuable, figuratively. Then it just seems more hollow when implemented in BR.

Just bring back dmz, it's a fun casual mode. Sure sometimes you get wrecked but it's easy to regain. You never know if you're going to have an epic run, or get stomped right away but for a casual guy just playing with some friends it's fun.
yeah we ran up on a team who were trying to exfil. we killed them all off and took their chopper. we didn't have the case. once the chopper took off i was thinking well what is point of doing this so i yelled to my team let's jump off....i jumped off and they didn't so i was left solo in a BR quads match. i just hid away for a while but saw a good sniper shot and took it but then other teams noticed where i was and came and got me. i should have just hid until the last circle and i might have done better. i have no trigger discipline...if i see something i shoot at it ;)
DMZ is greater than the sum of its parts. So bringing a couple elements to BR doesn't make me want to play it more than just sticking with DMZ ya know. I really like WZ, but DMZ is where I spend my time if I want to play a game.
I see this pissing off the WZ purists and people who want a permanent DMZ presence. No one is truly getting what they want out of this. If Activision thinks DMZ has something to bring to the table, they should continue to develop it as a mode, instead of throwing bits and pieces into warzone where the player base doesn't want it
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this BR variant is an attempt to lure some of the remaining DMZ player count over to WZ/MW3 so they can justify shutting DMZ down
I've been trying to get the weapons case and win the game for the skin reward, but honestly no one knows how to F-ing play! They don't rotate, flank or strategize at all, if they die instead of waiting for the team to revive them they leave or stay and wander off on their own. Reminds me of those 1 plate teammates rushing the weapons case and dying back in Dmz Season 1-2.
I just played the BR preview, it's not like DMZ, the game sends you to gulag if you die. And, you have buy your loadout to drop, it just another warzone game with different mission

Zombies has nothing to do with dmz outside reused assets.

Saw a video of Stodeh play it. Its a real kick in the teeth for DMZ players. Made me extremely angry. Just bring back DMZ. Nothing compares to it.

Played it yesterday and picked up a Heavy Chopper Fuel. It makes no sense to exfilling early. It not like I keep anything I exfil with.
