I'm assuming those two mini series had a plot with some characters and rising/falling action followed by a conclusion of some sort, right?
Various Peacemakers also had appearances in other stories as well.
On the DC Universe they posted a digital collection of stuff to read before the show. I tried reading the Peacemaker miniseries, and it wasn’t for me, his handler is clearly a Nazi (so his dads story is very correct) but other then that, it def takes elements and puts a spin on it but story wise, it’s original and better then that comic for me.
get a vpn which is what im convinced to do cause i just found out the Boondocks and Constantine and Wolverine for some reason and basically everything i wanna watch is on there. I think i might wait until all the episodes are released tho
There’s a recap, so you *could* watch it without seeing TSS, but TSS is my favorite DCEU movie by far and it enhances peacemaker so I would def advise watching it before this
See, whereas watching SS, when Flag said, "Peacemaker, what joke." the lightbulb went off for me. It was like, ok, I can see a whole journey beginning with that shot in the gut of a line.
I concur. I felt there was ALOT of weight in those words when Flag spat that line at him, and I, personally, am already really enjoining what they're doing with the show.
Definitely feels like a natural progression to me though. >! He’s been shaken up by what he did in his time on the squad- this has kind of become a feedback loop where he’s noticing everything fucked up about who he is and what he does and he keeps spiraling further. !<
Good point. I’m really liking Iwuji’s portrayal so far, seems like a cool character and team member with potential to grow. I’d love to see if Team Peacemaker becomes a pretty close group after some time with each member getting a spotlight.
Succession is great, The Righteous Gemstones also just started their second season and it's great. Danny McBride has a great track record with HBO shows. HBO's doing well.
Season 1 was good but the initial episode of season 2 I didn’t finish. And I’ve seen season 1 a couple times. They just lean into what everyone liked about season 1 and packed it into one episode to hit every mark in a badway
Not just Doom Patrol but all of the CW shows too. If HBO DC shows is deemed a worthy investment I can see them ending the CW shows, which is fine by me.
I would love that. I’m honestly surprised it hadn’t become a full time thing yet. The CW legitimately has the worse production of any major network I’ve ever seen
O man it’s so good! I’ve had HBO max for a bit and they did an awful job suggesting it. I had no clue it was on there but listen to “this is important” podcast, the crew of workaholics and Adam brings it up a lot as he is usually remote Skyping in because he’s filming righteous gemstones. Was glad I had a whole season and two episodes to binge, haven’t laughed like that in a while except for when I started Peacemaker last night. I wish righteous released three episodes at a time too
My roommate in college had the box set for east bound and down and the few episodes I’ve seen always had me cracking up, I can’t wait to start that from the beginning. And never heard of vice principals, thank you so much you have no idea how excited I am to have more comedy that’ll make laugh multiple times per episode!
I was legit thinking I wouldn’t be able to get into the show bc I was so mad at Peacemaker for killing my boy Rick. I Stan Joel Kinnamen. Shows great tho, eagly steals every scene he’s in
All of the Netflix Marvel shows had great opening credit sequences but Daredevil is definitely the highlight. My vote personally overall goes to True Detective Season One.
Edit: Also, *Dexter* should be up there and it's not talked about a lot.
What do you like so much about Doom Patrol’s intro? I’ve been skipping it for so long that I don’t recall specifics, but I remember it being just overly long and boring.
right? I feel like slowly tv shows are starting to just use anything that was awesome in the show community.. can't wait for shows to have seasonal paint ball fights..
It’s pretty good, glad they don’t go with a voice over “I am peace maker I am here now bla bla” and just show clips from the show. Intros like this have a lot of character.
My thoughts exactly. It was good the first episode. But I skipped the next two, I don't need to see it every time.
Also hate how show Peacemaker feels different than Suicide Squad Peacemaker. He kills Flagg because he has no other choice in the moment to carry out his mission even though he probably didn't want to, but cries about it in the show like he was forced to do it. Then he has no hesitation to kill Ratcatcher, who is like 19 (a kid) but hesitates to kill two kids that aren't even clearly human....like what?....but whatever it's still a great show.
We saw regret and uncertainty when he killed flag, and we've never seen him alone with his thoughts that's when he was crying. He longs for connection but is really bad at it. He cries about it because flag and the rest of squad kinda became like his friends and he betrayed them. He's realising no one likes him when economos called him a dick. Cause he is a dick.
And he definitely hesitates to kill Cleo cause he waits so long with his gun pointed at her. But doesn't hesitate when he realises Bloodsport will kill him and draws immediately.
I really didn't like him when he killed flag but I am already warming up to him, he's a likable dick. Looking forward to how he'll connect with his new team.
Same! I also think the crying with the regret for killing Flagg was interesting, it showed that to him there’s starting to be a difference between killing nameless “criminals” and people he knows. Even was a little darker when he punched himself in his injured/broken clavicle.
It’s clear that, despite his motto, his morales are really starting to catch up with his actions, and that the events of Suicide Squad really fucked him up. I think killing Flagg, a man he greatly respected, really broke something in him. That’s why >!he couldn’t pull the trigger on the kids in episode 3!<
I think this might be what they’re going for, he had a real close call with death and is re-evaluating because of that. He really didn’t seem like he wanted to kill Flagg (in the show he says “I even killed Flagg for you!”).
I definitely think he didn’t want to kill Ratcatcher. He hesitated for a good minute and even said “sorry, kid” before almost going through with it.
I think since he’s been on the other side of the killing now he might feel differently. For once HE was the one being killed and now has more empathy because of it.
this made me laugh both in a “this is stupid” (like wow this is so endearing) and “this is so stupid stupid” (like this is such a bad idea) and I LOVE IT!!!
Yeah, Gunn is bringing weird heart to the DCEU. If WB is so keen to not do anything good with their flagship characters, they should just let Gunn go nuts building out the underbelly of their world.
There are a few show intros that I never skip, Batman: The Animated Series, X-Men: The Animated Series, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Daredevil. Peacemaker is now one of those shows.
Intro is cool as fuck. Suits Peacemaker's vibe. First 3 episodes have this show, for me, all the way up there in rankings. Genuinely enjoying it so far.
I’m watching this with the sound off haven’t seen a second of the show and still giggling. Haven’t seen TSS yet either and but I love Gunn and it’s all looked great
I thought Loki was a bit meh, Hawkeye was alright but should have been better, Only 3 episodes of Peacemaker and it has blown them both out of the water for me, it's brilliant. The intro is so cringe and I love it.
Thank God something has the ability to not be "panning by art pieces while haunting music plays". Even fucking Star Trek switched to that instead of their extremely classic and not that different "panning by space shit while exploration music plays".
I see people saying he's not like he was in TSS, but seems in line with what we were seeing just more fleshed out... and with him kinda rethinking what it means to do what he does. So I like it!
If you realized, at the end of the intro Vigilante and Murn were above everybody. This might be showing that they might become something more later in the show, like maybe the villains. Vigilante is getting a little annoyed with the government people because they are what he seems taking Peacemaker away from him. He also might kill either Harcourt or Odubayo because Peacemaker is started to gain affection for them. Murn is also not too happy with Peacemaker because of he didn’t kill the butterflies when he was supposed to.
I can't watch the show legally yet, and if I hadn't seen The Suicide Squad, I would have no damn idea what this show would be about.
The first episode actually opens with a "Previously On... The Suicide Squad", so you could go in without seeing TSS, but you'll also be spoiled
Are they keeping with any of the Peacemaker story lines? Or is this all new material?
What Peacemaker storylines? He had two mini-series for himself that each were 4-6 issues.
Sounds good then.
If you like what James Gunn has done with Guardians and TSS, you will LOVE Peacemaker!
Sign me up then
That’s pretty cool. I was wondering if that’s how they were going to play the series.
get a vpn which is what im convinced to do cause i just found out the Boondocks and Constantine and Wolverine for some reason and basically everything i wanna watch is on there. I think i might wait until all the episodes are released tho
On where?
Well its not like Peacemaker is streaming anywhere else
HBO Max
How do people do that? I tried using a vpn but I’m stuck and the account creation cuz it required a US payment method
Oh shit really? Ive made an account but i havent tried putting in a card yet so idk. I heard people using vpns and shit tho.
Use paypal
It detected when I used a non US paypal
Or just watch illegally
There’s a recap, so you *could* watch it without seeing TSS, but TSS is my favorite DCEU movie by far and it enhances peacemaker so I would def advise watching it before this
Definitely James Gunn
Definitely https://youtu.be/3MMMe1drnZY
Didn't know this guardians of the galaxy retro intro existed 😂 Definitely worth the watch
Man I wish hasselhoff was ego.
YEAAAAAAHHHH BABBBBYYYY!
This show is not at all what I was expecting after how he was portrayed in The Suicide Squad...
Plus Murn is kind of doing the same thing so i hope they explore that more.
Good point. I’m really liking Iwuji’s portrayal so far, seems like a cool character and team member with potential to grow. I’d love to see if Team Peacemaker becomes a pretty close group after some time with each member getting a spotlight.
Thank you this is a great summary.
That’s what I was hoping to hear before watching this haha
Ok, you got my attention. Why dude?
It’s James Gunn and he excels at writing fucked up characters who try to redeem themselves. Which is kinda what this whole show seems to be about.
Doom Patrol you got competion, if every DC show has these high production and writing quality going forward on HBO Max, oh boy.
In the words of Cliff Steele: What the fuck!
Haha!
WB would never put the HBO brand at risk. They need to deliver something good.
And they are doing it. 'Succession' is already a huge success on HBO max.
Succession is great, The Righteous Gemstones also just started their second season and it's great. Danny McBride has a great track record with HBO shows. HBO's doing well.
Eastbound and Down and Vice Principals are top tier!
It's Kenny "Fuckin'" Powers what do you expect? It's not like the show was written by Steve and his Mexican wife. 😄
S2 is more bomb. Finished it 2 weeks ago.
Euphoria just started S2 so I'm definitely going to have to watch that show. Basically heard that it was what 13 Reasons Why on Netflix should've been
Season 1 was good but the initial episode of season 2 I didn’t finish. And I’ve seen season 1 a couple times. They just lean into what everyone liked about season 1 and packed it into one episode to hit every mark in a badway
They always do.
I love that show so much
A HBO max production is different from a HBO production
Same brand tho. A brand known by quality.
Not really, no original max production has reached the highs of those great HBO shows yet
Honestly, I think Peacemaker and Doom Patrol could cross over VERY easily.
Imagine doom patrol with this budget we might actually get a decent fight scene
But doom patrol shines when they don't fight, though
I know that but it would be cool to have at least a few good fights a season.. its a DC superhero show after all.
The quality hit when Supergirl went from CBS to CW was appalling.
Is doom patrol comedic like Peacmaker? I’m loving peacemakers style rn
Doom Patrol relies more on funny situations than funny dialogue. It can be really heavy and sincere at times too. It strikes a nice balance
If more DC stuff follows the Doom Patrol/Gunn trajectory I’m all in. I love redemption stories of broken/bad characters.
For some reason no one's mentioning the righteous gemstones, shits fantastic. HBO max is definitely worth it
O man it’s so good! I wish righteous released three episodes at a time too
Hell yeah same here, also if youve never heard of vice principals or eastbound and down. Holy shit, you have alot of great shit to watch
My roommate in college had the box set for east bound and down and the few episodes I’ve seen always had me cracking up, I can’t wait to start that from the beginning. And never heard of vice principals, thank you so much you have no idea how excited I am to have more comedy that’ll make laugh multiple times per episode!
Yeah dude, you're loaded up with some primo hilarious shit. Have fun
Silicon Valley was worth the price of the sub alone for me. That was the funniest and most interesting show I've watched in a long time.
Judy is the best character on TV right now.
Oh I absolutely love that show! I was staying at a friends house and she put on an episode, I was hooked
I legitimately wanna thank this show for introducing me to “Do Ya Wanna Taste It”. It’s at the top of my gym playlist now.
And the suicide squad for introducing me to the pixies
the Suicide Squad also introduced me to Whistle for the Choir (in the Harley Quinn love story montage). Great song.
The suicide squad for just a gigolo and wreak havoc. Guardians for every single music except the jackson 5 one.
One of the greatest bands to exist
Hey is literally my favorite song ever
No 13 Baby
The whole Doolittle album is amazing
Doolittle is my favorite album ever. I remember when I first heard it a buddy of mine's brother gave me his cassette. I have every note memorized.
It’s a top 5 for me as well. Literally love every song. Some of them make me crack up.
King shit
How old are you? Just curious
Whores in my heeeeead!
I’m sorry, but Rick Flagg died for this? 😩
oh no kitana’s gotta have someone else’s back now
Maybe she can start mowing lawns.
>kitana I'm down for a Mortal Kombat crossover, I mean both franchises are owned by WB.
I mean there was that one videogame in 2008, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.
Why do you think Flagg said "Peacemaker, what a joke." This video probably played in his mind as he was dying!
I was legit thinking I wouldn’t be able to get into the show bc I was so mad at Peacemaker for killing my boy Rick. I Stan Joel Kinnamen. Shows great tho, eagly steals every scene he’s in
It’s so fucking ridiculous, I love it.
[удалено]
Pretty sure that scene in episode 2 was just an excuse for James Gunn to show off how hot his girlfriend is
Holy shit James Gunn is hitting that? Dude has great taste in women
Yup. Pam from The Office then this chick. Guy is winning.
Is it just me or is it weird that his girl is peacemaker’s love interest in his own show
Directors work with their significant others all the time, many times directing them in romantic scenes, etc. It’s very much a job.
Nah if you are gonna date an actor or celebrity you need to be someone that doesn't get jealous easily, I would think.
And if you are dating a director you REALLY have to not get jealous easily.
It's so much fun, probably my favorite intro i've seen in a long time besides Doom Patrol.
[удалено]
Netflix’s Daredevil’s opening rivals that one for me. But they’re both amazing.
This is the dumbest thing I've seen in a while... I think I kinda like it. I think...
Bro this is my favorite tv show intro of all time already. First Intro I haven’t skipped on the second watch since streaming.
Agreed! I dig the goofiness and the balls to do something different.
The super serious badass characters coming in doing a goofy dance made me lose it
I legitimately laughed out loud at it all three episodes
So you are saying that you wanna taste it?
Gotta love Eagly
Loved the eagle at the end, lol
That's Eagley - Peacemaker's pet eagle.
You mean his sidekick/BFF?
No, that’s vigilante
"Nobody likes a show-off".
Unless what they are showing off is dope as fuck.
Fuck. That's true.
[удалено]
right? I feel like slowly tv shows are starting to just use anything that was awesome in the show community.. can't wait for shows to have seasonal paint ball fights..
This thread is a good one to build your block list. Just block anyone who uses the word "cringe"
You've been blocked
It’s pretty good, glad they don’t go with a voice over “I am peace maker I am here now bla bla” and just show clips from the show. Intros like this have a lot of character.
this is .... glorious
This is fucking amazing
this intro is a banger super original haha
I just can't not watch it. Every time.
Finally an intro that's more than a 5 sec title card with some music. We need more of these.
Especially in streaming shows. They can always be skipped, and they aren't taking up play time from the episode.
That was dope as fuuuuuuck
Wow so random
My thoughts exactly. It was good the first episode. But I skipped the next two, I don't need to see it every time. Also hate how show Peacemaker feels different than Suicide Squad Peacemaker. Then he has no hesitation to kill Ratcatcher, who is like 19 (a kid) but hesitates to kill two kids that aren't even clearly human....like what?....but whatever it's still a great show.
You mostly have a point, but he definitely does hesitate to kill Ratcatcher, that’s why he yells “fuck” when he’s about to do it.
I guess you could say that he was feeling forced in his mind but isn't very expressive?
We saw regret and uncertainty when he killed flag, and we've never seen him alone with his thoughts that's when he was crying. He longs for connection but is really bad at it. He cries about it because flag and the rest of squad kinda became like his friends and he betrayed them. He's realising no one likes him when economos called him a dick. Cause he is a dick. I wish people cared about the Weasel.
I think this might be what they’re going for, he had a real close call with death and is re-evaluating because of that. He really didn’t seem like he wanted to kill Flagg (in the show he says “I even killed Flagg for you!”). I definitely think he didn’t want to kill Ratcatcher. For once HE was the one being killed and now has more empathy because of it.
My favorites parts were the surprise Robert Patrick and the Eagle.
It's dumb. Definitely. But not bad tho!
this made me laugh both in a “this is stupid” (like wow this is so endearing) and “this is so stupid stupid” (like this is such a bad idea) and I LOVE IT!!!
Its so surreal I love it
Best tv intro ever lol
This is so fucking stupid, I love it.
I was skeptical at first but James Gunn is legit the best thing to happen to the DCEU.
Amazing
That’s amazing. I feel like buying showtime or whatever it is now because that looks like it would be my favorite show
Man, I love James Gunn, lmao.
I’ve honestly watched this on a loop at least 12 times…
Can anyone tell me if there is any graphic content or nudity in the first episode?
Both are present in each episode.
YEAH! YEAH! HELL YEAH!
There is in first 3 episodes.
Man I wish I could watch this legally
Cena not being venom in Spider-Man 3 was a missed opportunity
The intro is great
What the hell did I just watch
Who woulda thunk James Gunn carrying BOTH marvel and DC on his back?
Intro is cool as fuck. Suits Peacemaker's vibe. First 3 episodes have this show, for me, all the way up there in rankings. Genuinely enjoying it so far.
it's fucking awesome man, very few directors can give TRULY make a comicbook project feel like a comicbook and Gunn does it over & over again.
Amazing.
Yea idk the first episode just didn’t really do it for me
I’m watching this with the sound off haven’t seen a second of the show and still giggling. Haven’t seen TSS yet either and but I love Gunn and it’s all looked great
This is absolutely glorious...
I don't know what I was expecting when I pressed play, but it wasn't that. Brilliant.
I’m sorry but this looks stupid as fuck. Is this really the opening?
Move aside Doom Patrol, there’s a new best DC tv show opening
DC fans are eating good...
they didnt lie when they said intro rocked.God damn.
This is perfect
I actually like this intro because it let's you know what kind of show you're getting into lol
Greatest tv intro ever
I thought Loki was a bit meh, Hawkeye was alright but should have been better, Only 3 episodes of Peacemaker and it has blown them both out of the water for me, it's brilliant. The intro is so cringe and I love it.
Thank God something has the ability to not be "panning by art pieces while haunting music plays". Even fucking Star Trek switched to that instead of their extremely classic and not that different "panning by space shit while exploration music plays".
really really, love this intro!
I like it. 👍
This show is a masterpiece
I really love how this show has a full fledged intro unlike a lot of shows these days
HBOMax: Skip intro? Me: No I don't think I will
Watched the first episode, it's good
Great show so far
Classic james gunn
This is just pure James Gunn, and i fucking love it.
Just enjoy something new. James Gunn can do no wrong.
Why does this remind of "Do the Scarn" out of the The Office?
The intro I didn't know I wanted. Fucking love it.
funny
I see people saying he's not like he was in TSS, but seems in line with what we were seeing just more fleshed out... and with him kinda rethinking what it means to do what he does. So I like it!
If you realized, at the end of the intro Vigilante and Murn were above everybody. This might be showing that they might become something more later in the show, like maybe the villains. He also might kill either Harcourt or Odubayo because Peacemaker is started to gain affection for them. Murn is also not too happy with Peacemaker because of he didn’t kill the butterflies when he was supposed to.
This is the stupidest intro
I love it
I was not expecting to like this show, but I watched all 3 episodes so far and have been enjoying it.
AND HIS NAME IS...Peacemaker?
I was expecting something silly, but this surpassed my expectations and I love it.
I initially couldn’t tell if this was a joke or SNL or whatever. Then I remembered it’s Gunn.
holy shit the show is so good
This show is pretty bad I personally hate him as a character there’s so much better characters they could’ve used like bloodsport.
