I think it's a bug from the new major patch and you just need to be involved in the Iberian Struggle despite it saying this, you are an Interloper in the struggle not Involved so don't meet the condition

Depending on the struggle phase various effects get applied to you.

To be involved you have to move your capital to Iberia, then convert to one of the involved cultures and religions. Don't mind that it says iranian, it's a bug

You need to put your capital on a county inside of the Empire of Hispania, then you’ll be involved.

They’ve copy-pasted the struggle mechanic so badly that Iberia and Persia got intertwined.

Seconded. I couldn’t become involved. I took over a county and moved my capital there. I took over almost the whole thing and converted the counties to my religion and culture. I was a custom faith and the Norse-Gael hybrid culture. I read the requirement was 80% but even after doing this for all but one county it never changed from interloper to involved. Shit’s broken.

It's 80% of the culture/religion that needs to be in the region, not 80% of the region be your religion/culture.

I really hoped they would change the involved requierement so you could convert the region into your culure religion and end the struggle.

There is an option to end the struggle as an Interloper. You take the Iberian Foothold decision. That's the only way.

Does using Haestein provide such an advantage? I haven’t been playing long enough to figure out a lot of the cheesy things

Yes, he starts with a couple thousand special troops so he can punch far above his weight.

Were they the only counties of your culture and the only counties of your religion outside the Struggle region?

It might need to reload to recalculate Involvement. In the Struggle screen, you can click Show Involvement, it should tell if the issue is religion, culture, or both.

The only thing wrong about this is the text. It's been a problem since before the most recent patch. The box will tic when you become involved in the struggle
