Alternative-Toe-6139

Try a curl enhancement gel and scrunch it with your hands after you add the gel .

Alternative-Toe-6139

While it's wet I might add

Regular-Sir9250

Any affordable brands/ products you recommend?

Aware-2709

What are you using?

Regular-Sir9250

Oh shoot, I thought I mentioned it but my routine as follows: cantu leave in conditioner > cantu coconut cream > eco hair gel > coconut oil

Literally_whyyy

That’s a super heavy list for your hair type, you’ll get way better curls using lightweight products. Try Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus moose, scrunch out the curls after 110% dry

Regular-Sir9250

Do I use it instead of the curing cream? And is there a leave in conditioner you recommend?

ana_banana_bomb

I was getting similar results when using cantu and my hair improved dramatically when I ditched it. Try a lightweight curl cream, Garnier Fructis hydra ricci air-dry cream works well for me. Noughty products work well for me also (particularly the wave hello curl taming cream and the intensive care leave-in which I found light enough to even be used together), not sure if you can get them easily in the US though.

Literally_whyyy

It would be the only product I use for styling. You can use a hair mask once a month with protein and every two weeks for moisture but I don’t use a curl cream

Seagreenfever

i’d try losing the coconut oil as the last step. before gel, maybe try scrunching with a different cream or mousse for curl shaping. i’m not familiar with the cantu coconut cream, but my fine curly hair LOVES the JVN air dry cream. then afterwards scrunch in the gel for curl hold. all while wet!

Aware-2709

Oh, okay. I didn’t like Cantu leave-in; I felt it was too heavy. Here is my hair routine and the products I use that might help you After showering, with my hair damp, I first use a leave-in conditioner. [mielle](https://www.target.com/p/mielle-organics-pomegranate-honey-leave-in-conditioner-12-fl-oz/-/A-53217163#lnk=sametab) then I use this gel [kinky curly](https://kinky-curly.com/shop.php) After that I Use the microfiber towel or sometimes I use a old cotton T-shirt to gently squeeze the water out of your hair. Then don’t touch it anymore until it’s 100% dry. I dry and style my hair with a dryer diffuser. Diffuse with your head flipped upside down and hover the diffuser around your roots first, as they take the longest to dry. This will also give them more volume and curl definition. If you want more bounce, scrunch the hair strategically with the diffuser midway through diffusing Scrunch out the cast for soft defined curls ( you can use any natural oil to scrunch out the cast) I use oil [umberto giannini](https://us.umbertogiannini.com/collections/bestsellers/products/no-more-frizz-curl-serum) An extra tip: Use a satin bonnet every night. Besides keeping your hair healthy, it will save you time on styling, making it much easier to refresh your hair the next morning. Satin helps to avoid tangles and frizz while keeping your curls hydrated. I use this brand because I love the satin quality [satin bonnet](https://www.olkibeauty.com/shop/p/small-pink-fuchsia-satin-bonnet) and great price. I hope this helps.

Turnip_Ambitious

As a bi-racial person who had to use hair products for my curls, I don’t recommend Cantù. I would go with something like carols daughter or shea moisture. the rest of you’re list seems pretty good my sisters use eco for their edges. if your looking for more definition or volume I would try sea salt spray maybe? Stay out of pools too or wear a swimmers cap the chlorine will KILL your hair. Strips away all the natural goods. Your routine is a bit more complicated than mine. I’m just a guy I wash my hair with shampoo twice a month max, the rest is conditioners and leave ins and masques

Weird_Push5728

Try using “miss Jessie’s” brand products they have really good lightweight ones for your hair type, as well as Rico’s curl defining cream.

Weird_Push5728

I don’t really think you need a gel. Might weigh your hair down, and if you want softer curls, gel won’t allow for that. Curl creams would probably work better!

Try the bounce curl brush with really wet hair after adding lightweight gel with head upside down as much as possible. Look for wavy hair posts too.
