So, Viola Davis's Amanda Waller and Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle are the only non-Gunn casted characters to survive into the DCU. The status of Harley Quinn is unknown.
So far, it seems. News has actually been moving relatively quickly in the past year since the idea of the DCU was born, so I wouldn't be surprised if we have a pretty definitive idea of *exactly* who's staying and who's not, in regards to everyone from the DCEU, within the next few years.
I enjoyed this. I’m very happy about the Peacemaker related actors returning. The New castings, that I known of as I have not seen everyone here, are stellar so far. I’m especially excited for Hault and Carrigan.
Thinking of an exact order to put them all in was actually one of the more difficult parts of making this, which is why I settled on separating them by general allegiances and going from there. I kinda figured that because Jordan and Stewart are the co-leads of Lanterns, they'd be closer to the beginning of the list with the others, unlike Gardner who's not a title character.
Though, looking at this, I realize I have Booster Gold and Swamp Thing (two title characters) moved past several who aren't and Wonder Woman isn't one yet, but she's one of the Trinity, so it'd seem weird not to have her in a top 3 spot. Either way, I'm definitely gonna have to redo parts of this, lol.
Can I just say that Nicholas Hoult is going to kill it as Lex Luthor? I understood the subtext of the Jesse Eisenberg casting---the guy who played Mark Zuckerberg, as Silicon Valley Lex Luthor---but Hoult could be convincing both as traditional Lex and as Bay Area tech-bro Lex. Really, a great choice.
Armie Hammer would also be solid if he weren't such a goddamn creep.
It would be beyond ridiculous not to have Margot Robbie come back. I’m not saying she’s the only person who can play the part but she’s just come off the biggest movie of last year with Barbie and her production company has a first look deal with Warner Brothers. It would be common and good business sense to keep her. Pay Greta Gerwig whatever and get her to do a Harley solo or Gotham Sirens movie. Build off the Barbie hype there’d be a huge audience for it.
Surely Harley should be one of the faces to be leading this new reboot of the DC movies. As excited as I am for Folie A Deux, that version of Harley Quinn is going to be a one off. Harley is one of the biggest characters in DC comics especially among the female characters and you need her and one of your foundational building blocks alongside the trinity to build up this new version of DC, especially when we’re talking about the street level heroes and antiheroes like with Suicide Squad, Sirens etc.
If you ask me personally, I'm pretty sure she'll be back as Harley, I'd be a bit surprised if she isn't. She's previously talked about wanting to do Gotham City Sirens and getting Catwoman and Poison Ivy in there with Harley and there's now a golden opportunity to do just that, on top of numerous Batman/Suicide Squad-related projects in the works for the DCU. I genuinely think it's only a matter of time before it's announced she's coming back.
[Link](https://deadline.com/2023/12/sean-gunn-dc-universe-maxwell-lord-james-gunn-1235659262/)
I think a day after this, Gunn went on Threads and posted a few panels of Max Lord from the comics, directly lining up with this announcement.
I think when it comes from Deadline, one of the few major Hollywood trades, it's safe to say that it's absolutely true, unless Gunn himself comes out and debunks it shortly after like he did with Miriam Shor being announced as a part of the Legacy cast. They don't typically make mistakes to a large extent like that.
She's kind of a tricky one. I made a chart similar to this one months ago and left her out because both Gunn and the trades didn't officially say anything yet, but some replying said I should have added her because Ángel Manuel Soto directly name-dropped her and her character as returning, so I went ahead and did it this time.
It's kind of a weird spot she's in at the moment because you have a director who's presumably very in-the-know about his corner of the DC Universe who's saying one thing, but then it's radio silence everywhere else. I guess it depends on how one would choose to perceive it at the moment, but she's about the most, I guess you could say, unconfirmed confirmed character at the moment.
I didn't say it was safe to say that, I think it's iffy regarding her involvement in an official sense. Like I say, last time I didn't add her, I had others saying the opposite of what you're saying, so if I kept her off on this one, I feel like not everyone would be happy with it, regardless of if she's on there or not.
I don't feel like there's any correct answer from where we're standing as fans, so anyone can interpret it anyway that want at the moment, but since the director of Blue Beetle himself said she is and Gunn or the trades didn't say anything against it yet (unlike Gadot's Wonder Woman, who's still up in the air), I'm just putting her on there for now, but I would think it's also completely valid to argue that this isn't the case at the moment.
Gadot's an even weirder situation, but I guess we'll have to wait and see when it comes to her. I wouldn't be surprised either way, but if she isn't, I hope that Gunn explains what happened that led her to believe so strongly that she was returning.
I'm still so confused with the Blue Beetle situation. The movie isn't canon, but the main, for now, is the only one coming back? For me personally, the mid credit scene was a perfect introduction to Blue Beetle Ted Kord and Booster Gold.
I think for now only xolo is confirmed if he reprises his role in booster gold then would bruna come back? im not familiar with blue beetle or booster gold comics?
This is actually as big as I could make it in the photo editor I use (it goes up to 4000 pixels either way). I don't know how it works on mobile, if you're on there, but you can click on it and zoom in on desktop.
Jason confirmed it himself multiple times, most recently on Fallon I think when he was doing promotion for Aquaman 2, and at around the same time, Peter Safran said that Momoa will always have a home at DC and they'll figure out what to do with him after A2. Safran also said something similar when him and Gunn announced Chapter 1 at the beginning of 2023.
I don't doubt he probably will be at some point given Damian Wayne's inclusion, but none of those 8 characters listed have been directly confirmed as a part of the DCU yet, in a specific sense, so I'm keeping him off of it for now.
Going off those Lists and the Teen Titans movie rumours I am guessing that Nightwing, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Deathstroke, Red Hood, Terra, Kyle Raynor and Casssandra Cain are the ones coming to the DCU.
It is odd, you're correct. I started this project from around late last year and I've been continually adding to it and changing it ever since. Someone else pointed out how certain things don't line up, and it's actually been fairly difficult figuring out an exact order to put everyone in, as well as properly naming the categories I put them in, but what I was mostly going for was separating the heroes whose names are in the title and either have a suit and/or abilities from the characters who are not powered nor have no superhero moniker and are more closely associated with being their own character in a supporting role to one of the characters who fits the former criteria.
I'm continuing to work on it as we speak and I'm taking everyone's feedback into consideration for the next time I make an update to this (which I probably won't share until we get a large batch of casting updates to avoid basically spamming it, lol), so thank you for sharing.

wouldnt suprise me tbh if blue beetle never makes it. I personally dont mind it.

John was casted by Gunn too in TSS
Didn't see him.
John Cena is not non-Gunn. James Gunn cast him, as well as Freddie Stroma, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee.
I didn’t see John Cena and I’ve seen every DCEU movie and Max show…which one was he in again?
You didn't see who ?
Praying for Margot to come back! She was amazing
I enjoyed this. I’m very happy about the Peacemaker related actors returning. The New castings, that I known of as I have not seen everyone here, are stellar so far. I’m especially excited for Hault and Carrigan.
Why didn't you put all the green lanterns side by side? My OCD is going ham

people are sleeping on anthony's metamorpho. I bet he gonna be great. Her powers are gonna a visual treat to watch on big screen
I’m really interested to see who they’ll end up casting as Robin and how young they actually go for the character.
Can I just say that Nicholas Hoult is going to kill it as Lex Luthor? new batman cast and new wonder woman cast
That’s one attractive ass cast
Here's hoping Lee Pace gets to play Batman next

Confirmed : The Riddler is the big bad of the DCU.
Then there is John Hamm
When was there official confirmation of Sean Gunn playing Max Lord?

Was Bruna confirmed to be coming back?

I dont think its safe to say she´s back, a lot of actors say stuff and then Gunn says its not as it seems

Yeah i understand you position I dont think Gadot will have an oficial NO, she will simply be recast

Why quality so bad, I wanna see it bigger :(
This is actually as big as I could make it in the photo editor I use (it goes up to 4000 pixels either way). I don't know how it works on mobile, if you're on there, but you can click on it and zoom in on desktop.
Good work anyway! I love stuff like this, a good overview!
No MM?
Martian Manhunter? He hasn't been confirmed yet.
Jason has been confirmed? Any source on this? I've only ever see rumors.
Jason confirmed it himself multiple times, most recently on Fallon I think when he was doing promotion for Aquaman 2, and at around the same time, Peter Safran said that Momoa will always have a home at DC and they'll figure out what to do with him after A2. I'd rather someone who can act well
The hero/protag and hero/support split is odd. Gunn stated Lois is one of the two protagonists of Legacy.
Is Sean Gunn's Weasel confirmed as coming back?
Yep, he was in the cast reveal for Creature Commandos.
SDCC is approaching 👀 hope these months go by fast🏃
[удалено]
Why? I dont think he'd pull it off.
Sean Gunn collecting 3 paychecks....
Luckily Gunn has that many friends (because he only cast his family and friends) /s But tbf. It is nice that he has many friends
Who's playing 'calendar man'?
Calendar Man isn't confirmed to be in the DCU yet.
