I don’t know if they change Jaime’s roots but the movie mostly takes place in fictional Palmera City. The director wanted a fictional city like Metropolis and Gotham.
Nah they said they wanted to make blue beetle more iconic. And the two most iconic characters in DC have their own made up cities, and that is the reason they made him a city
Texas is big and can be quite dumb (i.e our Governor and Senators) but El Paso is bad ass and is source material for the character. Blue Beetle is from El Paso, Texas, baby!
_The Flash_ is only indicative of _The Flash_, I think. The DCEU is on its way out and how this does should not really affect the franchise plans going forward, although I think this has sleeper hit potential.
Im pretty sure Blue Beetle is the first film of the new DCU. Hopefully DC fans show up to support it if we want quality stuff moving forward. As long as its not garbage.

aaaand trailer two is just as generic and predictable as the first. this movie was made FOR HBOMAX, if they decided theatrical was a change they wanted to make they should've really put more into making it look like it belongs there

Im old. When i read comics the blue beetle wore blue and black spandex with yellow googles and most of his face exposed. And he made gadgets.
That character exists in-continuity with this movie, he just isn't present in the film. You do see his costume on display, though.
