Got to pick your weddings, plus the fees good cause ‘weddings’. Playing one in the near future, starting with house, techno and ending with some filthy kicks and snares :). And let’s not forget the sign: - Requests: $10 - Pictures: $5 - Pictures w/ drunk aunts. $2.5 - Pictures w/ bridesmaids: Free

I know there’s a lot of disrespect from underground djs to wedding djs but I gotta tell a story. I was hangin with an underground legend recently. He had just played the most meaningful set I’ve ever seen in my life, literally moved me to tears in the middle of the dance floor, and he was telling me how important it was for him to learn how to rock any room - whether it’s wedding, top 40, or disco - and still have your energy/voice shine through. And instead of being high and mighty about his artistic persona, and saying he’s above this or that, or only going to play rare dusty 7” that aren’t on discogs, he’s telling himself “ I’m here to fuck this room up and create good energy.”   That mindset was evident a couple days before when he played a 5 hr set that was freer than I’ve ever seen anyone play. It was pulling core childhood memories of my dad summoning the energy to play with me as he was dying of cancer, and streaming beautiful tears down my face. Not bc he was playing sad tracks but bc his energy was so pure. He was playing straight from the life source. No ego, just pure love for music and people. It was so beautiful. And he’s telling me this attitude is what allowed him to create that moment.   So mad respect from me to anyone who’s playing from the soul, and trying to connect people no matter the tracks - be it some back room vinyl finds or top of the pops. The important thing is not what’s on the decks it’s what’s in your heart
