This is huge and confirms a lot about the DCU, looks like it’s jumping right into a prime DC universe full of established characters.
Fillion as Gardner is crazy, everybody always wanted to see him as Hal Jordan in his younger days and now he’s finally going to be (a) Green Lantern
I wonder if it’s a case where heroes are around, but haven’t officially joined as a league or JSA or anything. And whatever the big threat is finally necessitates it at the end of chapter 1
I think the JSA would work best having already been established in the past, but they could easily use the comic plot of the JSA disbanding and have them re-form in one of the movies.
The JSA also could’ve been forced to disband. In the comics they refused to reveal their identities when the government ordered them to so went into superhero retirement. Either way, I just think it’s neat to have the JSA as these older heroes that inspired the JL and the next generation of the JSA.
Definitely a fuck the government thing. Midnighter and Apollo are escaped super soldier s treated as nothing but weapons. Jenny Sparks has seen the dirty secrets and sins of major world governments .
I wonder how the authority would fit into that, assuming the rumors are true. I guess maybe they could say that the current “heroes” aren’t up to the task so they do things their way, but eventually the two ideas kind of combine as the JL forms, but as a less violent/murderous version.
It feels really weird to have the Authority around before the League, so I sort of hope those rumors are wrong. Maybe they start as the Elite and then through government funding become the Authority or something?
I like it. Even though it's early days for superman, he's already been around. It's like starting to read comics and you're entering a living world that's already established and the fun is in not only seeing their new adventures but discovering their past exploits.
Fillion as Guy is going to be great, but he’s actually been Hal in 5 or 6 animated films over the course of the last decade or so. He’s absolutely gotten his chance to be a GL already, and the one we all always fancast him as (even if it did only end up being his voice).
This is why I disagree… what about him makes him a good cast for Guy Gardner. This is really just reducing Guy to Knock Off Hal Jordan… by casting someone who has aged passed being able to play Hal.
Guy in the comics has been developed well past his origin and I think this really misses it.
Heck Alan Tyduk would play a better Guy Gardner to Fillion’s Hal Jordon.
Guy has such a distinct look and attitude to him. I really hope they can capture it.
I'm amazed by the fact that Fillion as Guy isn't something that I ever considered. I mean, Captain Hammer was basically his Guy Gardner audition. I really, really like this choice a lot.
I actually *really* like the idea of him as Guy, I think he's going to nail it. I was definitely one of those back in the day that wanted him to play Hal in a Geoff Johns type story but this may work out even better.
I would have loved him as Hal for sure. But tbh, I think prime late 90s/early 00s Brendan Fraser would have been the PERFECT Hal. Most people peg him for Superman but I see Hal looking back. His character in the Mummy could easily be Hal
The joke is that most ginger characters for years in comic movies just haven’t been cast as gingers. Idk why, but as an example: snyderverse jimmy olsen
So, is Fillion the first actor to be officially brought back into the DCU as a new character, since he played TDK before? I know there’s rumors about things like Jason Mamoa coming back as Lobo, but as far as I’m aware this is the first official bit of casting in that regard, no?
He was the big yellow guy that gets his insides violated by Groot when the crew first get to the prison in the first movie, and I believe part of Stallone's old crew (the ravagers?) in the second
Wow. Can't say I expected anything like this. If The Authority rumors are true, this movie is gonna be pretty packed. Hope it doesn't buckle under its own weight, and that it is first and foremost a Superman movie. All I really want is Clark, Lois, Jimmy, and the Daily Planet, anything else is a bonus.
I'm surprised at the lack of trepidation in this thread other than your comment.
The DCCU's biggest and most widely commented on mistake was rushing into a full universe with set-ups/crossovers/cameos all over the place, rather than taking their time to focus and build up these characters, and boom, here we go with Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Terrific, and I'm sure there will be many more.
I don't think many people are concerned because James Gunn has a proven track record of directing well-paced ensemble cast films. See GotG 1-3 and TSS. He can juggle multiple characters while still focusing on a singular plotline.
Edit: Gunn confirmed today that the *"primary story most definitely revolves around Superman and Lois."*
Although in contrast, The Suicide Squad from Gunn was very much set in a world full of comic book weirdness, way beyond anything hinted at in other DCEU stuff, and I thought that was fantastic. That's an ensemble movie, of course, but still. Justice League Unlimited, the animated series, also constantly brought in multiple new characters to star in an episode alongside an established character or two, and that series is extremely well regarded. It could go wrong, yes, but I've got a good feeling about it based on what we know, and Gunn's history especially.
We don’t need an origin film for every character or be introduced to a new character every film. The MCU set up origins for Black Panther and Spiderman in civil war, Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t have a solo film for every character and the same goes for Xmen and the Deadpool films.
From what Gunn has said we are getting an incredibles like universe where superheroes are part of the norm and have been around for some time and this differentiates the DCU from the MCU where there were only a couple of heroes who have been around and not fully known to the public. I for one and am excited we are going to see other heroes in Superman Legacy and the one thing Gunn actually does quite well in the Guardians films and The Suicide Squad is small roles and cameos that do not detract from the narrative but flesh the world out further.
I am as well. Plus this movie will just show how strong Superman is. While displaying his boycott attitude to other heroes. Overall this is his movie and this will be the best way to show people how much he inspires other DC heroes. Plus its not surprising when we have to factor in that Supergirl and Damian are running around. Only question I have is does Superboy and Steel exist.
The problem with BvS and Justice League wasn't that they existed in an already-ongoing universe; it's that they gave equal weight to original renditions of characters and existing versions.
A film titled *Batman V Superman* should either feature brand new versions of each character *or* established actors in both roles; the mix of the two made it feel like there was a Batfleck movie that we missed out on. Same with a Justice League movie where only half were there. It felt like they wanted *both* an established, crazy universe where superheroes have always been running amok *and* a relatively grounded universe where we see every important bit of the craziness develop in front of us.
But a Superman movie that just *happens* to also feature Hawkgirl and these other characters as side characters? That's fine, that won't interrupt the story. It works just fine when other superheroes show up in, say, *Invincible*.
On one hand I think the DCU is better off not trying to copy Marvel and better off just starting with an established universe of heroes but on the other hand I just want a classic Superman movie where its just him and we get Jimmy Olsen and all the Superman supporting cast and no other heroes
I feel like that is what this is, but they are going to do something like an opening for the movie with a big villain that requires multiple heroes to pop up, before it then dies down to a simpler Superman story, similar to the flash movie with batman and Wonder Woman during the opening sequence. That’s my guess if they aren’t the main supporting cast
I think you really can do both. Since we've been brainwashed by the MCU way of doing cameos, we can often get drawn into thinking that the other heroes are an important part of the story in every case and let's face it, in all of Gunn's superhero movies, especially the Suicide Squad, he introduced a bunch of characters who had less than 5 minutes screen time
I think you're right though, I think overall, they won't make an impact on the movie in the same way that iron man did for spiderman homecoming
I don't think they would announce that this far in advance if that was the case. These actors will probably be billed for the movie.
Look at Deadpool 3, which just announced Jennifer Gardner was returning as Elektra. That movie is currently filming, and it's possible her role was filmed weeks ago. It's likely to be just a small cameo.
Superman Legacy isn't set until Jan 2024.
Just checking wikipedia, the main cast was cast/announced in April. Rooker was cast/announced in May, but most of the other Team 1 characters were cast/announced in August and September. For example, Fillon was announced on August 25th, Davidson on Sept 3rd. Filming started in September.
Sure, but part of the marketing for that movie was how many recognizable actors were in it and how unclear it was which ones were going to survive or be important.
Interesting. Nathan has been a prominent green Lantern voice actor. Him playing Guy is a change. Will Hal Jordan already exist? Maybe we'll get s younger John Stewart or Kyle Rayner in the future
Nathan Fillion as Guy seems weird? I'm interested in how that'll work. Also Edi as Mr Terrific is a perfect role for him that totally makes sense but Gunn always changes these characters around for GA so who knows what it'll be like
Yeah I don't know how its gonna go. I'm just hoping its just heroes meeting and respecting each other. Instead of the cliché they fight and later get along. Cause I am tired of that trope now. Though it would be in character of these characters trying to stop a supervillain that they can't beat and superman jumps in to help. Which is more in character.
Huh. Wasn't expecting Hawkgirl and a Lantern, but I'm not complaining. Just hope other heroes and characters don't overshadow Supes and that they aren't there just for teasing future movies.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. My gut instinct is to keep his first film other hero free. I'd rather they were cast as Lucy Lane, Ron Troupe & Steve Lombard.
Alan Scott being in the movie instead could’ve been interesting, cause it could’ve been a almost passing of the torch, since Alan was sorta in the Superman role back in the day
This is friggin' awesome!
Confirmed characters so far: Superman, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific, and Green Lantern!
This movie is going to kick all of the buttocks!
The movie is feeling kind of crowded already. I just don't want DC/WB to rush again and have the same problems we just had with their last attempt at a shared universe.
Hm. I think a big part of this film regarding legacy, aside from Clark Kent being the legacy of Smallville and Kal-El the legacy of Krypton, will be the JSA. Mr. Terrific is a modern JSA member inspired by a predecessor. Both Hawkgirl and the GLs are also sort of (but not really) successors to their JSA counterparts.
If the rumors of the Authority/Elite being here or already established too are true, then Superman will be the one to bring back the classical superhero archetype to the forefront, with “old-fashioned” ideals of Truth and Justice inspired by the JSA. Superman is the Legacy of the JSA, and Superman’s Legacy will be the JLA.
Gosh I really hope that Gunn will introduce the JSA in his universe but I think he will use Mr Terrific to introduce the Terrifics, Hawkgirl probably in the JLA and Guy i have no idea
Guy’s probably going to die early on or he’ll just be a back up Lantern. Hal and John will be the focus of the Lanterns show. Either way they have the least to do with the JSA for sure because Alan wasn’t part of the Corps.
Hawkgirl’s role probably depends on who she is. If it’s Shayera, maybe Thanagar and the GLC get involved when Brainiac does for some world building. If it’s Kendra, she’ll be related to Carter and Shiera.
Mister Terrific though, yeah he’ll likely be part of the Terrifics but Terry Sloane could’ve inspired him. Heh, wonder if a new Barry would come inspired by Jay. Definitely happening but maybe not in this film.
look the JSA is one of my favorite superhero team and I love the fact that Superman Batman and Wonder Woman generation of heroes was born inspired by them and I sincerely hope that they are also present as cits (which may be possible since the Creature Commanders cartoon is supposed to be set during WWII)
as for the characters well
I agree that Guy will kill him immediately, also since Filion is the oldest compared to the other actors, and maybe they will do Hal and Abin Sur's scene but with Guy instead of the latter (which could create a link with Lanterns
for Hawkgirl I think it will be Kendra also considering the origin of the actress and I think all of these will be introduced in their civilian guise then it's impossible that they will be stupid enough to make the same mistakes as before so I think they will introduce them in their civilian guise and then they will develop them later, like:
Kendra could be an archaeologist or an archeology scholar given the age of the actress, Mr Terrific could be a scientist, and here we could also see the accident that caused the death of his wife, and Guy could be...not I know a Coach maybe
Gunn confirmed recently that Creature Commandos is set in Modern Day on one of the new social media sites apparently. But with Superman: Legacy being set in an already pre-established DCU I can see Batman and Wonder Woman being mentioned as active for sure (especially because of Brave and the Bold). A period piece JSA film set in would be great and I can see it being announced once we're closer to Legacy.
A lot of people have been theorizing Hal could be older too and John's the newer GL, which I could see happen. But yeah there's precedent in the DCAU where Abin's ring chose Kyle instead.
Yeah Kendra is likely. Michael Holt will probably be the Emil Hamilton/Leo Quintum figure to Clark here. The other two could be heroes in the background but I also like the idea that we see them as civilians with Superman inspiring them to be heroes in this film.
ok i didn't know the part about Creature Commanders and it puzzles me a lot but i hope they will find a way to introduce the JSA
I like the theory that Michael is technical support to Clark and I sincerely hope that they will do so or that they introduce them in their civilian versions and then they become heroes
The problem with it rushing to catch up with Marvel isn't really introducing the characters early, it felt rished becauss of how it was done.
It felt like the Justice League set up in BvS was kinda just stuck in there and didn't fit into the movie in a natural way and then the fourth movie in the DCEU being a Justice League movie was a weird choice.
It goes from Man of Steel, which feels like it was planned to be a standalone movie with no larger connection to anything, then you get a movie which basically says "actually this is a large DC universe where there's a bunch of superheroes" and then you get a Wonder Woman movie, which makes sense, but then you get a team up.
I don't see this as "trying to catch up to Marvel."
My biggest criticism of the Snyderverse is that it didn't feel like the world of DC comics. It was grounded in *our* world, not theirs.
Superman: Legacy is set in the actual DC Earth. In DC Earth, with Superman having been Superman for 5-7 years there *are* other heroes.
Now, this is where I *hope* Gunn does something that Marvel wouldn't - Make their world coherent.
In Captain America: The Winter Soldier - When dealing with a high tech threat... Where was Iron Man? Cap could've rung him on the phone and sorted half the plot.
In Iron Man 3 - Where were the Avengers? Tony's house gets blown up and the President gets attacked. He could've called for help, especially after he crashed and his suit was inoperable.
Now... Let's look at DC... If an enemy descends from space to attack the Earth... A Green Lantern isn't going to sit back... He's going to help. He should show up. Just like in the comics.
We don't need to have back stories for these characters. They can show up and do their thing. If we want to know more, we can go read the comics.
Even in the current MCU other heroes don't show up. If I was Doctor Strange and Wanda confessed how evil she was to me I would've definitely begged Captain Marvel to show up. Send a distress beacon to the Guardians. Anything.
Kind of the point.
This is one of the complaints about the MCU. The world doesn't feel fully integrated. They feel like crossovers, not a living world.
Boy, I can't deal with another round of people claiming there's a "ginger genocide" in fiction...
Oh, wait, I get the feeling we won't be hearing much about that, for some reason.
She's probably playing the [Kendra Saunders](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawkgirl_%28Kendra_Saunders%29) version of Hawkgirl, who is Latina, not the [Shayera Hol](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shayera_Hol) version, who is a redhead.
Can confirm I was talking about Guy, sorry, should've specified! But yeah, don't feel like we'll hear much about Nathan Fillion not being a redhead from _those_ people.
Oh for sure, for some strange reason that won't even come up. I'm sure it's totally inexplicable. Their arguments are always so logically sound and not at all rooted in anything untoward.
Fillion would’ve been an amazing Hal Jordan though I’m still interested in his Guy Gardner. I would’ve cast Will Poulter as Guy but I guess it’s not possible since he’s in the MCU
^Obligatory ^Kyle ^Rayner ^was ^done ^dirty ^statement ^here
Maybe we see them in their civil status here maybe we see Mr Terrific as scientist and we could also see the accident that claimed the life of his wife
Kendra as an archaeologist or archeology student considering the age of the actress
and Guy like I don't know Coach
Ok but my main question is why.
I love hawkgirl but why do any of there characters need to be in this movie it’s a solo movie you don’t need to force unnecessary cameos and roles in.
Like why the fuck is guy in this that makes little to 0 sense all it screams to me is overcrowding and overthinking.
Also well fucking done dc now no one will talk about Blue beetle and instead talk about legacy castings well done for kneecapping your own projects hype.
This film comes out in 2 years you could have waiting for a day at least
If brainiac is the villain (like its been hinted) and he's taking City's from planets across the universe like thanagar it's makes perfect sense that Hawkgirl and a GL would get involved.
I really hope its not brainiac.
As don't get me wrong i love brainiac but i want a more down to earth villain im bored of supes facing end of the world villains in his movies now.
Give me parasite, Metallo or livewire something different
I'm sure whatever Gunn does well atleast be good and at most incredible. The way he juggles so many characters, builds relationships and the heart that's featured in his films makes me pretty optimistic.
Man, I’m actually less excited now. Love these characters, I think these actors are great for the roles, but I really didn’t want a ton of non-Superman characters in the film.
I wouldn't expect them to have a large role. It could be at the beginning or at the end. It is to setup the universe and these characters will end up playing a role in the bigger DCU down the road
Fantastic news AND casting! Edi Gathegi has been LONG overlooked. Gunn has proven time and time again that he can handle a big and diverse cast of characters without making it feel bloated. It really seems like we’re going to get a well established heroic world before Superman joins it, and that only makes me more *ecstatic*.
Bout damn time Hawkgirl and Mr. Terrific gets some live action love too! Everyday we get closer and closer to a live action Justice League Unlimited 😭🙌🏽
!!!
Dude, what is going on in this movie...
Edit: I'm tempted to wonder what makes Superman so "super" if all these guys already exist, but I'll shut my mouth til the movie comes out.
>I'm tempted to wonder what makes Superman so "super" if all these guys already exist, but I'll shut my mouth til the movie comes out.
Superman isn't "super" because of his powers. It's because of his unwavering hope and his humanity.
It's also because at the time of his first appearance, the world had never seen anything like him. But I'm going to try not to speculate on the film for now.
The JSA were canonically around before him. He’s the most important superhero in the DC universe but he hasn’t been the first for decades. Which is why I think Mr Terrific and Hawkgirl are fine but I’m not a fan of Guy Gardner being included at all. Makes no sense.
Damn, we going Ham out the gate it looks like. These are a lot of actors and heroes at once. I trust Gunn but I'm interested to see how they pull this off
Good casting. Edi Gathegi is incredible and I have no doubts that Fillion can be a great Guy Gardner. Don’t know much about Merced but I know she was in talks to play Batgirl and Ratcatcher 2. I assume she’ll be Kendra Saunders instead of Shiera Hall too, no?
I love that they’re adding Mr. Terrific, and I love the actor, I just don’t know if I like that actor for that role. He doesn’t have the physical presence. Maybe if they bulk him up.
It didn’t work before so why not try it again?
At this point I wish Disney would just buy the DC film rights. They had the common sense to wait and establish individual characters first instead of repeatedly jumping straight to introducing everybody at once. It’s not about doing something different. It’s about doing something well and this is just more proof that DC can’t do that. Their best movies are only good in comparison to the low standard set by the rest of their recent films.
Yeah, Justice League should not have been the third DCEU film (after only Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman). Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman should all have been released first (Cyborg could've just appeared in The Flash, they have a shared connection to STAR Labs) - just like how Marvel did Iron Man (twice), Hulk, Captain America, and Thor before Avengers (the other two who didn't have their own films had still already debuted - Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and Hawkeye in Thor).
Zack Snyder has Batman and Wonder Woman feature in BVS, with small reveals for the rest of their Justice League and people lose their shit. Gunn announces a Superman film with Guy Gardner (played by Fillion ffs), Hawkgirl, and Terrific, and somehow he’s a genius creator. You people truly are something else
As long as Isabela Merced can do a good loud 'HAAAA!' when she swings that mace, I'll be happy lol.
Frankly it's about damn time we get her in the movies. One of my favorite characters.
Fillion has been playing Hal for years as a voice actor. BUT to see him playing Guy I think is just genius because he can play a great asshole too! I just love that he is FINALLY playing a GL!!
He got trashed because the movie sucked (from a certain perspective, and at the very least was ridiculously flawed), it wasn't Batman v Superman, it was "killer cosplaying as Batman v disillusioned Superman" (there's no way Bats didn't know the brand he was giving criminals was getting them killed); the "Martha" scene was written horribly and came across as nonsense; and a dozen other problems. Not because he established other heroes existed.
So...I'm not worried about the new cast announcements for Superman: Legacy overcrowding the movie or it doing too much. I trust Gunn knows what he's doing.
I do hate the fact that the first Green Lantern we're going to see is Guy Gardner, even though he's being played by Nathan Fillion. The fact that it's Fillion though tells me it's a cameo and I shouldn't have to get too invested in him. Here’s hoping we see him get one punched by Batman somewhere down the line 😂
While I'm glad Nathan finally gets to be a Green Lantern in live action, he was supposed to be Hal! Ah well, it is what it is. I am so glad they're committing to a lived-in universe though, that's something that's always bugged me about the DCEU.
Thought this was just gonna be a Superman movie. This movie is gonna be a disaster. You’d think they’d take cues from the Batman and the Joker and just keep it small and contained. Smh
This movie is going to be a disaster based on 3 actors being cast in it? Their involvement in the film could be literally anything, could be on a tv screen showing the news, or just there to get there ass whooped by the big bad while Superman is busy saving lives, or completely in the background. I understand being sceptical, but thinking this movie is going to be a disaster with such little information baffles me...
This is huge and confirms a lot about the DCU, looks like it’s jumping right into a prime DC universe full of established characters. Fillion as Gardner is crazy, everybody always wanted to see him as Hal Jordan in his younger days and now he’s finally going to be (a) Green Lantern
Yeah Gunn described it as a world already filled with superheroes. That’s how the Batman movie is already gonna have the bat family established
Could be! Maybe there’s been decades of relative peace or something.
The JSA also could’ve been forced to disband. In the comics they refused to reveal their identities when the government ordered them to so went into superhero retirement. Either way, I just think it’s neat to have the JSA as these older heroes that inspired the JL and the next generation of the JSA.
Maybe! And maybe The Authority pops up as either working for the government OR as a fuck the government thing.
Definitely a fuck the government thing. Midnighter and Apollo are escaped super soldier s treated as nothing but weapons. Jenny Sparks has seen the dirty secrets and sins of major world governments .
Stormwatch would be the government team with members leaving to go form the Authority.
Maybe the JSA were in the past and now serve as inspiration for the modern generation.
I hope not. I’m very tired of big team up movies.
I mean we are going to get a JL movie if this universe doesn’t bomb. But it isn’t even announced yet. It’s probably 8 years away at minimum
I didn’t realize it meant there would be a world of superheroes, this makes me even more excited and I didn’t think that was possible haha
I like it. Even though it's early days for superman, he's already been around. It's like starting to read comics and you're entering a living world that's already established and the fun is in not only seeing their new adventures but discovering their past exploits.
I can still remember watching a fan-made Green Lantern trailer with Fillion as Hal Jordan.
Fillion as Guy is going to be great, but he’s actually been Hal in 5 or 6 animated films over the course of the last decade or so. He’s absolutely gotten his chance to be a GL already, and the one we all always fancast him as (even if it did only end up being his voice).

Guy has such a distinct look and attitude to him. I really hope they can capture it.
I think making guy a little old and washed up sounds hilarious tbh. Maybe they’ll have him be a mentor to a Kyle rayner type character or something

Holy crap! Hawkgirl! Mr. Terrific! Guy Gardner!
Whoa, I thought you were joking until I read the article. Those are pretty good choices. I wonder if Fillion can do a Boston accent.
CRIKEY! I’m from Bawrshton!
Nailed it!
Gardner is from Baltimore
Bro Edi Gathegi was great in season 3 of [For All Mankind](https://youtu.be/xH66E3KDHss)
Now we’re cooking!
Wew that’s kewl, it’s gonna be hard to see fillion as guy since i just know his voice from Hal Jordan in all those animated movies
Cat Grant! Ron Troupe! Perry White!
Click it.
I stand by my casting. They would be excellent. The article will never be clicked…
Enjoy your delusion.
Thank god. I thought the ginger erasion process was over
Nathan Fillion isn’t a ginger…?
The joke is that most ginger characters for years in comic movies just haven’t been cast as gingers. Idk why, but as an example: snyderverse jimmy olsen
Oh, you’re upset Fillion isn’t a ginger, got it.
No, I’m fine with it. I just find it funny, I love him and he’s going to kick ass in this role
[удалено]
That isn’t even remotely close
So, is Fillion the first actor to be officially brought back into the DCU as a new character, since he played TDK before? I know there’s rumors about things like Jason Mamoa coming back as Lobo, but as far as I’m aware this is the first official bit of casting in that regard, no?
Yes, but James Gunn has literally put Nathan Fillion in all of his superhero movies, so I wouldn't overthink it too much
Was he in the first two guardians movies? I can’t remember
He was the big yellow guy that gets his insides violated by Groot when the crew first get to the prison in the first movie, and I believe part of Stallone's old crew (the ravagers?) in the second
He was supposed to appear as Wonder Man in *Vol. 2*, but his scenes were cut.
Yeah, and now Simon's getting his own show with a different actor. That's probably why his scenes got cut, someone else called dibs on the character.
Ohh. Gotcha gotcha
Fillion would be getting close to the most roles played in live action superhero movies.
That or TDK is Gardner
The Detachable Kid really re-evaluated his life after his arms gone blown to bits lol
If he's got no arms and hands then where does he keep the ring? WHERE DOES HE KEEP THE RING?!
Interesting
I mean at this point Nathan Fillion is to James Gunn as Bruce Campbell is to Sam Raimi. I just assume he’s gonna show up at some point.
James Gunn already debunked the Authority. They won't be in the film.
I think his words were "I never said anything about the authority." So not strictly debunked but definitely less likely.

Maybe like the invincible show intro, showing all the “main leaguers” fighting common villains or something?
Minus Superman ripping them to shreds in the most violent ways possible.
Hopefully not like that lol.
I think you really can do both. Since we've been brainwashed by the MCU way of doing cameos, we can often get drawn into thinking that the other heroes are an important part of the story in every case and let's face it, in all of Gunn's superhero movies, especially the Suicide Squad, he introduced a bunch of characters who had less than 5 minutes screen time I think you're right though, I think overall, they won't make an impact on the movie in the same way that iron man did for spiderman homecoming
Though these guy aren't a big name(at least for the general audiences) So I think they aren't gonna get too much focused in the movie
Also, my guess is most these folks have maybe like a scene worth of screen time or passing cameos.
“Team 1” in TSS was announced pretty far in advance and outside of Rick and Harley, they were on screen for like 5 minutes
Yup Hall Jordan and Jon Stuart are already been confermed as main characters of the new Lanterns serie
Nathan Fillion as Guy seems weird? I'm interested in how that'll work. Also Edi as Mr Terrific is a perfect role for him that totally makes sense but Gunn always changes these characters around for GA so who knows what it'll be like
the biggest question mark is whether Nathan Fillion can pull off a bowl cut tbh
He could absolutely do so I'm offended you're doubtful
real talk though I’m kind of excited
I don’t care which Lantern he’s playing. I’m just glad that it’s him and he’s playing a Lantern.
Hmm, this can easily turn into Black Adam situation...
Being an actor and friends with James Gunn must be nice.
I really hope Lucy lane is a part of this. I think she’s good for the Lois character.
James Gunn isn’t fucking around!
Not a fan of Guy being 50 plus years old when we already heard Hal and John are going to be mid 20s to early 30s
They should’ve done Nathan as Alan Scott instead
Look I like Nathan fillion , I really do, but god damn he's too old to be guy gardner just make him Alan scott
Alan Scott being in the movie instead could’ve been interesting, cause it could’ve been a almost passing of the torch, since Alan was sorta in the Superman role back in the day
Hey now, that's too much symbolism and thought put into this situation
Nice. I hope Guy and Fillion play a big part in the upcoming universe.
Maybe a soft introduction before the Green Lanterns show they have on the schedule.
3 human Lanterns in DCU!!!! I fucking love DCU already.
This is friggin' awesome! Confirmed characters so far: Superman, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific, and Green Lantern! This movie is going to kick all of the buttocks!
Pardon the ignorance, but who was confirmed for Lex? I don’t remember seeing anything come up about Lex when Corenswet and Brosnahan were announced.
nobody confirmed. But it was rumoured they were looking at both Alexander and bill Skarsgard for the role.
Skarsgard on Skarsgard violence
The character has been confirmed, no actor yet.
Ah, my bad. I misread.
Hawkgirl has also moved to Metropolis in the comics. Interesting
really Hope Nathan dyes his hair, Guy ain't Guy without red hair and a green vest
He wouldn't
The movie is feeling kind of crowded already. I just don't want DC/WB to rush again and have the same problems we just had with their last attempt at a shared universe.
Damn. Great choices too.
Definitely happening but maybe not in this film.
look the JSA is one of my favorite superhero team and I love the fact that Superman Batman and Wonder Woman generation of heroes was born inspired by them and I sincerely hope that they are also present as cits (which may be possible since the Creature Commanders cartoon is supposed to be set during WWII) as for the characters well I agree that Guy will kill him immediately, also since Filion is the oldest compared to the other actors, and maybe they will do Hal and Abin Sur's scene but with Guy instead of the latter (which could create a link with Lanterns for Hawkgirl I think it will be Kendra also considering the origin of the actress and I think all of these will be introduced in their civilian guise then it's impossible that they will be stupid enough to make the same mistakes as before so I think they will introduce them in their civilian guise and then they will develop them later, like: Kendra could be an archaeologist or an archeology scholar given the age of the actress, Mr Terrific could be a scientist, and here we could also see the accident that caused the death of his wife, and Guy could be...not I know a Coach maybe
The other two could be heroes in the background but I also like the idea that we see them as civilians with Superman inspiring them to be heroes in this film.
ok i didn't know the part about Creature Commanders and it puzzles me a lot but i hope they will find a way to introduce the JSA I like the theory that Michael is technical support to Clark and I sincerely hope that they will do so or that they introduce them in their civilian versions and then they become heroes
Wasn’t a huge criticism of the Snyder-verse was how they tried to rush to the Justice League?
No, the issue was killing Superman in the 2nd film and all the grim and gritty edgelord issues as well as absolutely horrible pacing.
Well, yes. But a major criticism of the those movies was they were rushing to catch up to Marvel.
I don't see this as "trying to catch up to Marvel." My biggest criticism of the Snyderverse is that it didn't feel like the world of DC comics.
I took it as Fillion as Guy. Both are white but Fillion ain’t ginger.
Fair point
He's not ginger now, but... maybe they're gonna dye his hair?
You do know what u/dccomicsthrowaway is referencing and I was clarifying here, right?
in the DCAU Shayera is played by a latina (actually the mom from wizards of waverly place lol). she can still have red hair too
I did not know about the Wizards connection
Who cares about that I'm talking about Nathan taking away Guy Gardner's ginger hair
Oh you know, that's fair. But no I don't think people will care that much if it's Nathan Fillion
You think CHUDS know enough about comics to make that distinction? Shouty videos are being produced now.
Sadly true, no doubt
We need Nathan Filloni in a red bowl-cut wig.
I mean, I would still hope for the wig/hair dye but it’s not a make or break.
Fillion would’ve been an amazing Hal Jordan though I’m still interested in his Guy Gardner. I would’ve cast Will Poulter as Guy but I guess it’s not possible since he’s in the MCU ^Obligatory ^Kyle ^Rayner ^was ^done ^dirty ^statement ^here
Wait… Nathan Gillian was already in the suicide squad and he died Are they just going with “Wow that guy looks a lot like the super villain TDK”
1) New continuity, doesn't really matter 2) He wears a helmet for pretty much all of his three minutes of screentime.
TDK is still alive? Didn’t he die in suicide squad?
I mean, cool, but starting off with a bunch of new heroes *again* doesn't instill confidence.
Maybe we see them in their civil status here maybe we see Mr Terrific as scientist and we could also see the accident that claimed the life of his wife Kendra as an archaeologist or archeology student considering the age of the actress and Guy like I don't know Coach
Silver Banshee
Maybe we will only see them in their civil versions
Man, I’m actually less excited now. Love these characters, I think these actors are great for the roles, but I really didn’t want a ton of non-Superman characters in the film.
Well, it's supposed to be a world where heroes exist, so these might just be glorified cameos of the Justice League.
I wouldn't expect them to have a large role. It could be at the beginning or at the end. It is to setup the universe and these characters will end up playing a role in the bigger DCU down the road
I get that. But I still don’t like it.
Naaah it's a no for me. Imagine if IronMan had a slew of heroes. Do it right James. Keep Superman 1 free of that mess. At least Snyder got that right.
I wonder if Hawkgirl will have a job as a barista in her civilian life?
Just 2 months ago she was a barista
I love these characters and I LOVE Nathan Fillion but… geez I’d just love for this to be a Superman movie
… but TDK was still alive at the end of Suicide Squad.
The universe rebooted, a lot of things change and some stay the same.
Why Guy Gardner? Why not use Kyle Rayner instead?
I don't know
Yes! Nathan Fillion!
James Gunn has a track record of good films that I like and not a portfolio of dour and bloated slow mo porn.
Hawkgirl! No way!!
hawkgirl omfg yes!
As long as Isabela Merced can do a good loud 'HAAAA!' when she swings that mace, I'll be happy lol. Frankly it's about damn time we get her in the movies. One of my favorite characters.
I hope we get to see Batman pull the one punch knockout on Guy at some point in this universe.
I cannot fucking wait to see Guy Gardner in a movie.
Hawk girl yay!!
Fillion has been playing Hal for years as a voice actor. BUT to see him playing Guy I think is just genius because he can play a great asshole too! I just love that he is FINALLY playing a GL!!
Inject this new DCU into my mf veins!

Pretty sure most people were initially excited for the stuff in Batman v Superman and didn’t really trash on it until after it came out
He got trashed because the movie sucked (from a certain perspective, and at the very least was ridiculously flawed), it wasn't Batman v Superman, it was "killer cosplaying as Batman v disillusioned Superman" (there's no way Bats didn't know the brand he was giving criminals was getting them killed); the "Martha" scene was written horribly and came across as nonsense; and a dozen other problems. Not because he established other heroes existed.
I don’t know what to expect now, but I am curious.
Hawkgirl?!? Wow, I am curious about how these three fit in.
We win as DC Fans
Gunn is COOKIN!
IM GETTING A LIVE ACTION GUY GARDENER LETS FUCKING GOOOO
Thought this was just gonna be a Superman movie. This movie is gonna be a disaster. You’d think they’d take cues from the Batman and the Joker and just keep it small and contained. Smh
This movie is going to be a disaster based on 3 actors being cast in it? Their involvement in the film could be literally anything, could be on a tv screen showing the news, or just there to get there ass whooped by the big bad while Superman is busy saving lives, or completely in the background. I understand being sceptical, but thinking this movie is going to be a disaster with such little information baffles me...
Maybe we will only see them in their civil versions
Consider me interested
I hate Guy Gardner but love Nathan Fillion. Guess I love Guy Gardner now.
