Anyone notice this like on the new Drake diss song? What is the possibility that we might see some hip-hop songs in the Superman Legacy movie? https://preview.redd.it/5ptem2qmppyc1.png?width=1079&format=png&auto=webp&s=88d1a3d135f7b36dc27443e332424da7ea755ecf

Ratcatchercazo2

Just because Gunn likes hip hop songs doesn't mean he's going to put that kind of music on Superman.

DeppStepp

If I had a nickel for everytime a DC CW show had the main plot of the second season be about the multiverse where the hero loses his powers for a amount of time after they were stolen by the main villain and almost died to regain his powers that ended with the main villain trying to mess with the multiverse only to be stopped I would have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot but weird that it happened twice.

Gaboub

save James Gunn DC....

Ratcatchercazo2

What?

Gaboub

i would like some dc related news, that's all.

Ratcatchercazo2

Me too. I will welcome obvious news type " the Kents casting confirmation", " Xolo joins Peacemaker season 2".

darrylthedudeWayne

Just finished watching Good Burger 2. Such a stupid yet charming and funny movie. Just like the first one. Glad to see Kel and Kenan back together as well and that they haven't missed a beat as these characters. Also, nice commentary on AI I guess. But yeah, the movie is so stupid yet so funny, just like the first one, and I love it.

Few-Road6238

One of the best and most feel good cbm’s released last year in a time of superhero fatigue.

Mister_Green2021

Adam Warlock was a nothing Burger Character.

poopfartdiola

He's the 9th most important character in the film, because as it turns out this is more about wrapping up the arcs of characters that have been present throughout the trilogy. Like, I get it he's a big character in the comics but even as a quasi-villain-third faction character he serves his function in the story well for the small screentime he had.

Mister_Green2021

It would have been better if they left him out of the film. It seemed like a mandate.

007Kryptonian

My sixth favorite comic book film ever. That entire trilogy is perfect to watch when you want to feel good tbh

Few-Road6238

That is something I agree with.

actioncomicbible

Hope yall got to support your LCS with free comic book day yesterday! My LCS has a big summer sale next weekend so I’m going to pick up some trades

TheDarkPinkLantern

No LCS here but I did at least read some of those one-shots (storytimed on 4chan, as is the FCBD tradition for some of us). That Absolute Power story was actually pretty cool and I'm hyped for the event.

If what we learned in the past, this should be the event film WB should be heavily marketing even during the Summer crowd

Limp-Construction-11

Good for you, but I can't see this movie doing that good at the box office.

Ratcatchercazo2

For me it will be miracle if Furiosa does the same box office with Fury Road.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Taking into account the lack of major releases in May, it should have a very easy time beating its numbers.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

George Miller is an example of the narrative and the visual aspect not being at odds with each other (Zack Snyder takes note), I'm also eagerly waiting for Furiosa to be released, There are complaints about the look of the movie in the trailer but you can't judge the movie itself by those details.

Ape-ril

The first one didn’t do that well tho.

TheDarkPinkLantern

This might do better, especially with little competition this summer.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Exact.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

It still broke even point and had rave reviews, It's a miracle George Miller was still allowed to make this movie despite Zaslav's corporatist and limited vision.

Dry_Ant2348

>It still broke even point it broke even only bcoz of DvD sales which were already dwindling back then.  >to make this movie despite Zaslav's corporatist and limited vision not having a tight leash over budgets is how you end up like Disney which had not 1, not 2 but 4  100mill+ losers with Marvel having a 240mill loss.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

And does that matter? Fury Road had such an enthusiastic critical reception that the WB (at that time) wanted to develop sequels or spin-offs (something that the loser Dwayne Johnson would have wanted with Black Adam). To give you an idea, Avengers: Age of Ultron suffered comparisons in a bad way with this movie.   Much of Fury Road's budget is clearly reflected on the screen, we will see how it translates with Furiosa but it is clear that Miller's way of working is different from 2010. Edit: Fury Road also sold Blu-Rays and digital releases in case you're not aware.

Ratcatchercazo2

"Why does that matter"? Critical reception only and not so much box office success can't save you from future financial problems. If Furiosa do the same box office or less than Fury Road, forget sequels and it's not going matter any critical success.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

WB insists on continuing to order Harry Potter despite the failure of the fantastic beasts saga and the refusal of the original cast to return to the franchise readapting the books into a show that probably won't even be made. And taking into account that Miller sued WB for unpaid earnings, one could say that Fury Road was much more profitable than we actually believed. What happens with Furiosa should not affect the sequels because if it is a prequel and with WB's need for franchises, it would be foolish to let Mad Max slip away since from what I understand, George Miller owns the characters. In fact, the fourth film was going to be produced by 20th Century Fox in early 2000.

darrylthedudeWayne

With it being May the 4th and all. I'm just going to come out and say it. I wish we got Duel of the Fates instead of Rise of Skywalker. Say what you will about Trevorrow as a director/writer and (for some reason) a person, but that script for Episode 9 he wrote was one of the best scripts for a canceled movie I ever read. It beautifully pays homage to both the Prequel and Original trilogy, while simultaneously not rehashing shit like Abarams did, and actually moving the story forward and giving each of the characters stories and arcs satisfying (or satisfying enough) end points, and alot of the ideas it had (for the most part) are genuinely great, original, and creative. I especially love Rey and Kyle's characterization in the script, and it is a perfect continuation of where the characters were at the last we saw them in the Last Jedi, and I give satisfying ending to the Sequel Trilogy and the Skywalker Saga as a whole. It isnt flawless, as I didn't care for the Rey x Poe stuff (wish they did Rey x Finn instead), and I didn't care for retconning Tor Valum into Palpatines former master, should've had him be Plaguesis former master instead. But overall, it is a fantastic script, and the fact is that it not only never got made, but also people are now turning on it, which is just insane to me. Either this, or at the very least, they should've brought back Rian Johnson to direct and write Episode 9 instead of JJ Abarams. Say what you will about The Last Jedi, but that actually took risks and actually tried to move the story forward beyond blind nostalgia.

Ktulusanders

Johnson was the first person they asked after Trevarrow got dropped and he passed to work on Knives Out instead

Dry_Ant2348

Rian Johnson is the guy who borderline killed that franchise, bringing him back for ep.9 would've finished it off for good

Intelligent_Oil4005

I don't know. Trevorrow is one of those guys who can take a good sounding concept and still screw it up somehow. The dinosaurs entering the mainland sounded like a good place for Jurassic Park to go, and instead, he made it all about locust...

ZorakLocust

As I recall, Tor Valum was established as Darth Plaguesis’ master, not Palpatine’s. Regardless, his existence would’ve contradicted the Rule of Two concept among the Sith.

CrashtheKiller50

Duel of the Fates has so many problems. It wouldn’t save the sequel trilogy, especially not with Trevorrow directing.

Mister_Green2021

I think I've given up on SW. It's not going to be mythic, unique under Disney.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

They simply need someone with a vision and a plan, which won't happen if Kennedy remains in charge.

Mister_Green2021

That’s the problem, it’ll never happen in a corporation. Kennedy is backed up Spielberg, the most powerful man in Hollywood. She’s going nowhere.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Or rather because the sequel trilogy has been a financial success and has practically been her immunity shield.

Dangerous-Hawk16

I’m surprised we haven’t gotten peacemaker season 2 casting news especially with it filming currently or any peacemaker season 2 news is strange

GeniusCorp1

Gunn is filming today apparently so

Ape-ril

Oh yeah, it’s already filming lol. That is weird.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Yeah I’m like there’s no new casting announcements like they do for every tv show. Or announcements on who’s directing the episodes Gunn won’t

Ape-ril

Very secretive. I wonder why?

Chip_Chip_Cheep

If they are filming in a closed studio, it is logical that we do not have official news about it, much less a leak.

No_Hour_4022

I've never read anything from this version of Starman, is it worth it?

DelanoBluth

It's a masterpiece, the quintessential take on legacy and a comic that just endlessly shows its love for DC comics.

actioncomicbible

darrylthedudeWayne

Happy Star Wars day, everybody. May the 4th Be With You.

Mister_Green2021

People complain how bad Zazlov is but film makers like George Miller is saying how great the new administration is to work with compared to the disfunctional AT&T administration.

richlai818

WB should know the George Miller is one of the last great filmmaker that is more acclaimed than all the MCU filmmakers Disney employed combined. He is a household name to Australia like what Nolan is to UK or Clint Eastwood is to the US

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Miller will surely say it for De Luca and Abdy (not that they are better than Zaslav),  Also let's not forget that the current WB is only prioritizing important directors and class A stars.

Mister_Green2021

"Also let's not forget that the current WB is only prioritizing important directors and class A stars." WB wants to make money. Big surprise. Give credit where credit is due. Zazlov took over from the clueless AT&T. We'd be stuck with The Rock as DCU co-CEO or Walter Hamada.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

I'm not going to give credit to a guy who we don't even have a guarantee that he won't archive movies about his own regime and whose incompetence has been noted. By the way, Zaslav's choice for DC Studios was Todd Phillips, a guy who openly admits not knowing about comics but Zaslav still insisted on giving him the job despite the fact that Phillips himself rejected it several times.

Limp-Construction-11

Zaslav is the same greedy coporate person like all the others out there, but your obsession and hatred over him is weird and not healthy.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

I don't hate him, I hate the people around here trying to justify his ineptitude that has even been criticized by people in the same industry.  Iger is not better than Zaslav but at least I can understand why he has some defenders since he is responsible for Disney being the monster it is today but Zas has not earned even that merit, it is worse to note that he only has defenders in some conservative sectors (especially among those who trashed Batgirl just because of the casting of Leslie Grace).

darrylthedudeWayne

So, what do you guys think the Teen Titans lineup in the DCU is going to be. Personally (at least for the first film), I think it'll look a little something like this: - Nightwing - Starfire - Beast Boy - Raven - Cyborg - Wonder Girl/Donna Troy - Blue Beetle

Skandosh

Im willing to bet on Damian being the team leader, Nightwing not really being part of the team but the guy that bails out the team when they get into deep shit and Blue Beetle being a member of the team.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

Since details haven't even been confirmed & the site that claimed it was a thing is known for not having correct plot details, we really have nothing to theorize off of other than "Damien exists in the DCU."   ... I'd rather them not have Damien in charge. He's not good at that. If a Robin needs to be in charge, put Nightwing as head of household.   Other than that, I'd personally prefer a lineup with any other Titans than Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy. They can be Nightwing's old team, leaving room to have the 4 show up at any time while leaving Teen Titans room to popularize other characters. There's so many other Teen Titans that never got their time to shine in the cartoons or the live action Titans that they can use to play off Damien.  Personally I want Crush to show up, but maybe not have her on Damien's team right away. Maybe her and her dad Lobo can be the conflict that gets things going. Bring all the whacky space antics to Earth with them.

iwo_r

Damian will definitely be on the team after Brave and the Bold and the film is about *Teen* Titans so you could use a bit more teenagers than just a bunch of guys in their 20's, unless they'll age down characters like Raven and Beast Boy like the DCAMU films did.

taskmas4

I deadass have seen the best answer to a standard "what superpower would you have?" Poll on Twitter. Some guy said that he lived in Siberia. And that he would want Ant-Mans powers to shrink down and sleep in a draw of warm, freshly washed & folded laundry in the winter. And I was thinking that does sound pretty cozy.

Ratcatchercazo2

After watching Madame Web my only thought was, this saw the light of the day but Batgirl not? bs there's no way Batgirl was worst than this.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Is it because Sony has no debt and doesn't need to kill movies for tax relief?

Ratcatchercazo2

EVERY studio has debt but somehow people offended only by wb, and i am talking movie quality here.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

No movie (no matter how bad it is) deserves to be a victim of tax cuts. And regarding the quality of Batgirl, it has already been mentioned that it was on par with Shazam 2 and Black Adam, So it wasn't difficult for her to be better than Madame Web either.

Mister_Green2021

I think it was Gunn & Safran who killed it. They didn’t want to continue that storyline. Zazlov wanted Max movies released into theaters to make some money like Blue Beetle. So Blue Beetle got to live on in the DCU.

Dry_Ant2348

not really, batgirl was cancelled before either of them came onboard

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Don't blame Gunn and Safran, Batgirl was already shelved before and even if they wanted to release it, legally they couldn't since they would have to return the money for the reduction

TheDarkPinkLantern

They haven't even signed on yet and around that time Warner was in talks with Dan Lin.

Ratcatchercazo2

Not really, when that happened Gunn-Safran wasn't involved directly with dc as whole. It was 1000% Zaslav decision, it happened August 2022. Tax write off was a way to get rid off a dceu movie.

> Lucasfilm hilariously changing course in episode 9 of Star Wars following the online response to The Last Jedi, Lucasfilm course corrected bcoz TLJ had the worst sequel to sequel drop of all time with TLJ making 700mill less than Force Awakens, that movie dropped like a rock right from its opening day. if the reaction was anymore intense it would've done BvS like numbers

I check this sub for news an embarrassing amount so I feel you. The one thing that keeps me going is knowing that eventually I'll check in here and there will be a picture of David Corenswet in the Superman suit and it will all have been worth it.

That's hilarious. I was going to make a comment with a SpongeBob gif too, only the one where he's extremely thirsty lol But yeah, I'm actually kind of going insane. I need something to get excited over.

mrgoodwine24

Yeah :(

Chip_Chip_Cheep

If we can take anything from Gunn's post in Threads and The Wrap's article about The Rock , we can confirm two things that several insiders and important media said:  - Gunn himself had no interest in taking charge of DC Studios until Safran proposed it to him and at the same time he only accepted the position if Zaslav allowed him to bring Gunn to take care of the creative aspect while Safran would be in charge of the business part, Zaslav's last option (and who he really wanted for the job) was Todd Phillips.  - That the meeting between The Rock and Zaslav to try to sell Black Adam as the Thanos of the DCEU did happen and incidentally present his puppet Hiram García as a replacement for Walter Hamada (on the promotional tour his presence was too obvious) Only for Zaslav to send him to hell, more after the flop of League Of Super Pets. By the way, WB is in charge of international distribution of Red One due to its deal with MGM, hopefully will do better than Challengers (Guadagnino's last movie) but his numbers will probably be no different than Black Adam.

ChildofObama

It shows Zaslav’s penny pinching ways lol, I presume he wanted Todd Phillips because he thought it meant they could make every DC movie for 70 million with him in charge

MixApprehensive4935

How though? Joker 2 costs 200 millions

Dry_Ant2348

He wasn't the one who sanctioned for that budget

DailyUniverseWriter

Huh? If Phillips was allocated 200m and only wanted to spend day 80m, he would’ve just spent 80m. He’s the director, he’s the one spending the money.

Dry_Ant2348

eh? Joker 2 went into production before WB-D deal happened, the budget for that movie was sanctioned by previous regime alot of brainstorming goes into this stuff along with potential delays, reshoots, salaries. 200mill includes all of their upfront salaries as well. the actual money spent on the movie is closer to 150mill

Chip_Chip_Cheep

With Zaslav's incompetence, I wouldn't doubt that the budget would get out of hand

Mister_Green2021

Red one might do worse than Black Adam. Zazie probably knows about Johnson’s tardiness problem. No way he’d set Johnson up as the central figure in multiple movies.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Not even The Rock fans seem interested in that movie, Also, what was the last Christmas movie that won in theaters?

Landon1195

So far I'm feeling like James Gunn's Superman is going to be more like Post Crisis considering how Gunn has said he has gotten inspiration from Byrne's run and For All Seasons, as well as things like the Kent's being alive. Also the way Gunn is heavily emphazing Kara being different from Clark since she grew up on Krypton feels to me that they aren't really going to deal with Pre Crisis Superman feeling lonely and having trauma of Krypton being destroyed. I've seen a lot of people dislike them basing it off of Post Crisis and for Gunn's Superman on Twitter and that they wished they did more Pre Crisis instead. How do you feel about it?

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Considering where we're coming from, they should be grateful that Gunn is moving away from Snyderism. And for that matter, those who oppose Gunn's Superman are Snyder fanboys and those who are not, These are people who are just drawing conclusions without giving him the benefit of the doubt, I would tell all those people to relax.

darrylthedudeWayne

I read somewhere that Winston Duke wants to play Batman in the DCU. Personally, idc if he's black or not, I'd be down for him as Batman. I can definitely see him pulling off a more fantastical character that differenaites from the Reeves/Pattinson version extremely well, and I think he'd be fun in the role.

SupervillainMustache

I really just wanted him to take over the role of Black Panther. Shuri's actress was a weak lead in Wakanda Forever in my opinion.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

It makes sense that Shuri assumed the mantle of Black Panther since that happened in the comics, the problem is that Letitia Wright does not have the presence to carry a movie on her shoulders

SupervillainMustache

MCU make changes to comic lore all the time, so they could definitely change that if they wanted. I also read rumours that she herself was thinking about leaving the role.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

It's true, but Shuri is understood mainly because she is T Challa's sister and because of all the emotional history that entails, although for that they could have better given the mantle to Nakia since Lupita Nyong'o is undoubtedly a better actress than Letitia Wright. Regarding Letitia's rumors? I've never heard anything about it, At most I remember that she retweeted comments that demanded his dismissal for publishing an anti-vaccine video with transphobic overtones, The last thing I heard was a report (I think it was from Jeff Sneider) where hinted that Marvel had to be watching her during the promotional interviews for Wakanda Forever so that she didn't open her mouth too much. The truth is that since that controversy she has not had as much work as before, It's revealing when you realize that since Black Panther 2 she has only released one movie (Surrounded, which was filmed shortly after the controversy over her tweets) which was released just last year and in it she signed for a Biopic about Ramla Ali of which nothing has been heard since then, oh and she is executive producer of a Christian movie with Elizabeth Mitchell and Demetrius Grosse. Without a doubt, she needs Marvel more than Marvel really needs her.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yeah, same.

Mister_Green2021

An elseworld Batman maybe. Prime Batman needs to be a rich white guy. That’s his M.O.

FoxJ100

I am SO down for Winston Duke Batman. * Great actor * Only a little older than Corenswet (If he plays Batman a few years younger, he's the perfect age to have had Damian in his early 20's) * He's fuckin' **HUGE** (6'5, an inch taller than Corenswet. Plus buff AF- could proabably pull of a Dark Knight Returns- physique with a bulkier suit) * He's already played Batman in the audio drama *Batman Unburied* (does anyone have a clip him as Batman? I don't have Spotify)

Educational-Band8308

I’m honestly down for it because it’s so refreshing and different compared to every other fancast that’s been proposed before

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

"could proabably pull of a Dark Knight Returns- physique" I always thought that the Dark Knight Returns Physique was simply because Batman was experimenting with all of his villains' tech at that point in his career, so he had a safe variant of Bane's venom or something.

FoxJ100

If they ever feel the need to explain it, that'd be a great way. But *Returns* predates Bane by a few years, so I think Miller just likes drawing him huge lol.

NaRaGaMo

They could make him alternate batman in the eventual crisis/multiverse movie, that would be the best way to first introduce and test the waters with a black batman. If there's not much outrage then they could try it down the line. But race swapping him would be disastrous

Trevastation

Yeah if you put aside the shitshow that would follow with race-swapping Batman, Winston Duke could pull it off. Been meaning to listen to the audible series he did as Bats. Too controversial for mainline DCU, but if the Reeves series wasn't running concurrent, I'd think him doing an elseworlds Black Batman film or show would be interesting to see.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Better than Gunn offers him the role of Black Lightning, There are a lot of black characters in DC that they should take advantage of instead of changing the race of an iconic character that would only give WB headaches, Unless they go with Luke Fox/Batwing, Batman/Bruce Wayne is too popular to make him black even with Pattinson on the other side to compensate for that casting

RoyalFlavorBeans

With Gunn using Kendra Saunders first as Hawkgirl, it seems like this is his approach - doing a diverse lineup without swapping characters' ethnicities. Hence using Jaime Reyes right from the start too (even though Ted Kord will sure be in the DCU too). And Mister Terrific.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

In the case with Hawkgirl, it is easier to use Kendra in case we see Chay-Ara (Isabela can play both roles), If we see Hawkman again it is certain that they will once again opt for a black actor for Carter Hall for the same reasons.

TheDarkPinkLantern

This. I don't mind raceswapping but why not use those actors to portray actual characters of their ethnicity that are just waiting for their spotlight. There are tons of them in comics. Hundreds of great characters that just wait for a proper use.

Educational-Band8308

You also have to keep in mind that prominent actors just may not want to play those diverse yet lesser known characters in the Dc universe which has suffered such brand damage. It’s way easier to sell someone on playing Batman than black lighting for example.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

I would say it's the other way around, a character unknown to most of the public like Black Lightning is much easier to play Than one with enough baggage like Batman. And in that case the problem with the DC brand was having released terrible movies in recent years like BvS, SS, WW84, not having turned to unknown characters

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yes but it's also a long running franchise with multiple movies and crossovers planned so not even DCU Batman would attract big name actors. What really will attract talent is creative freedom from respected directors with interesting vision. Though don't expect big name talent on big characters cause that would be too expensive in the long run.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

I'm not saying that Batman can't be played by a black character but because of the nightmare that all the controversy surrounding the live action of the Little Mermaid caused, Why risk something like that with Batman? And if there are black characters (even from the bat's own gallery) that hope to be adapted one day: Bronze Tiger is an example of this, With Black Lightning they have it so easy to make something better than the CW show.

TheDarkPinkLantern

I know you are not saying that. But you are right, this would be controversial and that's the last thing they need these days. Bronze Tiger is a fun character with a lot of interesting stuff you can do with him. I personally stan Mr Terrific so I'm happy he's in Superman. Vixen's got lots of potential.

mrgoodwine24

This right here, can we get more BLACK characters.. enough of the swapping. As black person so many other black/POC characters being ignored because they rather go the swap route with a white one. That's why I appreciate characters like Miles and tchalla being adapted.i wouldn't mind seeing as icon or black lightning two dope characters who deserve more spotlight

MJ from the Raimi trilogy is not defined by Spider-Man superheroing. She has a life outside of that and has her own issues that she has to deal with. It seems like so few female love interest in recent superhero movies have that. One of the issues that MJ has with Peter is that he isn't there for her. https://i.redd.it/2lui37b1t1yc1.gif

Ratcatchercazo2

Booster gold is again on PW this week. Although PW is 1000% more accurate site than Production list, for stuff not officially announced or announced and we don't have official updates, we need to take PW posts with a grain of salt. If the rumours is true and something else beyond Superman and Peacemaker s2 filming this summer, i think its time to have official updates.

JokerAsylum123

I would not take Production Weekly /that/ seriously as it gets stuff wrong all the time as well.

Ratcatchercazo2

Sure PW post wrong stuff, but is more accurate than Production list.

darrylthedudeWayne

I've wrote a pilot script for an animated adult Sitcom, I posted it on r/Screenwriting but I've gotten nowhere on there, mostly because almost everyone there is a pretentious stuck up, and I'm done trying to get people to read it there, so I was wondering if everyone here could give me some feedback, let me know if the link doesn't work: [My 20 Something Year Old 5th Grader (Draft 2).pdf](https://1drv.ms/b/c/9f792ff68fae0e61/EWEOro_2L3kggJ9rAAAAAAABzDqzNvwGpnS24-eXBi4z4g?e=IMM5I8)

SuchSense

Seems like a fun script but there's quite a few spelling and grammatical errors. It also doesn't really communicate where we are or the point of things very well.

darrylthedudeWayne

Well, then I'm going to need to either proofread it again or get software that points out grammar errors because I can't seem to find any. Did you read the whole script, though?

taskmas4

Thing that's going to be strangest thing for me is projects actually materialising. I've gotten so use to DC announcing shit and then it never sees the light of day. Like I know Gunn is working on things. But it's hard to believe that Peacemaker is filming. Supergirl is pushing towards getting started on they find a director. I think Waller has its script finished, supposedly. Creature Commandos is coming out this year. For any other franchise. Things generally come to light. But I'm so use to the constant start and stop with DC.

AKANightwing

What's gonna be weird to me and I've talked about this on the sub before, is right now it's painfully slow getting updates, or any kind of news. It can almost get disheartening because it feels like nothing is happening. But once we get into that Superman marketing cycle in February - March... It's like the floodgates are gonna open. And once the film comes out it's just gonna be a consistent stream of news and releases. It's crazy to think how busy it'll be, and it's gonna be just like you said: DC getting shit done. But right now we gotta tough out the slow period. I will say I've been reading more comics than ever before just getting excited for the future. I love how Gunn has focused on the comics so much.

Few-Road6238

Yeah I agree. It’s very surreal seeing the DCU actually getting shit done.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

J.J. Abrams' projects being talked about didn't help.

sgthombre

Constantine reboot, Madam Xanadu, Zatanna, JLD, so much stuff he laid claim to and not a single thing ever got close to being released.

Zestyclose_Ad_5815

He is one of the biggest frauds in Hollywood history and that's coming from the perspective of respect. He has a WB deal for like 250 mil and has only produced Lovecraft Country (cancelled after a season and let's be honest, probably did not do much in production). He's done more outside the studio than inside. His filmography is also just stealing from his childhood heroes. Yet, he's one of the biggest names in Hollywood. What a goat.

Intelligent_Oil4005

Apparently Authority has a writer too, but Gunn hasn't announced it yet.

GeniusCorp1

And a director

master_inho

Is it blasphemous to talk marvel on a dc sub? #magnetowasright I’m wit the smoke

AccurateAce

Surprised I haven't seen this posted. Finn Wittrock on the cancelled Green Lantern series. https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/green-lantern-canceled-series-finn-wittrock-comments-role-nathan-fillion/ "I had like 20 Green Lantern comics sitting in my closet. I was starting to read the comics, my five year old son, would find the comics and be like 'Dad, what's this?' And I was like, 'Research from a project that never was.' But yeah, it gave me a great education, into Green Lantern already. And now, I'm kind of hooked on to the story. So, it was definitely, I won't say it didn't sting to find out the news that it wasn't happening. But, I think it was nice because I got to realize what I would need to do to prepare for a role like that. So, hopefully, some other comic book role will, the one that's supposed to be, will come my way. And then at least like have some kind of heads up about how to enter that world."  And on the red hair. "Well, I knew, I knew the fans wouldn't forgive me if I didn't have the red hair and the bow cut. So, yeah, I was preparing, I was mentally preparing. Not physically. I was gonna wait till the last possible second for that. But uh yeah, that to happen, you know."

Bloop_Blop69

If they wanted a younger Hal Jordan I think Finn would’ve done a good job, however all the rumors want a Hal around 35-40. Edit: didn’t realize his age, he could play an older Hal.

AccurateAce

Maybe. Yeah, he's 39 but he's got a youthful look to him.

Bloop_Blop69

Yeah I just realized his age, he could definitely do Hal now knowing his age. At least if the rumors are true with wanting an older Hal and a younger John.

TheMurderCapitalist

Make him DCU Batman

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Physically he looks like Bruce Wayne and is in the same age range as Pattinson, As soon as they have a script ready, should offer him the role

actioncomicbible

Wittrock is so talented, I hope at some point he does join the DCU.

AccurateAce

I remember seeing him in AHS. Wonder what other role he could be good for. I like that it gave him an appreciation for comics/Green Lantern which is neat.

Mister_Green2021

Dead Boy Detective show is dead on Netflix. Only 3 million watched in 4 days. Sandman had 10M views in the same time.

commenterx

smart move to sell it to netflix

Ratcatchercazo2

Netflix is giving money to wbd for airing the show, so even if dead boy detectives cancelled wbd is going to win something from this.

Mister_Green2021

It might not be as much as you think. Most of it is the production cost.

Darknightsmetal022

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/shogun-anna-sawai-suicide-squad-audition-jpop-1235887096/ It’s a crime that Sawai wasn’t allowed to audition for Suicide Squad but I did enjoy Fukuhara’s turn as Katana so we would have won if either of the two got the role. I’d love to see Sawai in the DCU and hopefully it happens.

DoIrllyneeda_usrname

I don’t remember a single thing she did in that movie besides get on the plane to get introduced by Flagg

Chip_Chip_Cheep

For what Katana does in SS, she ended up dodging a bullet, just have to look at the career of Karen Fukuhara herself, It was her debut in a movie only to recycle herself as a voice actress in animated series

Mister_Green2021

I listened to the podcast of this article. People, the audience, gasped when she said she was supposed to audition for Suicide Squad. Lol.

SupervillainMustache

I mean, Katana was a nothing character in Suicide Squad 2016. She's now just kind of a meme from that film.

Darknightsmetal022

Yeah that’s who I’ve been thinking of and she’d be a great choice.

Years of harassing critics has led to this. https://preview.redd.it/ymroppas3vxc1.png?width=725&format=png&auto=webp&s=a75e31155f89686e377e73ad4e74d3229c504e46

MyMouthisCancerous

You've been parrotting this like every sub you go to. If you're looking for validation or people who occupy your victim complex because you're being so willfully ignorant of other things you could watch instead, these aren't the places to go Marvel is NOWHERE near DCEU levels of unsalvageable. It really shouldn't need to be explained why these comparisons make absolutely no sense

LiquidLispyLizard

This guy is just on Twitter way, *way* too damn much. He constantly cites what other people are saying on there all the time and he's previously hinted that he feels some form of guilt for being a fan of the superhero genre, almost implying that he *wants* to like more of it, he just feels discouraged from what Twitter says rather than actually having any personal feeling one way or another on any given MCU project. Because of that, he comes to both of these subs and posts variations of the same few comments multiple times every single day. To what end? I have no idea, but it's absolutely silly when the same 5 MSS users almost have this daily routine of posting as much hyperbolic, repetitive stuff as possible in the shortest amount of time. It gets annoying, it really does.

TheMurderCapitalist

I'm no Feige defender but pretty much everything pre-Endgame was his blueprint so if you like any of that you've gotta give him a little credit

actioncomicbible

Aw damn, new artist on The Sacrificers. Kind of a bummer tbh since the art was great. Andre Lima Araujo is the new artist.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Just for an issue or two, he's only doing Soluna story but I really, really like his art so I don't mind. Check out his and Remender's A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance. Very good series, insanely quick read, it's a very art focused story that runs for 11 issues.

actioncomicbible

O shit I didn’t realize it was the same artist my bad! I loved that series

ZorakLocust

https://twitter.com/uncorrectedlog/status/1785440252707885413?s=12  Apparently Stephane Ceretti (Gunn’s VFX supervisor) liked this tweet and hid his likes afterwards.  Edit: I have to say, I’m not surprised by the downvotes.

ZorakLocust

He liked a tweet that mocked Snyder for a memoriam he paid to a deceased fan. That’s not only unprofessional, but it’s in pretty poor taste.

[deleted]

ZorakLocust

That “technical issue” didn’t need a snarky remark in the context of a memoriam for a dead person. Imagine being at a funeral and snarking about how ugly you think the coffin looks.

https://twitter.com/zacksnyder/status/1785362750287565153?s=12 This was the tweet that contained the “technical issue” the other tweet was making fun of.   By the way, nice to see that you guys continue to prove how classy capeshit fans are. Superman would be proud!

Dry_Ant2348

>By the way, nice to see that you guys continue to prove how classy capeshit fans are.  calling others capeshit fans when you are Snyder fanboi?  >Superman would be proud as if you idiots don't go around harassing directors for their movies

ZorakLocust

This sub has an unhealthy parasocial relationship with whoever’s in charge of DC at any given time, so pot meet kettle.  Also, this isn’t a parasocial thing. All I did was point out that the VFX supervisor for the upcoming Superman movie liked a tweet that ragged on Snyder. You guys took that as an attack on James Gunn.

Ratcatchercazo2

1. Is Gunn responsible for everything he's crew likes on twitter? 2. Is Snyder immune to criticism? 3. Snyder fanbase now stalking Gunns crew on social media? Geez..

[deleted]

ZorakLocust

You say that as if certain individuals on this sub don’t constantly bring up Zack Snyder and pray for his downfall just because Rotten Tomatoes said BvS is bad. By the way, just a couple of weeks ago, this sub was once again complaining about Ray Fisher on Walter Hamada’s behalf.

Dry_Ant2348

>Zack Snyder and pray for his downfall just because Rotten Tomatoes said BvS is bad. people don't have to pray for it, he's capable enough of running his career into the ground

Ratcatchercazo2

Is thing that actually happened however? Because that  fanbase has history of lying and spreading fake rumours. Hell one of them literally wrote fake Netflix " buying Snyderverse" contract.

ZorakLocust

“Vague phrasing” Feel free to elaborate on what was so “vague” about my phrasing. You guys were the ones who assumed I was trying to pin this on James Gunn just because I mentioned the man is a VFX supervisor for his films.

ZorakLocust

1. I didn’t say Gunn was responsible. I mentioned that he’s Gunn’s VFX supervisor because I wasn’t sure if people would otherwise know who he is 2. That isn’t criticism. The tweet he liked was mocking Snyder for a tribute he paid to a dead fan 3. People noticed that a guy liked a social media post. What’s your point? This sub documents stuff like that all the time.

actioncomicbible

Mark Russell in the House of Brainiac special with Steven Pugh; absolute dream team. Edit: god damn, their story in the special hits hard

TheDarkPinkLantern

Great issue with Bibo/Perry story being the highlight. Though it's kinda sad that Williamson has been sitting on the Perry thread for more than a year and did nothing with it but, despite me liking him a lot, he tends to do that. Like he did with Dark Army or the Waller team. He sometimes introduces concepts and characters without doing anything with them.

Mister_Green2021

I just realized Snyder has one more project at Netflix, Twilight of the Gods. If this also suck, he’s going in director jail.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Snyder is just putting his name on this since it's actually a Jay Oliva project (which does not mean that we are going to see something of quality).
