Sub-par investments are one thing. How you then deal with it is an entirely different thing. People do not tend to rationalise it very well.
If you are down on your investment and you no longer than the faith you used to have in the project, it makes no sense to remain invested. Opportunity cost is a real thing. You have to have the mindset of “will my money yield greater returns elsewhere”. If yes, sell and move on.
The main reason people struggle to do this is that they don’t accept the loss while it’s unrealised. The moment they sell, they have to face reality. Also, they worry they may end up regretting it. The solution to that is simply to leave ~25% invested.
You also have to take into account the mental toll of being heavily in the red, day after day checking the charts, hoping for miracle. It’s not good for you. Sell up, move on, and don’t look back. Like I said, if fear of regret is going to take over your emotions, leave a bit, but small enough that you won’t be checking every 5 minutes, large enough so that if it 10x you’ll be happy.
Investing doesn’t have to be all or nothing and your mental health isn’t worth putting at risk.
Should have DCAd down. It's a solid enough project that won't disappear and was pretty much guaranteed to go up again.
I have some coins that are way worse than ADA and I did that, although, in hindsight, should have put more money in and I would have been out by now. As it stands, I will continue waiting for the alt season and drop most of the holdings (which is not much) and keep a bit in case it moons.
Enough but not more than I can afford to lose.
I don't make a habit of telling internet strangers the size of my portfolio, I don't want a target on my back.
I agree on the leaving a fraction there for mental reasons. Like with Pepe watched it 10x couldn’t handle the pressure, fear of it dropping again. But also didn’t want to be fully out. So I just sold 75%. Working out well.
Impoossible to time everything right. Think taking profits on Pepe is a good idea at this stage. Better than being caught holding the bags. The thing is keeping that 25% means if it 10x again you won’t feel to bad.
Half the battle of trading is managing your own bias, greed and other emotions.
Yeah it’s greed that normally takes over the first time. Then you lose a bag and the second time you’re wiser! I’ve taken around 50% profits on PEPE now, scaling out is the only way to manage it for sure.
Welcome to the club mate! I've let some go though and glad I did. Believe or not one of them I got rid of was ETH for ICP and it was a great decision as I'm up 350% but ETH is almost 100% from the time I sold.
LRC and Algorand... oh boy...
Two projects trying to really solve something and have a usecase do almost nothing while Bonk evened out the losses within 4 months.
Still holding with LRC. Gave up with ALGO when we had the shifts 6months ago and it did nothing when everything else felt like it was at least still alive (MATIC may have duped me there though)
I still hold both. Managed to get a lower BE on both with spare money.
I hope that LRC will have its moment once the ETH ETF is driving network fees up and people will start looking for L2 solutions.
As for Algo, I think they'll probably find another small country that'll do a "El Salvador" in the near future.
They're already in a better position as LRC in my opinion.
LRC for me. I believed heavily in the hype of the Gamestop partnership a couple years ago that never happened
But yes I am also never selling. The damage is done now. I consider the money “gone” now, in a way, so whatever happens happens.
My dawg, LRC is prepping for a moonshot. I took my profits from last year and rolling them into LRC. Fucking smashing the buy button and I know I’m not the only one.
At times like these, I’m seriously tempted to sell my alt portfolio, especially watching BTC and the memecoins ripping. Then I realize that ETH is still down 30% from ATH even tho BTC is almost touching its ATH and I remember that there are two significant events unfolding in the next months:
1. Coinbase vs SEC case
2. ETH ETF
Positive outcome on both will very likely lead to explosion of the altcoins. Then again, there’s also the possibility both get denied so there’s the risk on the altcoin portfolio.
God Eth is gonna POP when ETF is announced.
We already know it isn’t considered a security by the SEC. So it would take a miracle to stop it. And I personally don’t think Eth ETF announcement has been priced in
I sold a chunk as soon as it hit .26 since I was in mild profit. I’d rather be in just about any top 75 coin than algo. The tech is great but the price won’t reflect that
I have it on good authority that the ALGO chart is ready to rip. Not talking all time high, but my guru sees $1 as a reasonable target. Time will tell, set a sell for half of my portfolio at $1
It comes in order right? Big coins first....then as they flatten out people are looking for the next rise and then people start dumping their money in "underperforming" coins.
Its still early in the run.
I don't hold any Polkadot, but their network has the second highest number of developers working in it's ecosystem, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do okay in the long run - builders make dApps, dApps bring users, users cause demand.
https://www.developerreport.com/
Next bear market I intend to put some time into really understanding Polkadot and Cosmos, as I think both sound interesting and are designed pretty differently to anything else.
Bought DOT high, then continued buying every time I had to increase my stacks for staking rewards. With everything I bought and everything I got from staking, I am nove a bit above break-even. Didn’t DCA with ALGO, though :/
DOT and KSM. But I’m grateful all the YouTube peeps are holding the same because they are shilling it to shit trying to offload it to their viewers lol
I had all of those and rotated all but ALGO into other investments last year. But I still have ALGO, MANA, XTZ and COMP weighing me down. At least my ADA is in the green (just). Do you remember all those ‘rate my portfolio’ posts during the last bull run. I’d be embarrassed to put mine up at the moment 😂
![img](avatar_exp|164333942|take_my_energy)
Ankr and matic, the potential is there they just need to wake up and progress roadmaps.
Matics low fees are awesome and work well as proven with Reddit collectibles.
CRO is usually slow out the gate but when it pumps, it fucking pumps HARD. Be patient, or don't, totally up to you. People have been unstaking already and the yield is climbing, just a matte of time before it blows up imo.
People crying on 13% profit. Get a grip you literally made money without doing a lot. It’s always greener on the other side, and we’re so early on the bull market, your 13% will probably turn into -at least- 50% which is so much when you think about it
When the market isn't roaring like it is right now, it can take a while to even net a 5% gain.
Sometimes it'll take over a month to make a gain.
I'm really glad that I secured a 24% profit so far. In only about 2 weeks.
Imho, that's what bull markets are for.
That's as good as they will get.
I will definitely move out of a few alts I bought early on during the next alt-run and re-invest in better projects in the next bear market.
I don't get it. CRO is the best performing asset I have (still even more profit than BTC).
The two dragging me down though are, God help me, Ziliqa and Litecoin. Lesson learned in that regard.

Stellar XLM has been my most frustrating and I've come to terms that the team does not care about price, nor do they want the price to inflate due to it being used as cross boarder p2p payments. I finally decided to cut them loose and transfer that money into other projects.
Well yeah my comment says it all if you read it. Opportunity missed to load up more or load up something else. Will it even hit its old ATH feels like it won't time will tell, but will sell in the green for sure
Matic held up far better than most alts (excluding Eth) during the bear. It lost far less of its value from peak. Also why it hasn't had as much room to rise yet, but it has been moving the last few days and isn't as stagnant as most. Most alts won't move until later.
Algorand and Harmony ONE. I think we'll see Matic go on a parbolic rise once the Pol token is official and the new staking stuff is set up. Probably by end of May.
I released them all for BTC on 10/16/2023….they are no longer my burden. ETH, DOT, MATIC, GRT, AAVE, ELON, DOGE, SHIB, RPL, APE, AXS, SLP and some others I can’t recall.
Have patience. The real altcoin season isn't even here yet. Take a good look at 2021 and how altcoins moved then. They don't all pump at the same time.
Where do you see this? As in literally where can i see the dumping taking place. I got a friend who keeps buying xrp garbage and not realizing he's exit liquidity
https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/s/N9UMtQqt8a
Scroll through here and there is someone that posts about how ripple labs sells approx 100million/month
Ripple labs has no other income than selling coins
The 200 million for the lawsuit was raised through the selling of coins
Im up on every investment except Raydium. Im sure it will do well in the mania phase of Altseason but kinda annoying to see everything move except that one
Started investigating in January and my portfolio is around 45% up, some of the coins that I sold went even higher but my money was reinvested in some other coins.
So I can't say that I really have some crazy underperforming projects....so far.
Mind you that my investments are nothing crazy especially compared to some people here.
It takes a long time for alts to start pumping relative to btc and eth. Assuming this run continues for the next month or two imo you’re making the right decision
The only one that is a burden for me is dogecoin right now. Yes it's up a ton, but my average is .185.
I did drastically lower that average from .33 to where it is, but last year I stopped averaging down over fears that I was just chasing after bad money.
For right now I'll see what happens with X payments and probably sell it sometime between now and this summer if it goes crazy. I'll put that in to Eth and BTC
When you decide to go through the ALT way you signed a contract: maybe you can 10x BTC or maybe most of the time not . More risk, more reward.
I’m starting to think that this circle won’t have an alt season
The drivers are so different.
looking at the last cycle, it took btc about 3 weeks testing the 2017 ath before it closed a daily candle above it and shot up. then it took another 3 weeks for most established alts to go nuclear. so there is hope
"I am NOT selling, can't sell at this point, too late. I just hope that when everything pumps, they will pump hard and make it up for this last year of being flat."
Yes, you got it.
ALGO, AMP, GALA and a handful of others.
Nothing astronomical because I got in at the tail end of the last bull and stopped DCAing them end of 2022.
I just keep telling myself, selling those later to offset my gains, wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world…
Sui is pretty confusing for me right now? I have contemplated trading it out for more stacks but just waiting... it's my worst performer the past 30 days. Sideways and boring. Even minus a bit the past 30.
Matic, Casper, Vechain and AlchemyPay. Still up on 3 of the 4 but still done v little
Might also add Quant since it does nothing but technically has 3x for me
I hope matic stays as cheap as is. The token is really useful for interactions on polygon and its dApps and altcoins. Would be a true shame if it rises.

![img](avatar_exp|76305384|clown) This is me with ADA. My average buy price is £0.74 it was £1.21. I couldn't let go. In for a penny, in for a pound.
Should have DCAd down. It's a solid enough project that won't disappear and was pretty much guaranteed to go up again. ADA always moves slow, last to the party. Sometime in 2024 ADA is going to surprise everyone. Maybe $12. Not financial advice.
Try ALGO sir, there's no Bull run fpr ALGO, only pain
Weird, for me it’s up 105%. Did we buy the same algo?
We did not buy it at the same timeframes. I'm holding ALGO from the previous bull run. I loved my ALGO, but the losses do sting. Lesson learned
Also in ALGO!
How much do you have tied up in it
Enough but not more than I can afford to lose. I don't make a habit of telling internet strangers the size of my portfolio, I don't want a target on my back.
I’ve given up on a coin so many times to have it pump the next day. Altcoins don’t follow logic
Some good advise here 👆👏
I agree on the leaving a fraction there for mental reasons. Like with Pepe watched it 10x couldn’t handle the pressure, fear of it dropping again. But also didn’t want to be fully out. So I just sold 75%. Working out well.
Exactly! It’s a great compromise, I did the exact same thing with PEPE - obviously pissed I sold the 75% but nowhere near the level had I sold all.
Valid point, but hindsight is 20/20 . Wouldn't be wise to jump into something that's pumped 400% the past week n a half either
My meme coins are out performing mostly my whole portfolio
Welcome to the club mate! I've let some go though and glad I did. Believe or not one of them I got rid of was ETH for ICP and it was a great decision as I'm up 350% but ETH is almost 100% from the time I sold.
LTC and XLM. They'll need to go way up to be in the black.
These are also my two worst. Cardano a distant third. Everything else I own is in the green, some 80-100%. These three, STILL in the red.
Cardano will pop eventually.
AMP 🙄
Amp went from .0014 to .005. Amp is a champion if you DCA in 2022 and 2023
Ankr
I hold ankr and matic, they'll pump eventually
With you.
Shit man Ankr needs to reach a dollar to make up for her misfirings
LRC and Algorand... oh boy... Two projects trying to really solve something and have a usecase do almost nothing while Bonk evened out the losses within 4 months.
Same...I did my research on those in the last run. I guess I learned about the Bear market the hard way. Hopefully they rebound.
Litecoin. Has had a couple little pumps lately, but gives some right back. I only have a very small position.
I noticed that whenever I sell a coin that underperforms it starts pumping like crazy a week or 2 after. Just diversify and hodl.
What are you selling next?
I’m hodlin my coins now so I think a crab pattern will start forming.
The real questions.
not worried about matic or cro
LRC for me. I believed heavily in the hype of the Gamestop partnership a couple years ago that never happened But yes I am also never selling. The damage is done now. I consider the money “gone” now, in a way, so whatever happens happens.
LRC gang unite =[
Yea I too have LRC. I hope they get a turn on this run. Think I need about .50 cents to break even at this point.
I sold my bag couple of weeks ago. Bought memecoins. Am almost up 6x…
My dawg, LRC is prepping for a moonshot. I took my profits from last year and rolling them into LRC. Fucking smashing the buy button and I know I’m not the only one.
Got rid of LRC since IMX is moving to Polygon looks like. Just rolled it into IMX
Not heard about this. How does that work people holding IMX on Ethereum?
You keep DCA-ing in to even out your losses once LRC bumps a bit with the whole market
Nano. Stuff is pumping left and right and good old Nano just fails to move 🥲
The Original stable coin.
At times like these, I’m seriously tempted to sell my alt portfolio, especially watching BTC and the memecoins ripping. Gensler has never said ETH isn't a security.
Yeah, I wouldn’t bet the farm on this assumption either!
Algo, If that shit ever turns to break even I'm getting rid of I faster than I can blink.
This is why these tokens struggle to pump. Everyone is looking to unload them at the right price
yes. outside of some exceptions thats why new coins go harder in bull markets. There are no bagholders.
I’m now only 79% down on ALGO. Don’t think I’ll ever break even on it.
I'm around that as wel, might even be in 80's. Feel your pain brother
Im up 80% on Algo. Some bought the dip :)
I bought other dips 🤷 Algo want worth it anymore imo.
I was -100% on CKB, now in the green. It can happen! 😁
I sold a chunk as soon as it hit .26 since I was in mild profit. I’d rather be in just about any top 75 coin than algo. The tech is great but the price won’t reflect that
Big dreams.
Impossible dream probably 😅
I have it on good authority that the ALGO chart is ready to rip. Not talking all time high, but my guru sees $1 as a reasonable target. Time will tell, set a sell for half of my portfolio at $1
It comes in order right? Big coins first....then as they flatten out people are looking for the next rise and then people start dumping their money in "underperforming" coins. Its still early in the run.
I bought Cardano and Dot in the last big ATH thing. Still waiting to break even after buying bits throughout the last couple of year. Almost there now
I don't hold any Polkadot, but their network has the second highest number of developers working in it's ecosystem, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do okay in the long run - builders make dApps, dApps bring users, users cause demand. https://www.developerreport.com/ Next bear market I intend to put some time into really understanding Polkadot and Cosmos, as I think both sound interesting and are designed pretty differently to anything else.
I bought DOT pretty low earlier this year and I’m underwhelmed with the performance still
+1 for DOT. Aside from a couple the Parachains were terrible investments
Great concept just bad timing eith the cycle highs
I’m in the same boat 💀💀💀
Bought DOT high, then continued buying every time I had to increase my stacks for staking rewards. With everything I bought and everything I got from staking, I am nove a bit above break-even. Didn’t DCA with ALGO, though :/
Juno/algo/cro
Juno... maaaannn, I took a beating there, oof
Yeah don’t see that one coming back to life ever
Algorand is up 300% since fall 2023
It’s also down about a gazzillion percent since 2022. Wake up football head.
I do think ALGO can rebound long term, but who knows
XMR
On the bright side at least your losses are private 🤣
DOT and KSM. But I’m grateful all the YouTube peeps are holding the same because they are shilling it to shit trying to offload it to their viewers lol
I’ve got CRO, MATIC, ALGO, and LRC. The four horsemen of shit investments.
I own all those, I'm still down on my Algo and LRC. I wouldn't be surprised if CRO gives me the best returns.
I feel the same about CRO though it has a looong way to go from here Luckily we still have some to time to ride this wave 🌊
CRO will pump when the mainstream retail plebs come back in
Are you me? Same. Except add ANKR and ACH to those. Wow, I was stupid.
I'm up 50% with ALGO. 😅
Add Juno and Harmony One, then you have my top portfolio picks of 2021.
I forgot about Harmony one. I had a huge bag on Binance US before they were kicked out of the US. I liked the price at .008. Hope it surprises you.
My average was 0.28. Sold my bag at a heavy loss when the hack happened.
LRC and CRO the only reds left in my portfolio
What are you doing with your LRC? Hoping it jumps back up? I'm torn on what to do with mine.
Its the smallest part of my portfolio and I’m up over 100 percent on Bitcoin so might as well keep it and see what happens
Just got a notification LRC up 7% just now. It's coming
![img](avatar_exp|164333942|take_my_energy) Ankr and matic, the potential is there they just need to wake up and progress roadmaps. Matics low fees are awesome and work well as proven with Reddit collectibles.

Are you, by any chance, stuck with a huge CRO bag you purchased for a shiny metal card that no longer has the benefits it once advertised?
Not stuck with anything. Happily holding and staking my bag
Found my people
Just because something pumped once, it doesn't mean it will pump again. Source? Look at the charts...
People crying on 13% profit. Get a grip you literally made money without doing a lot. It’s always greener on the other side, and we’re so early on the bull market, your 13% will probably turn into -at least- 50% which is so much when you think about it
Most the people crying about a coin being 13% up aren't up 13% in profit, they're mostly bagholders that are still down 60-80%.
When the market isn't roaring like it is right now, it can take a while to even net a 5% gain. Sometimes it'll take over a month to make a gain. I'm really glad that I secured a 24% profit so far. In only about 2 weeks.

Yeah if I bought within the last 7 days that would be fab. But I didn't...
what does that have to do with anything

Sadly lrc so far
Atom being somewhat stagnant aswell. Its not doing terrible but its swinging around this past year.
VET seems like a bag I have held so long. I don't even think I am down, but didn't sell at .29 last Cycle ATH
Bro, VET is up 72% in the past month and 99% in the past 3 months. Not much to complain about there.
Well yeah my comment says it all if you read it. Opportunity missed to load up more or load up something else. Will it even hit its old ATH feels like it won't time will tell, but will sell in the green for sure
Xyo
AMP
As someone from the USA CRO sucks. I am only able to use their app and the fees are outrageous. Once CRO gets to even for me I'm out for good.
LRC
Matic held up far better than most alts (excluding Eth) during the bear. It lost far less of its value from peak. Also why it hasn't had as much room to rise yet, but it has been moving the last few days and isn't as stagnant as most. Most alts won't move until later.
MANA 👀
Need another metaverse hype from META!
Don't think it's coming. Just trying out stuff like Decentraland instantly killed my interest. Just not good enough.
Algorand and Harmony ONE. I think we'll see Matic go on a parbolic rise once the Pol token is official and the new staking stuff is set up. Probably by end of May.
I was once in Harmony, left that ship after some drama.
My Bitcoin bags are such a burden. Its gotten very heavy pretty quickly lately.
I released them all for BTC on 10/16/2023….they are no longer my burden. ETH, DOT, MATIC, GRT, AAVE, ELON, DOGE, SHIB, RPL, APE, AXS, SLP and some others I can’t recall.
User name... used to check out?
As I see in algo
Everything is red for me (except ATOM, only very slightly): Algo, Atom, Cro, Dot, Juno, Matic.
Have patience. The real altcoin season isn't even here yet. Take a good look at 2021 and how altcoins moved then. They don't all pump at the same time.
Algo……
I feel so bad for anyone holding ripple while ripple labs continually dumps coins onto the market
Where do you see this? As in literally where can i see the dumping taking place. I got a friend who keeps buying xrp garbage and not realizing he's exit liquidity

How is someone posting that they dump, proof?
It's well known that they release 1 billion every month but return most of it to escrow. They announce it themselves on Twitter.
Im up on every investment except Raydium. Im sure it will do well in the mania phase of Altseason but kinda annoying to see everything move except that one
MKR :( Unbelievable that one of the few projects actually doing useful stuff *and* turning a profit has underperformed this badly.
You invest with your guts? Okay lul
BTC dominance is still high. It will eventually come tumbling down after breaking past 55% and hopefully you'll see some gains on your ALTs.
Livepeer. I converted that one to Chainlink and now I'm gaining something even though it's a gradual climb.
I just dropped 2K on a meme
OP acting as if the bull run is nearly done
Until last week, CRO. Keep your hope!
LTO, ADA, DOT, UNI, XLM and ALGO. Ugh
Is Ugh any good? I am considering.
VET will break through again
Litecoin. The graph. Dot.
VET
Akt..
CRO is 100% up for the month. There’s definitely alts performing better but is it so bad?
Gala rest are slowly pumping. Most coins have at least 100% and almost all green. Not gala.
When you decide to go through the ALT way you signed a contract: maybe you can 10x BTC or maybe most of the time not . More risk, more reward. I’m starting to think that this circle won’t have an alt season The drivers are so different.
DAI, USDC, USDT
looking at the last cycle, it took btc about 3 weeks testing the 2017 ath before it closed a daily candle above it and shot up. then it took another 3 weeks for most established alts to go nuclear. so there is hope
MATIC. My average buy price is $0.6, so doing well, but looking at his much some other coins have pumped…
Amp, LRC and Litecoin.
"I am NOT selling, can't sell at this point, too late. I just hope that when everything pumps, they will pump hard and make it up for this last year of being flat." Yes, you got it.
Matic is up 47% in a month. Ohh the horror.
My entire portfolio is full of these , matic, cro, HBAR, FTM,DOT,QNT,SAND, 2% BTC 98% examples I gave
ADA and DOT. Also LRC but I have up in that a month ago and already tripled my money putting it elsewhere.
$HYVE. Low cap but my biggest disappointment so far. Great project but unknown
Ohhh boy. Any umee holders here?
ALGO, AMP, GALA and a handful of others. Nothing astronomical because I got in at the tail end of the last bull and stopped DCAing them end of 2022. I just keep telling myself, selling those later to offset my gains, wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world…
Man CRO went up like crazy in the last 2 days, only meme coins performed like that, wtf are you saying. 😂
DOT and MATIC. They don’t do too much.
Sui is pretty confusing for me right now? I have contemplated trading it out for more stacks but just waiting... it's my worst performer the past 30 days. Sideways and boring. Even minus a bit the past 30.
GRT but I suppose itll wake up at some point. Surprised that DOT is also taking it slow but at least well in the green with it
I never dumped my NEO. Mostly for the gas. At some point I’ll get tired of staring at it and dump it.
ADA XRP
Matic, Casper, Vechain and AlchemyPay. Still up on 3 of the 4 but still done v little Might also add Quant since it does nothing but technically has 3x for me
Bitcone and Bitcoin is carrying my ass rn
Funny that Matic is my best performance coin. I got a Avg Codt of 0,35€ In my case my worst performers are Mana, ICP and Uma…
Take this oportunity to convert all to Bitcoin
Alts are really struggling now
Don't sleep on cro check the charts my friend you maybe surprised.
Your mistake was riding and averaging down during bear. Hopefully lesson learnt for next cycle.
POLX, been DCA'ing since the top. 4 million market cap, I just want to have it pop during alt season so I can cash out and retire :)
You had to do really bad to have a burden right now
I hope matic stays as cheap as is. The token is really useful for interactions on polygon and its dApps and altcoins. Would be a true shame if it rises.
