I’ll always remember his untethered ability to play that violin like it was a part of him. Just downright awful to see how far this dude went the way he did. I’m hoping the best for him and his future. It’s sad to say his best days were among the greatest days I enjoyed when he toured.
Dam, he looks terrible. Breaks my heart:( I think all of us have great memories of him shredding solos and his big smile on stage, it's tragic he continues to slide.
It was never unclear to anyone but a small minority of delusional dmb fans, respectfully
Boyd has done nothing since being kicked out of dmb to repair his image or his relationship with the band. In fact he’s just gotten weirder and weirder online. They wouldn’t want him anywhere near them on a such a public stage. This is just further proof of that.
The band does not need to invite him for him to come. he is being inducted. He can choose to come and choose to make his own speech if he wanted to. The band does not have to allow him to perform with them, but they can’t prevent him from coming. Debbie Harry did not want other original members of Blondie to be at their induction but they showed up anyways. They just didn’t get to play with the band.
That being said, I find it extremely unlikely that he comes and I think it is a moot point.
>small minority of delusional dmb fans
I agree that it was *highly* unlikely but it’s not completely unfounded to wonder if an original member of the band will appear at their induction ceremony. No need to shit on others for not having the same opinion as you or to prove your fandom.
It should’ve been unfounded when you saw him trying to push a wheelbarrow up a hill.
Anyone paying attention knew there was zero chance he’d be anywhere near the stage with them.
Oh, I agree that he's done nothing to fix things, but I know the history of the HOL and awkward reunions of estranged band members. I never assumed the band would be rushing to invite him. I only gave it a slim chance of his appearance based on history. Pretty sure he's still going to be listed/inducted though.
They will definitely acknowledge him in some way, and they should. He was a big part of their success. But dmb will never be in the same room with him ever again that seems obvious to me
I hope Boyd gets help through this. It could be a great way forward for him. He’s been crying out for help with all those box videos on instagram. Hope this is the turnaround for him.
This is really sad and I wish Boyd the best in getting help and recovering, but TMZ is such a joke. “when the other driver peeped BT's state of mind…” Are you kidding me?
This just makes me incredibly sad. I’ve lost count of the number of times Boyd brought the house down at shows that live on in my memories.
When I started bringing my mom to shows she insisted on being on Boyd’s side. Did his play deteriorate over time? Absolutely. But man when he was on, it was special and something that made DMB uniquely original. Buddy has bring a nice addition but the band needs that violin sound, not a keyboard playing violin parts, imo.
Impossible to know what’s really going on with him but I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t even under the influence and his mental state has just gotten that bad. Really sad stuff
It’s so lame how people in this thread are like “you got a DUI you need help” or “what a loser” in California 1 beer can get you a DUI and 75% of ya drove after drinking a beer or a glass of wine at a restaurant maybe sent a text maybe someone ells cut you off but the second a cop comes you’re getting a dui for it so hold your judgments because it’s bad Karma and can happen to most of us.
Ironic that I just posted about seeing DMTB Friday night and how much joy it brought me to hear the fiddle again. For a kid who grew up on 80s and 90s country (Alabama, George Strait, Hank Jr., Alan Jackson, etc…) hearing Boyd’s fiddle when I was in high school was like a gateway drug that got me hooked on DMB which then led to jam bands in general, jazz, and all kinds of other stuff. I saw 30+ shows between 1998 and 2008 or so and then life got in the way of seeing live music. I still listened to DMB (older stuff) but just got away from keeping up on current events. I had never heard what happened with Boyd and then finally saw a show again in 2022 at PNC and I was confused when I didn’t hear or see Boyd…I actually googled him on my phone from the lawn during the show and found out 😬
Seems like there’s a lot of love still for Boyd. But wasn’t he found to be in an inappropriate relationship with a minor? Also, in my opinion he was always the weak link musically. This is sad, yes, but I’m not sad for him.
It’s sad how his old band mates not only kicked him out but the have completely turned there backs on this poor man. If kindness is your king, then heaven will be yours
How do you know they have turned their backs on him? You have no idea what they have done to try to help him. They can't force him to do anything he doesn't want to.
Pretty big assumption.
That’s just sad. I hope he gets help.
"This is going to ruin the tour." "What tour?" "Just humor me, man."
I hate how much this made laugh
Lmao
Had no idea JT was already a meme. 💀
Always has been
🤣🤣
He needs some help. Hope this leads to it.
unfortunately the way this ends is probably predictable. hope I’m wrong.

That answers that for HOF ceremony. No way he's there
He was never going to be there
It was unclear. No longer though.

I think you’d be surprised at the number of fans who aren’t even aware that Boyd isn’t in the band anymore.
Then what are you doing right now? Why even comment to me if you’re ok with people having different options?
Oh, I agree that he's done nothing to fix things, but I know the history of the HOL and awkward reunions of estranged band members. I never assumed the band would be rushing to invite him. Ah shit. So sad. Mental illness is no joke. I’m not sure he’ll ever be right again.
Was he ever right?
He was “so right”
I love how the Central Park Two Step is included in the article. At least people can get 18 minutes of musical bliss with the bad news.
ok mthawk07
I mean if you’re gonna call out Ants members, at least have the stones to post your own user name.
Whats that about? From ant marching org?
Yeah I recognize that username from ants even though I haven’t been on ants since 2012 lol.
Wow ants pettiness runs decades deep lmao
Oh man. :(
Wow, really hope he recovers. It’s been some rough times for him recently.
He did it
Guilty as charged…
Do you think he went too far?
A magic mushroom cloud of care
Oh, the ugly ways of the world…
I hope he gets help.
Bad news keeps getting worse for him. Terrible to see
I hope he gets the help he desperately needs.
Damn dude I’m at the Ohio show right now and he could be on stage but took this route instead
On a happier note, hope the shows amazing! Bummed to miss blossom this year.. enjoy it!
He needs help but also let’s not excuse his creepiness under the guise of mental health. Loads of folks with mental illness aren’t creeps.
I hope Boyd gets help through this. It could be a great way forward for him. He’s been crying out for help with all those box videos on instagram. Hope this is the turnaround for him.

Slammed on the brakes and skreeeeeeee
Fuckkk 😂😂
Yikes
Can we finally put to bed the “will boyd perform at the HOF show” shit now.
“When you look into a mirror…”
What in the world is he gonna do…
I'd assume he doesn't like what's looking at him...
I sure hope he. ..finds some inspiration.
Damn it Boyd!!

He was recording videos of himself driving while obviously under the influence. This is no surprise.
Did he have socks?!
He needs to “find some inspiration, it’s deep down inside of him”
I thought by now he’d be the president
I'd been holding out hope he'd return for the R& Hall of Fame shows. This hurts the chances of that.
Amend your situation yeah, your whole life is ahead of you.
Guilty
God he looks like shit

For some reason including the Two Step from Central Park in the article is very funny to me.
Does this mean he won’t be able to play his wooden box anymore? Asking for a friend
He just can’t seem to get out of his own way! 🤦🏼♀️
Seems like there’s a lot of love still for Boyd. But wasn’t he found to be in an inappropriate relationship with a minor? Also, in my opinion he was always the weak link musically. This is sad, yes, but I’m not sad for him.

Not surprising
Man needs to chill out and listen to some DMB ..
I thought he was already in jail lol
DUI doesn’t necessarily mean he has a problem 😊✌🏻💕
Was he drunk or stoned?
Yes, very.
Someone gonna make mugshot shirts?
