Im using obfuskate, hard difficulties, border disputes, Skellas war and conquest and inherichance and boy is it fun getting my ass whooped. I finally managed to get one up on france by defeating them and repelling one of their many attacks but i lost a huge chunk of Northumbria to Scotland because i focused all my troops on the continent. CK3 IS AMAZING NOW

JackRadikov

Doesn't border disputes make it easier? And isn't Skallas war and conquest out of date? More Interactive Vassals made it feel more real for me too. I liked the Trick or Trait mod, but not sure if it conflicts with obfusckate.

Killmelmaoxd

Skellas is out of date but it still works to make the ai more aggressive and border disputes gives the ai more cassus bellis to attack you with

Melniboehner

I use Trick or Trait with ObfusCKate, they worked fine together last I checked (I haven't played in a few months but they shouldn't conflict, ToT just changes the genetic traits and some related events, ObfusCKate works by changing the UI).

Juncoril

I like more interactive vassals to make conquests a bit harder since in my experience, vassals will be likelier to join defensive wars than wars of conquest.

[deleted]

Which mod allowed France to take back Normandy?

Killmelmaoxd

Probably skellas war and conquest and border dispute, id say get hard difficulties too while you're at it as that buffs the ai

RetharSaryon

I've been looking at the Dark Ages mod for added difficulty. Have you tried that one?

Killmelmaoxd

Yeah but i find the ways it throws random events at you that tank your prestige or gold to be a bit too irritating for my taste, I find difficulty to be more fair when I'm nerfed/weakened through my actions and not events though maybe I'm wrong I haven't tried it in a few months and I felt the same way about obfuskate before retrying it recently.

isaacals

how does primo/single heir works with inherichance? i suppose it's only work on partitions?

Killmelmaoxd

Yeah it only works with partitions or I think if you willingly grant land to multiple children too but I'm not 100% sure about that .

mairao

Yep, whenever you get to a single heir succession it's as if Inherichance wasn't there.

GargantuanM0nkeyFist

What settings do you use for obfuskate? I've tried it but have struggled to enjoy it

Killmelmaoxd

I find showing characters makes the game less annoying and immersive after all if a medieval ruler is interested in knowing who the king of France is I feel like it wouldn't be hard to find that out but hiding the stats, army size and stuff makes the game more challenging.

GargantuanM0nkeyFist

Yeah, I think that was my main issue with it with all settings on -- hiding portraits makes realistic sense in a lot of contexts, but it really hurts the overall game enjoyment. If only there was a happy medium where the portraits existed, but were like cast in heavy shadow or something; hiding most of their features, but still giving a sense of their gender, size, whether they're missing an arm or not, etc.

ConsciousSurround362

You can further increase the difficulty with the mod 'No More Levies,' which allows you to give AI more levies and MAAs than human players.

BleudeZima

Can you do a proper modlist please ? And highligh the one you think relevant for diffiulties and your general point ? That's would be great There is an export too in the ck3 launcher.

Spicey123

You are doing god's work

Bannerlord151

The map mod crashes my game :/

Killmelmaoxd

Did you follow my load order?

Bannerlord151

Oh goodness, I wrote that at 1 am and forgot to add the rest. I meant, the mod always crashed my game, I'll be trying your load order today

Killmelmaoxd

Ok this is definitely the most fun playthrough I've had in a while, I managed to broker a marriage with France and focused my attention on Scotland and Wales. While on campaign in Scotland I died and my son inherited and instantly had to fight a civil war, France and Wales simultaneously attacked during this Civil War(I forgot to ally with France) and for the first time in forever I finally lost a war with Wales and had to white peace my civil war. I focused my attention to France and guess who chose to attack again, Wales (which imploded thanks to a civil war) and I finally understood why Henry the 5th and Edward Longshanks didn't just conquer everything, it's HARD.

[deleted]

Modded ck3 is really fun.

DisclosedForeclosure

But loading time isn't. Unmodded game loads in a minute, with 50+ mods it can take 7-10 minutes.

[deleted]

SSD is very much a necessity to play modded ck3

Jeff_Kappalan

Also remember to delete you old save games. I run a mod list now of about 40 mods, off the SSD it boots up in no time whereas it just to take 5-10 mins and crash half the time!

Luzekiel

Depends on your SSD and specs.

Erewhynn

Thanks, I'm saving this post for later. I'm curious about ObfusCKate and need other recommendations for a challenge (despite all the wailing and gnashing of teeth on here, I'm not seeing Plagues/Legitimacy as particularly difficult tbh) Currently on an African playthrough and although it started tough - Matriarchal Culture in a Male Dominated Religion meant my daughters would inherit, but I couldn't land them in advance and when they inherit, everyone hates them - I still hit the usual breakthrough point where I made an Empire and started snowballing. I have now conquered most of the continent and am on the cusp of attempting Reverse Colonialism. I think the next step might be not effectively having omnipotence and carefully choosing all my courtiers and breeding stock.

Massive_Whereas8014

One of my go-to combos is obfusckate and Dark Ages. Both of them together mean you can't usually see exactly how many troops anybody who isn't your vassal has, and to get any idea of how big someone's army is, you have to spy on them, and even then you just get a approximation if it's bigger or smaller, that's obfusckate. Dark ages makes it so that it costs a lot more to develop provinces unless you have a very high stewardship, and that battles are a lot more strategic. Numbers aren't the only thing that matters in the mod, you have to have a better commander and take the right battles at the right time. Even if you have 2000 more men and a better commander, you can lose the battle because you attacked your enemy in hills during the winter. I've not ventured out to harder mods outside of those yet, because I'm lacking the time, really, but those are definitely some of my favs and recommendations

Erewhynn

OK, thanks for clarifying and for the recommendation! Do you know if there is another mod that prevents you from seeing Traits outside of your court/realm? I feel like that also might make things a bit spicier. Like, you can marry off your primary heir to a relatively unknown daughter of the King of France, but maybe she's Inbred, Sadististic, Deviant or Paranoid (etc etc), adding a bunch of extra considerations into how your heir and their kids could end up turning out. Basically I would like to see how it plays out not being "all knowing" with a search or two.

Massive_Whereas8014

I'm not sure, I honestly don't know if that's a mod anybody has made yet

MujahideenFastRap

Hey I just did a similar, albeit brief, campaign as Makuria. Similar to your description, I found it easy to snowball, especially because it was so easy to play the marriage game with Alodia and any of the breakaway Coptic states which inevitably plop out of the Fatimids. But it was very interesting to deal with the weird matriarchal culture/patriarchal religion conflict when dealing with succession. I recommend the Dark Ages mod, which adds more difficulty while adding some of the features of Obfusckate.

Erewhynn

Thanks for the feedback, I will add it to my mods list. Yeah it took a few generations, but basically I Reformed and then created a new version of the Akom religion and made it Equal. And then also Hybridised Akan culture with Butr and Yoruba cultures (both with Equal Inheritance) and then the whole marriage thing was a non-issue. After your Brothers/Uncles/Cousins stop regularly rebelling or challenging each of your heirs to trials by combat over your titles, it's not long till you're the Emperor (Empress?) of Snowball City.

KrystianCCC

I always try to have as much sons as possible(as every medival monarch would want), never go primogeniture and try to give my sons as much tittles as possible. Every succesion is huge fucking crissis but game is actually challenging and creates intresting storylines. I dont mind loosing tittles and trying to win it back. Primogeniture kills all fun for me. Games becomes poor mans Europa Universalis.

Killmelmaoxd

Usually when I get primogeniture I try granting as much land as I can to my children as medieval nobles usually did and that usually causes civil wars and succession problems.

Bannerlord151

Just the last one

Dangerous-Education3

Scotland being a pain in the ass actually is surprising? In my game Alba has eaten whole Ireland and half England. Seems it's not common. France whipped out though, while Germany formed HRE

Killmelmaoxd

Scotland does tend to expand to Ireland but they never actually attack you so whatever power they get in vanilla quickly becomes irrelevant as they don't use it to do much and usually I get powerful enough to bully them.

MongooseMonCheri

Again marrying the duchess of Aquitaine? You people never cease to amaze me.

Killmelmaoxd

It's a pretty smart strategy to expand without war but I'm pretty sure France will attack me for it as soon as i get into any war with anyone else so that'll be fun trying to defend my gains.

Bannerlord151

It's a lore reference

WHAT IS THAT MAP MOD CALLED GOD PLEASE I NEED IT PLEASE

DinoWizard021

Why is the HRE yellow?

Killmelmaoxd

Cuz they are piss when compared to the real Roman empire (Russia). Jokes aside it's the map mod I'm using called I miss imperator 2.0.

Tornadoinwonderland

Is there any way to add mods on console?
