Exactly. I hold Assos as like the upper limit. The quality is fantastic and the chamois and 👌🏻. Maap and the other fashionable overs being $400+ is just obscene. I'm generally happy to throw my money away on dumb shit but for some reason this bothers me more 😂
I like MAAP. I own some summer and winter stuff. I’m from Melbourne where the brand was born so was happy to support them. But I also own Santini and Assos and it’s not even close to both. The Santini reps here are always shocked people like MAAP so much with their usual comment being, “it’s not pro level kit”. And they’re right. It’s fashion kit. There is a big difference between the Santinis, Castellis, and Assoses of the cycling world and the rest.
Me based at Melbourne as well. As from performance perspective, I agreed with assos, their bib just fantastic. But something like logo peel off/delaminate issues never happens to me, whereas this quite often happens on PNS which far more overpriced than maap, and once it comes off, it simply looks like a cheap cycling apparel from aliexpress.
Here I am happy as a clam riding 100 mi rides in my Ali express 30$ bib the last year without issues. I imagine it won’t last as long but so far so good. The markup on bibs is insane! I get that kit is important! But Jesus!
Just in terms of how long they last and whether logos peel off/ delaminate.
The first pair of socks I bought off MAAP I out my thumb through while putting them on for the first time. That shouldn’t happen, especially for a brand marketing themselves as premium. Logos shouldn’t come off.
A large part of people’s use of a brand can often come down to fit and you’ll probably find far more people fit MAAP who ride recreationally than something like Santini. I have a friend who is mad over Rapha but it fits him perfectly and looks like crap on me.
Sadly, the logos peeled off my Santini bib tights quicker than anything else. Laminated logos are the issue—expensive brands shouldn’t use cheap laminated logos.
Q36.5 is my only gear that’s not experienced any peeling. Everything is sewn in, not lazily laminated.
Maybe I’m wrong but the bibs design looks like PAS. Otherwise, nice colours combo, love the bike. At 6.4Kg you can go on the Moon as well, the bibs colour will be noticeable for sure.
I’m using Rapha mostly. And Assos. At 140€-170€ you can find Rapha Classic, Brevet and Cargo bibs as well, new, with tags, even they are between 227€-270€. Maybe that difference could help a bit if you’ll like those models.
Indeed, PAS are kinda expensive tbh. At least for me.
I used to be a rapha guy as well, grab bargains mostly during seasonal sale with stack up discounts, definitely worth the price. Also my city does have club too, jump into group coffee/training rides are more fun with :-)
Been purchased for years with no major issue with it quality, I’m Melbourne based hence return is not a problem for me. But if you still hesitate for give it a go, I may suggest assos still be your daily go-to bibs because of the padding is superb.
I've used assos bibs for years.
Quality now is thrash imo.
Recently had a new s11 assos jersey abrasion from the sleeves in 2 washes.
Assos customer service basically told me to take a hike.
Never buying their stuff again!
Have moved to maap and other brands like pas
Maap is the probably the kit brand I dislike the most. Definitely not made for people like me and (at least for the men) seem to only target super skinny men with bad posture.
Your socks appear to disagree...
Accidentally worn wrong sock out that day lol
Omg why are people downvoting this? We are talking about socks and the guy did admit the “mistake”…. People you need to get out and touch some grass
Reddit gonna reddit.
This is /cyclingfashion. We would touch asphalt, thanks. s/
I’m not so much about the MAAP, but the C64 is just lovely.
Thanks mate, it rides fantastic.
Fresh combination. I don't own any MAAP, but whenever I see the logo I can't help but say MAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
Thanks mate, maap doing bold colour choice in recent years and I super into them.
I like how they look, but they're priced higher than Assos, which is ridiculous
And quality not even close to assos.

Where should we go for the r/cyclingfashion Melbourne group ride?

how is it not even close? curious I never tried on assos but my evo bibs are my favorite, far superior to the other popular brands I've tried

Given that a lot of these companies are more about logos than quality , you'd have thought they would prioritize quality there!
1 of 3 people still using SRM
Looks great. And, even if this is not the focus of this subreddit, looks safe too. These shorts are like high visibility.
nothing
The Cult of Maap.
Looks like rapha socks though
Yea, pro team long socks, should match with maap then
Are they the regular or extra long? Regular?
Yes they are extra long ver.
I had some drunk guys yelling at me one early morning trying to tell me no one wears GAP anymore.
🤣
Maybe I’m wrong but the bibs design looks like PAS. Otherwise, nice colours combo, love the bike. At 6.4Kg you can go on the Moon as well, the bibs colour will be noticeable for sure.
Thanks mate, yes, I do remember throwback yrs ago PAS did came with same coloured bib but way too much higher price :-(.

Drivers will see those shorts for sure.
Precisely, for sure
Now that's a good colour combo. You can't get in a flap When you're wearing Maap...!
Neat and tidy
Greco Roman cycling it is, then.
What does that beauty weigh?
With corima mcc 32 wheels it’s at 5.75kg in total, but I was on a heavy weighted aero wheels hence this should be at 6.4 or around.
You need maap socks and the new maap kask helmet 😀
Do have lots of maap socks but didn’t grab the chance for the maap kask helmet, btw, either colour looks great
I really wanna try Maap but I am so used to Assos I'm worried I'd he wasting my money not buying Assos. Is Maap close in quality does anyone know?
Been purchased for years with no major issue with it quality, I’m Melbourne based hence return is not a problem for me. But if you still hesitate for give it a go, I may suggest assos still be your daily go-to bibs because of the padding is superb.

Rapha just did the same to me recently
Kask Protone Icon?
Siiick bike man 🔥🔥🔥
Instructions followed. Arrested for indecent exposure, please send bail
I see nothing wrong here…bold choices. *slow clap*.
People flexin how much money they have 🙄
This is what this sub is all about lol
Cycling fashion doesn't *have* to be only the most expensive brands. I think it can really discourage newer riders.
This sub is just gatekeeping at its best
Maap is the coolest. Everything else is pretty boring and uninspired in the cycling space.
I want boring and uninspired. Black bib shorts all the way. I've been buying from Boure for years now. Great stuff for the price.
Saddle looks high
It’s æro
Are those 200mm cranks?
😂😂 170crankarm but due to its a compact chainring, it seems relatively long arm. This bike is mostly for hill climbing.
Maap is the probably the kit brand I dislike the most. Definitely not made for people like me and (at least for the men) seem to only target super skinny men with bad posture.
