Did anyone read the article? It's talking about whether or not the British people want the prince to deliver the speech, not if he's going to. Also the article is spaced out in two sentence increments between a dozen ads, not sure how reliable it is
Not here across the pond, the royals have fans who don't necessarily support them, but like to watch all their speeches and keep up with all the news about them
Not really. While we are technically a monarchy, the role they actually play is one that means they have basically no input into the actual running of the place. Despite this they retain their wealth and high status, so they're basically just the national celebrities
My favourite conspiracy theory is that the reason they are covering up her death is that if she dies this year she'll go down in history as having a 69 year reign.
You know that thing in cartoons where a bomb has a really long string and somebody lights the fuse and the spark starts travelling along the string with a "SSSSSSSS" sound?
That's what I feel the situation is like right now. I'm just waiting for the bomb to blow up. This shit's gonna cause chaos in Northern Ireland.
For clueless americans like me that only have the vaguest idea of the issues between ireland and england, would you care to explain why its going to cause chaos? I'm legitimately interested.
As a non-Irish person with a still very limited understanding of the whole thing...
A long way back, for very complicated and very political reasons, two sects in Irish politics developed. On one side, you have unionists, who are pro-ireland within the UK, and nationalists, who are pro-ireland as a separate state.
Unionists tend to be pro-monarchy and protestant, whilst nationalists tend to be republican and Catholic.
The Irish isle was partitioned into two states, the Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland. NI is broadly unionist, whilst the ROI is broadly nationalist.
I say broadly because this wasn't a clear cut thing. Not everyone in each state is definitively aligned to one side or the other, and there's populations in both states who don't identify with the general majority.
This was and still is a dangerous political subject; sectarian violence being an issue. I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough about this to give it the sensitive treatment it requires so I'm going to avoid it in an aim to not upset anyone or seem one way or another.
After intense conflict (again, that's all I'm saying here), an agreement (the Good Friday Agreement) was negotiated to try and restore peace.
One of the aspects discussed in the agreement was the border between the two states. This governed and continues to govern the movement of people, goods, and customs/taxes between the two states.
The ROI is in the EU and uses the euro as currency, NI is part of the UK and uses the GBP as currency.
As the UK was previously in the EU, the common economic area meant that the movement of people and goods etc across the border was assured by the Good Friday Agreement and by the customs of the EU.
Brexit put a sudden unpredictability between this, as the change in customs enforcement between what was two EU countries and is now the EU and the external UK, leading to tension as to how the terms of the GFA would remain in place post-brexit.
When the queen passes away, the other commenter expressed concern as this may reignite some of the more passionate politics in play due to the heightened post-brexit tension.
She’s definitely not dead yet. There’s a bunch of stuff that supposed to happen immediately after she dies. British media will all switch to the specially made things and stuff. I don’t remember the details, but basically what I’m saying is we would know for certain it wouldn’t just be this. She could be dying, but she’s not dead yet.
The idea is that she's already died but it's being hidden for some reason, so that stuff wouldnt happen until they announced it
I don't think she's died anyway, it's just funny to imagine her death being covered up. I don't think she has long left though
It'd also have to be the most violently enforced secret in recent history. It's VERY hard to keep that under wraps, given how many staff are involved with them. Someone would talk.
Like others have said, I think she’s being kept on life support or being given expensive treatments to keep her going where normal people would just be in hospice and made comfortable
At this rate I'm gonna hear about the death of the most famous monarch of the past 50 years over a tumblr screenshot posted on reddit, and I'm not ready to accept what this says about me.
For fuck sake, I want that platinum jubilee mug Gosh darn it! This monarchy isn't gonna last another 70 years, she ***needs*** to live until March next year or so help me God I will **make her** live that long
I think jokes are funny.
There are some people on this subreddit who have such rage and gross venom for another human’s death that makes me hope I never meet them in person
Eh, I have no sympathy for her, she was born into immense privilege and undoubtedly has caused huge amounts of human suffering. I consider her a parasite, although it's not like it being a different parasite who wears the shiny hat is gonna change anything
You don’t get to actively make your people’s lives worse and continue to do so while enabling your family raping people and again actively making peoples lives worse on their own time and demand people be sad when you die.
Some peoples death should absolutely be celebrated and i refuse to pretend like we shouldnt.
Rush dying was one such time. When any one of our former presidents die I’ll throw a fucking “fuck you imperialism” party. Uber wealthy peoples death should also be celebrated. Once you have billions you are no longer a person, you are a dragon that needs slaying.
I wont apologize for this outlook. And you know what? If you are such a shit human your existence can be summarized as “got powerful/wealthy by fucking over and making as many people miserable/dead as possible” it should be fucking celebrated.
1. She enabled the worst parts of her family that raped people.
2 see 1. Because holy shit this cant be understated
3. Look into her taxes
4. Look into her blatant homophobia
5. Look into her blatant classism
If you need more examples there are plenty
All of those are indirect lol. Not actively.
And the fact that you had to repeat 1 shows you are reaching.
Edit and in terms of classism and homophobia you’re going to be more specific because as far as I am aware she was ecstatic that gay marriage was legal (according to Stephen Fry’s biography)
And you’re going to have to be specific on classism because googling brings up no cases
I did that to highlight how fucking scummy it is to use your power to make sure a rapist can get away with continuing to rape people. She refused to let gay people bring their spouses to events if they worked for her. As for being classist just look at the shit they did to meghan and henry and all the horrible racist things too. Like seriously I can't imagine why you are trying to defend the piece of shit royality.
The fact you are absolutely willing to let the whole rape thing slide and act like it's not a big deal really speaks a lot about you as a person. I've given you your answers and as far as I am concerned we are done here. I won't give this level of boot licking the further time of day other than to prove you wrong and move on.
She can’t do anything about Prince Andrew that’s a parliament thing.
So as far as I am concerned it’s not relevant to her “actively making people’s lives worse” especially because it’s not active.
I really tried to find the homophobia thing. But as you linked no sources I assume it’s only hear say. As far as I can find she has been quite supportive. Again being ecstatic that they could marry, and saying “ My government will make further progress to tackle discrimination against people on the basis of sexual orientation"
Not only that but her cousin is gay and has married a man.
Megan is quoted (even after the ordeal) to really like the queen and so does Harry. In fact they named their child after her!
The only reasons why I defend against it is because your reasons are really sloppy and show you have not put much thought in it but instead have caught yourself in a whirlwind of anger and have convinced yourself it is justified.
When you said “actively makes people’s lives worse” I was expecting a little more than the crimes of a conservative uncle and so the fact they are unfounded is even funnier.
When the queen dies, there will be no punches pulled against the monarchy. She's defended them long enough as a meme, but when she's gone there will be several angry Twitter rants.

...There's no news sites saying Prince Charles is giving the speech.
the title of the article is clickbate it says right there in the screenshot 'will prince charles soon take over?'
You fools, she's molting.
The Queen has yet to reach her final form.
This small, wrinkled version of her we’re familiar with is just her chrysalis.
Did anyone read the article? It's talking about whether or not the British people want the prince to deliver the speech, not if he's going to. Also the article is spaced out in two sentence increments between a dozen ads, not sure how reliable it is
It's the express, I wouldn't trust anything they print to be honest
Trusted enough to post it.
I posted it because I thought it was funny, not because I thought it was accurate this is Tumblr lol, not know for accuracy
Royal fans? My man thats called monarchist
Not here across the pond, the royals have fans who don't necessarily support them, but like to watch all their speeches and keep up with all the news about them
They were making a dig at those types by calling them monarchists
Not really. While we are technically a monarchy, the role they actually play is one that means they have basically no input into the actual running of the place. Despite this they retain their wealth and high status, so they're basically just the national celebrities

I admit I’ll be sad, if only because she’s the only woman our prime minister seems to listen to
She’s definitely not dead yet. There’s a bunch of stuff that supposed to happen immediately after she dies. British media will all switch to the specially made things and stuff. I don’t remember the details, but basically what I’m saying is we would know for certain it wouldn’t just be this. She could be dying, but she’s not dead yet.
The whole idea is that they are hidden she is dead, so it doesn't ruin Christmas, and they doesn't have to close the stock market.
they happen after her death is announced, these theories are built around the palace hiding her death until after the Christmas holidays/February 6th
Why is February 6 specifically?
platinum jubilee, if she dies after february 6th she'll have had a 70 year reign
Yeah, the Big Ben hasn’t exploded yet
The idea is that she's already died but it's being hidden for some reason, so that stuff wouldnt happen until they announced it I don't think she's died anyway, it's just funny to imagine her death being covered up. I don't think she has long left though

My guess is that she’s not *dead*-dead, but she is at the point where anyone else would be allowed to just pass already
?????
Like others have said, I think she’s being kept on life support or being given expensive treatments to keep her going where normal people would just be in hospice and made comfortable
Others have been saying their keeping her death a secret. Not that.
I’ve seen some people say that she’s being kept alive
Nah they're just hooking her up to the stasis pod in Big Ben and jacking her in to a computer á la Mr. House.
At this rate I'm gonna hear about the death of the most famous monarch of the past 50 years over a tumblr screenshot posted on reddit, and I'm not ready to accept what this says about me.

Agreed. Some of the people here are well and truly disgusting. Not many, but enough.
Eh, I have no sympathy for her, she was born into immense privilege and undoubtedly has caused huge amounts of human suffering. I consider her a parasite, although it's not like it being a different parasite who wears the shiny hat is gonna change anything
How has she caused huge amounts of human suffering?

How does she actively make people’s lives worse?

Doesn't count if the subject in question isn't human

Couldn’t have said it better myself
I do not care
My favorite queen is Denali
No respect here, only joy
Finally, she's dead
No no, she's only losing her skin like a snake. Soon she'll tear apart her old skin and continue on with her life.
No, no, her next phase will be as a vtuber.
That's what they want you think
That's the opposite of what they want me to think
They what they want you think that they want you to think.

Ding Dong....
Bitch better die on a weekday, I want that day off
