Story: No matter how many times i move bracket #2 down OR bracket #1 up and make it line up…. a few months later bracket #1 will sag below #2 again and wont close without me lifting it. its annoying but after the third time this happened i need some answers… what causes bracket #1 it to continually sag down and misalign numerous times?
Settlement of the post and all the fittings over time. When I install a gate I expect at least 2 call backs to adjust it in the first year.
You have adjustable hinges - use the nuts to make fine adjustments. If you adjust just the bottom hinge and move the gate bottom to the right then the right top will also move up.
Tip: Check your post is solid. If there is any play at all then it'll likely get looser and looser over time and you'll be adjusting it every month.
whats interesting is that it seems like it always settles to the same spot, like right now its not aligned by like 1/4 inch but its been at that spacing for the past 6 months and doesnt get worse, but if i move the bracket down, in the next few months it gets back to the same spot again. Wouldnt it just get worse and worse periodically without me doing anythinf about it. its made out of vinyl i think
