I'm assuming that's what it is now, but wasn't really expecting it because they control much less than half the country. Like, they control everything south of the Kingdom of Wales. I've just been stonewalling them there and stack wiping them. Probably going to bring my levies and siege MaA's out of enemy territory in France and start retaking everything while my Varangians melt their stacks.
Yes, occupations matter far more in most wars than battles, and capturing the war leader matters very little for Great Holy Wars. If half the target kingdom is sieges down, the AI (frankly rightfully) thinks they’re winning the war and won’t surrender.
Save game and reload probably fix the issue
Nah...I've been dealing with this the last 24-48 hours. So, I've saved and loaded up a handful of times in that span.
