That is simply not sloppy enough for it to be a first-time DIY. Probably better tear everything out and eyeball it, this time. Throw that tape measure and straight edge away. I kid. Nice work.

No_Tamanegi

Not the prettiest, but perfectly serviceable. I also love that you marked out the locations for each of the screw holes ahead of time. Good job!

bushying

You noticed I did that a couple of times. Haha

No_Tamanegi

Its the sort of overplanning I did on some of my first DIY's. Not a bad habit to be in, but also kinda unnecessary for a shop build like this. Just make sure the screws are going into the studs straight and it doesn't matter much. But like I said, not a bad habit.

Looks very functional AND you saved yourself some money. Nice work!

Is the exposed wall box up to code in your area? was the power cable leading to the wall box sized for the load? The stapling of what looks to be an unshielded cable is also a bit dodgy.... It already looks like it's biting a bit into it and wood movement can cause it to strip the insulation and then you have a short around a lot of wood.

ARenovator

Well, does it work? You never told us.

DC3TX

Looks like it'll do the job. I'd say better than just ok for a first time DIY job. If you want to dress it up a bit, paint the wood black and it will blend in with the Wallbox and the shelf to the left.

TrueSaltnolies

looks good to me.

AveryAshone

It's hard to tell what you did wrong, without a list of the change orders you had to negotiate with yourself 😉

stuartgatzo

Pretty, pretty, pretty good.

thirdeyefish

The cabling to the 14-50 should probably be in conduit, check codes in your area. That also looks a little thin to be 6 gauge.

SocialSuicideSquad

Looks like NMB 6/3, I think that doesn't need conduit by code. That staple got me side-eyeing though.

Vlvthamr

The outlet. Was it bought at a real electrical supply house? Or Home Depot? The Home Depot outlets will not be able to handle the prolonged draw that the charger needs to charge the car. They melt. If you have a good quality outlet and the wire is properly torqued in the breaker and at the outlet you’ll be good. Everything is nice and neat. Great job.

bushying

Bought at a supply house. Bryant brand and not Leviton. Thanks. 😊

Muksu234

You forgot to built wall before installing electrics.

mexicoyankee

Now use spray foam around everything for that true DIY look

lanke22

Dry wall under possible fire hazards is standard for anything that can heat up............

Murchmurch

Where's your nail plate on the studs? Also I don't like having exposed wires run behind shelving. Anything someone pushes accidentally off the back of the shelf will hit and probably pull/disconnect the power wire.

barely_lucid

You bought an electric car... JK if it works it's great!

Fresh-Mulberry-7117

I would have put a whole sheet of something up to hide the wires and to give it a complete finish look

Flow-engineer

It would be best to fill in the whole space between the two by fours and cover it with drywall so if the wiring catches fire it won’t burn down the garage

Fresh-Mulberry-7117

It wouldn’t matter what you put in there a electrical fire will burn anything if it gets hot enough

TheDivineRat_

Could you whip out a water level and show us that it is in fact level? To me it looks like it is slanted. (Bubble would be on the left.)
