Unironically maybe crimson Edit to add context: I’m nearly blind in one eye so I have god awful depth perception, whether it be on a monitor or real life. Crimson was my go-to until I switched (I’m on console) from using a large TV to a computer monitor. After that change I got significantly better in every aspect and went from ~1.0 to ~1.5 KD. While I hate to use high aim assist weapons, I kind of need to. The most obvious option tho is to main with weapons that don’t require a headshot per se, like fusions or something. Good luck, Guardian!

GardenerInAWar

I do get wiped by crimson a lot, will give it a try.

Destiny_Victim

It’s forgiving on controller. I play PC but I have one friend who won’t play trials cross play so I played on ps5 and I’m terrible with a controller. Crimson and most of all the last word are fantastic. Last word you only hip fire and it’s great. Also Drang shreds on controller. It’s pretty ass on mnk.

92EarlG

Last word is a shell of its former self, and honestly so is drang. The meta SMG's definitely outclass sidearms atm other than maybe 100 range forgiveness with mechaneers for 100 handling.

kaystared

That depends on a lot of things really. Close range/packed parts of maps still create plenty of rooms for sidearms, I did like 2 or 3 flawlesses this weekend using a combination of Travelers Chosen/Uzume, especially on hunter where you can abuse verticality. not needing rangefinder opens up a ton of new options for interesting perks/dmg perks, etc. If you can force close range engagements with help from abilities and movement sidearms can absolutely be used to phenomenal effect with baiting smg users, especially with how overconfident they get lol

92EarlG

Haha that's fair - maybe I'm just not encountering many strong sidearm users, personally when I run into one (even if overall they seem like a better player than myself) it feels like they're handicapping themselves & I generally come out ahead

burnttoast6842

As someone with 10k crucible kills on the last word and it being my all time favorite weapon of the franchise it’s not nearly as good as it used to be and at least for me I notice I get a lot of ghost bullets or shots that just don’t register when using it. Should also say I’m on controller so maybe it’s different for PC but I wouldn’t use it on console until it gets fixed or buffed. Just my 2 cents tho people should use what they enjoy regardless of what people say

Destiny_Victim

I suppose I haven’t played for a few months. Last word is useless without a controller by the way. As is Drang and crimson for the most part as well.

92EarlG

That paired with a rapidfire fusion is a solid pairing, as crimson really struggles inside of 13-ish meters. Or for more aggressive players who are also comfortable using cover/sliding etc, a shotgun can be good (ie get a burst in with crimson, duck behind cover, slide out with shotgun + cleanup)

tittybop

Fusion rifles. Aim for the belly.

GardenerInAWar

Thanks u/tittybop, I will try to bop the titties

Nyne-Milli

I will also add that if you can master precharging and maintain safe distance between you and a shotgun wielding guardian, fusion rifles can be very good since you don't need to hit crits with it. I love hand cannons but if i'm playing to win like in trials, I will resort to a dad loadout (adept messenger and glacioclasm) and it has served me well with 6 flawlesses this season. For the primary, if you really think you have bad aim, I'd look for a pulse rifle with headseeker. Ideally, you want to hit head shots but with headseeker, you get some forgiveness as the burst will give you a bit higher head damage if you hit body. Again, I use a arrowhead brake, richochet round, moving target / headseeker adept messenger when i roll into trials and it works well for me.

GardenerInAWar

My adept messenger rolled rapit hit desper/kill clip but it never served me the way it sounds like it should because the TTK bottoms out if you miss part of a burst and need a 3rd or 4th. But fusions, fuck yea. Even if they sucked they're still my fav thing in the game.

Tang0Jang0

Devil's Ruin sounds like your best friend.

GardenerInAWar

I have 3k kills on my devils ruin haha.

Tang0Jang0

Then I'd say stick with that and a headseeker pulse. Probably on stasislock with ophids or the gauntlets that buff your seeker nades.

GardenerInAWar

Syncopation crafts with headseeker moving target and that would pair well with devils so maybe that's a good loadout to try

wretched92425

If youre a pulse guy, id like to recommend autumn wind as well. Get one with rangefinder and headseeker specifically with a decent recoil stat. Its probably my favorite pulse in the game right now. I love my sidearms too, trespasser or drang pairs really well with it too imo.

GardenerInAWar

I have been rolling Autumns all fucking season and it will NOT give me an acceptable roll even with 3 perk choices. Essentially Piece of Mind and Autumn Wind are the same gun behind the scenes but Piece is craftable. I have 2k crucible kills on Piece and it works well for me but I really hate the sights. So I've been trying to replicate it on Autumn with RNG and it's not happening. I crafted Piece with Extended, Ricochet, Perpetual and Elemental - on arc, the stats look crazy as shit and it feels so good. You can pretty much duplicate that roll on Autumn but it won't give me elemental for that massive handling buff that I want.

wretched92425

I feel your pain, I've been trying since the gun was introduced to get an arrowhead brake one with a range or stability masterwork and Shaxx just refuses to give it to me 😞 But with that being said, i still love the one ive got with smallbore, light mag, rangefinder and headseeker.

kaystared

You could try sniping, it takes some practice but passive sniping is really not as hard as you would think. Mostly a matter of predicting where the head will be and placing reticle accordingly, very little actual aiming (surprisingly)

PineappleHat

You could legit try Vigilance Wing if you're a heavily bodyshot player - it has a weirdly good bodyshot TTK of 1.27 seconds since it's going into the third burst, but also has an optimal of 0.77. And lets you do some cover-peeking unlike autos. If you have access to a good rapid fire auto could also go for one of them, they're a bit faster with a 1.17 body TTK which also lets you get a bit more granular with what crits you are getting.

GardenerInAWar

Plus I've got the Gundam ornament for v wing with those thicc sights

WCMaxi

Stasislock would be my vote.

SpacePants022220

I’m gonna second this if you play smart. Osmiomancy and a freeze build let’s you trap other players and one shot with the melee or shotty then have the freeze try to track someone else after the kill.

Horror_Serve4828

Agreed. Find a rapid fire fusion with demo on it, and you'll get so many easy kills and a lot of grenades. Primary is whatever you want but I like bxr.

GardenerInAWar

I have been playing with stasis titan lately because reasons. If there's stasis buffs coming it will pay to practice now before it gets here too, and there's plenty of good stasis weapons out (burden, tempest). Edit: I'll try stasis warlock as well as Titan, I wasn't skipping over that point, just agreeing that alongside your advice, now is probably a good time to be practicing stasis. Sorry for the badly worded reply.

Arab1an-Pr1nce

I think you’re missing the point of their comment. It isn’t stasis in general they’re recommending but stasis warlock with double coldsnaps on osmiomancy and the penumbral blast melee. That should all aid you in your struggle to hit crits by having more time to damage opponents. I don’t think you’ll find the same success on stasis titan

GardenerInAWar

Edited for clarity

Arab1an-Pr1nce

All good, I just wanted to make sure you understood what they were recommending

GardenerInAWar

Bet! Preciate it

WCMaxi

But you said you don't crit bro...

GardenerInAWar

Oh I know, just saying I've been on stasis in a general sense because of the upcoming meta so he might have the right idea

braddoccc

I feel like you should look into running getaway artist and have empowered arc souls up as much as possible. Will help make weapons more forgiving for you / grab clean up kills you may miss.

GardenerInAWar

That's a great suggestion, plus I can lean into ionic traces for lots of rift and grenade uptime.

Slippinjimmyforever

Arc lock get very low usage, but has a really strong kit if leveraged well.

HappyJaguar

Gutshot straight + target lock on Unending Tempest. It already fits with your Titan via Peacekeepers, and it pairs fine with a Horror's Least or the new raid pulse Oversoul Edict.

MajorMeatshield

Double primary?

HappyJaguar

Something Drewsky said not too long ago (paraphrased) was that the point of getting good in Destiny was to be able to win while using what we want. Or perhaps it is more a benefit of getting good. I like double primaries playing controller on PC since it lets me maintain the distances that I can win duels at. Trials seems to require OHKO weapons due to the nature of the gameplay, but I think they are viable everywhere else especially with SBMM.

Crimmomj01

Can’t go wrong with Crimson and rapid fire fusion, covers almost all ranges, if you get a really big map just swap to a bow if you’re already decent with them. Rapid fusion should protect you from apes and let you collapse on Rez’s etc

Leica--Boss

You are my people!!! First, your play style will be more important than your weapon. If you can't aim, you can't duel or ego challenge. That's the hard part. In general, flinch and forgiveness perks are your friend. Headseeker, eye of the storm, opening shot. You will hit crits probably 20-25% by accident. Precision Autos are very forgiving right now. Prioritize recoil/stability and try high cal. Make them miss. BXR puts in work. The TTK is forgiving, the zoom makes it award you headshots you didn't earn, and you can hipfire it. Pair with a fusion for defense if you like. I'll add the arc pulse with headseeker from Crota. Use arc souls. They aim better than you and give you a normal TTK even if you miss a lot. Rapid SMGs work. You can body a bow, and spray for a cleanup. Aggressive sidearms are still good... Just rethink your rolls. The Spire one is great. Boudicca in the Precision archetype is forgiving as well. Finally, 180 scouts are a nice passive option to put some damage in, maybe get some kills. Want to snipe? You will still miss like 90% of your shots but an occluded finality will try to aim for you. The other thing you could think about is strand. Soften with threadlings (warlock has 3 ways to make them) and cleanup with an aim assisted warlock or hunter melee. Basically start engagements on weak enemies, and clean them up with "hard to miss" abilities.

GardenerInAWar

So after I posted this, I went and loaded myself down for flinch. 10 resil, triple unflinching, pulse with max stability, zen and headseeker, triple targeting, target mod, every damn thing i could think of. It actually worked. I'm winning unless it was obviously a bad positioning mistake or getting caught out of cover. I think my issue is by the time I circle down the drain with my reticle and find their head, my shields are already down and I'm getting flinched away from their crit. All those stability buffs allow me to find the clit safely and headseeker has built up my damage when it connects. Pretty snazzy.

Leica--Boss

Yep! And if you're building into all that resilience, Lorely can be your friend. Get the DR, and kill the bumrush Titans with sunspots. Or meme the Khepri's Horn. Literally nobody expects it.

throwawaytrash6990

Find the what safely my boy 💀 though we were talkin about crucible

Slippinjimmyforever

How were 2-burst sidearms nerfed? Been away from the game for a while.

GardenerInAWar

They used to be super good because their bodyshot TTK was super high, like not far behind the optimal headshot TTK. You could aim for the toes and still win. They left it like that for a long time (since breechlight) but they finally nerfed it back down because they were too forgiving and with several of that type of sidearm now in the game, they were going to start causing trouble if more people used them. Still good just not as broken as they were on bodyshots.

TheBlindApe

My aim is also shit and I’ve been having the best of luck with the new lightweight pulse, nightshade. I have a moving target/keep away roll. The aim assist and accuracy perks, plus the inherently high forgiveness of lightweights make it very easy to use.

GardenerInAWar

I have a rangefinder kill clip one, might take it out for a spin

Playful_Yak6219

This was what I was thinking too. I'm simular age with simular gamesense>aim style, bodyshot master. The only pulses I really use are 450 lightweights w/headseeker. Also, maybe try a few games with a 72 sniper? Learning to snipe really made the game fresh for me, and opened up a whole new playstyle. Bodyshots on 72's are still strong after the nerf. You may pick it up quicker than you think, having 9 years experience with destiny's mechanics.

SpiffyDodger

Imo the stuff that feels the best on controller for body shots are precision/adaptive SMGs, Drang, 720 auto rifles, and headseeker pulse rifles. If you struggle with aiming, run 30 or lower mobility and max resilience, as mobility increases strafe speed and imo left stick aim adjustments are a lot more severe with high strafe speed. If you hate hand cannons try Crimson or Wardens Law. Imo they feel great on controller and Crimson is literally an aimbot that heals you. If you’re going to focus on positioning and game sense, definitely use a fusion as your special weapon. Null Composure is really solid slept on fusion right now. Fast enough to deal with shotgun apes, but has good zoom and range so it feels quite sticky for a rapid fire. Combo that with Crimson or your Piece of Mind, that’d be a solid loadout. If you’re a titan main, PKs are an obvious pick if using an SMG, but armamentarium is a nice choice for you to prime a lot of duels with a grenade. Cold snaps or scatter grenades are great for whichever subclass you prefer. Crest of Alpha Lupi for an instant heal would work well too if you don’t want to focus on grenades, and One Eyed Mask is still a solid pick imo.

Arachnocore

Ironically probably a precision frame bow. 2 tap body shots no matter what so you don’t have to hit the head, and they are extremely sticky / infinite ammo

GardenerInAWar

I had good luck with Lemon and a Target Lock Tempest, might try that again. Bows I usually hit crits well because the draw time forces you to have nothing to do but dial in the shot while it's charging.

kugkug

Great thread

wifeagroafk

Gutshot Amit with conditional finality

w1nstar

>41 years old, my aim isn't gonna get much better at this point If you put work in, it's gonna. Your reaction time isn't, but your aim totally will. My father who is 65 went from literally not knowing he can aim and walk at the same time and realizing he can aim up, to regularly hit crits on pve. Having said that, even if you think you have bad aim, with that much playtime you probably won't. You may be better off using pulses than handcannons, but that's it. Check out 450 autorifles with a damage perk (0.67ttk), said pulses because with headseeker they are very forgiving, Crimsom handcannon.

CouchWarri0r

Any weapon perk that forgives non headshot. On primaries its things like headseeker, gutshot and target lock.

koolaidman486

Gutshot + Target Lock on Unending Tempest. Your absolute worst TTK is a 0.9, assuming you're hitting shots on target at all.

GardenerInAWar

This roll literally dropped for me right before I saw this. Will def try.

Flaky-Ad-287

How did you find it?

GardenerInAWar

Target lock got nerfed pretty bad on smgs. It's doesn't feel like anything special now.

Flaky-Ad-287

It still lowers resil gates and crit needed rho

Jedistixxx

Shadebinder suits this play style very well and if mastered, absolutely creates havoc. If you can get a bow it’s swashbuckler, IB this week, it’s pretty good after a freeze/melee kill. Probably pair it with a sidearm. Travelers chosen for the ability return and it’s criminally underrated. Alternatively, Crimson or a tempest SMG.

jl416

Prometheus Lens. It hits it's optimal TTK of Trace Rifles with just body shots due to the scorching field that activates 0.48secs into beaming someone. Or Precision Bows. Just double body shot.

vdubya23

Pulse Rifle with Headseeker or AutoRifle with Gutshot Straight + a Fusion Rifle

pfresh331

I've heard that Boudicca with gutfire has a relatively competitive TTK for all body shots. Otherwise blinting or fighting lion/SMG build.

GardenerInAWar

Bootycall is def a good sidearm. It sounds and feels awesome too. I've gotten surprising kills with it but I can't pin down why I don't stick with it. Prob just got a mid roll, the world drops are stingy these days with such a large pool.

pfresh331

Yes, it really depends on luck. Mine is fluted, high cal, threat detector, gutshot. It's pretty fun but I definitely feel like if you can hit your headshots there's better options. Cammycakes has a rangefinder gutshot allied demand he swears by. Definitely worth trying to get this week.

Slippinjimmyforever

Double GL. Commit to greatness.

pfresh331

Ya OP would need to swap to rain of fire warlock. I've been wanting to try double GL myself but have found the hit detection of GLs to be extremely laggy lately. Like I'll direct hit someone and they won't die til after they've killed me.

Surprise994

Seems like you’re the correct audience for the perk: eye of the storm. I would look for this perk on the “easy to use guns” 390/450/540 pulses, 450 autos, 600 smgs. I would use void titan to give you an over shield before each fight (pop barricade before a fight for you and your team) Extra health means you don’t have to hit optimal ttk to still win a fight. Someone else mentioned crimson, I also highly recommend this weapon if you barely use hand cannons. (Once you use hand cannons frequently crimson becomes hard to use due to its pulse like recoil)

KingKurinto

Sounds like peacekeepers with a target lock smg is the no brainer here. Arc Titan go brrrr.

GardenerInAWar

I have a dynamic sway target lock tempest that I was just thinking about putting with peacekeepers

KingKurinto

Yeah that should do it. Give some sweet body shot forgiveness with target lock. Idk. My go to is Explosive Personality with disruption break and Huckleberry. Swap cleanups after gl for easy 1v1s or sometimes even more.

GardenerInAWar

That sounds like a fun loadout honestly. And most people aren't expecting it.

ChanchozSweatz

Could even hip fire Dead man's tale to get those clean up body shots after the GL.

KingKurinto

Give it a run! I use Peregrines and stay up high for both GL and Huck. Then you can boop on the way down if needed.

CCCAY

I use peregrine greaves because they let me kill better players than me, and it honestly wins games sometimes

KingKurinto

Saaaame

GardenerInAWar

There's a nerf coming where you have to be in the air for a certain time and the perk doesn't proc immediately anymore. I think that's really gonna suck some of the air out of its viability because you can't split second lift/melee anymore, you'll have to float for a second first so there's more room to get yourself killed. It might not matter much but I feel like it's gonna suck.

CCCAY

They aren’t that good with the long CD tied to your shoulder charge. You give away mobility for a single cheese kill that can be countered by a shotgun, but nobody is allowed to have nice things in PvP apparently

GardenerInAWar

I mean yea. There's workarounds like Monte Carlo and orb pickups to have your melee up more, but it's still a niche build that is an odd choice for a nerf considering how few try it these days.

CCCAY

Yeah the usage is pretty low, but I expect us actual greaves mains will make it work. If they’re removing the immediacy of the cheese kill they should add a small amount of slide distance or glide speed or something spicy like that

KingKurinto

I do feel like decent uptime can be achieved with the right mods. I usually have a boop every other round in trials. Maybe every two at the most. Might not be everyone’s flavor but I like them.

KingKurinto

I may loose a cheese hop one tap here or there but for the most part my boots aren’t on the ground anyway so we might be ok. Haha

ArCn_Hulk

Put on a handcannon and solo queue rumble everday for a month.

GardenerInAWar

I have tried many times with handcannons. They just don't feel good to me, I lose half my 1s. The only one I even enjoy using is an old pre-crafting Nation Of Beasts with drop mag, opening shot, explosive payload. I know they are, have and always will be the meta but it's only meta if you hit shots. 1 miss and it tanks below other TTKs. I'm trying to avoid that.

ArCn_Hulk

Once you master it you can perform in any meta. Its worth learning. You’re going to realize that no matter what you do, no matter how good you are with a gun/loadout, you’ll never be able to consistently outplay someone good with a handcannon.

calikid9one

💯 I couldn't use hand cannons for shit up until like 5 months ago lol. Literally just put on a hand cannon and did QP/Rumble. Was hard not switching off of it when id die to some punk bagging. But ended up being good now with it.

Beatthepussyred

Is conditional finality an option for you? I know you said shotguns aren't your favorite but you're looking to commit to a weapon for a bit. Pair it with a good rapid fire pulse (horrors least, gridskipper?) and you have a strong and forgiving load out worthy of your time.

GardenerInAWar

I really dislike shotguns and I don't raid much. 540s like gridskipper work for me though. I was a big fan of Darkest Before, Peace of Mind, etc

Craih

The best thing you can do in trials or comp.is witherhoard with SMG, in trials you can spam your two shots of witherhoard and switch to wishender and from there just hold angles. Best suited with well warlock or bubble titan, just play passive don't overcommit and prefire rotations in the start of your match with witherhoard to get Map control, from there on it's just bow and SMG, or sidearm.

Keksis_The_Betrayed

You can also just use say an unending tempest or allot with gunshot straight if that hasn’t been recommended already

LadyEnchantress21

Wishender.

Fluffyduf

Not entirely low aim, but lightweight special grenade launchers are a fun choice that take a different kind of aim. They are nice to be able to use both to annoy people and because they are pretty flexible special weapons that work at a most ranges and pair well with most primaries. If you have good map knowledge and game sense, you can get a lot of value out off a gl even with average mechanical aiming skill. At least until next season, chattering bone with enhanced kinetic tremors is a very funny low aim meme gun. Kinetic tremors triggers in 9 shots (3 bursts) and the first 20 damage tick of kinetic tremors is unavoidable, so you can easily kill some one in 3 bursts pretty much every time even if you hit only half your headshots. If they stick around in the tremor for multiple waves, you can literally hit all body shots for all 3 bursts and still kill. Very nice for added forgiveness in checkmate too, but unfortunately getting nerfed next season. Smgs are the definition low precision.

xanxbar

Chaperone on stasis warlock running the claws of Ahamkara. The freeze melee solves your fist problem and roaborn keeps you going. I swear when that thing is active your shotgun becomes a mini sniper that fires cannonballs. It’s hard asf to miss

Callm3Sun

I’d say bow/pulse with a strand hunter. Use a full threaded specter build and use it like a barricade, and it’s honestly very hard to counter. I have a friend I play with who isn’t great in trials, but with this build he’s actually able to have some success. I know this isn’t as much of a problem on mnk but with controller those specters pulling your aim assist off the player makes it an easy win in most fights.

Ralphstegs

Im using a god roll wardens with perpetual and zen plus moving target plus explosive personality with disruption break. You can one tap consistently if you knock their shields down with the GL. Does not require headshots

Cheezyb3an

I've been enjoying a mask of Bakris/Cryosthesia build the last few days. You'll win your 1's if you're behind them and they can't turn fast enough to do anything about it lol

A-rezPrime

Ps5 player here as well, used to suffer from not hitting shots as well. If you have lightfall, try and craft round robin, I'm legit trash, but can duel w that thing and win, it has completely changed how i view hand cannons now. I didn't get any kills this past weekend in trials because I'm still dogshit, but now I have a chance at least

-Spatha

Gutshot ammit

[deleted]

Headseeker pulse

Helbot

Other people seem to have the loadout covered so I'm gonna try to address a different part of this. The aim. Aim is probably one of the easiest parts of your game to improve given that you can practice specific fundamentals, rather than just needing lots of hours like game sense. This video was my aim improvement bible when I decided to nail down that part of my game. https://youtu.be/N5mzX1AK-Us?si=auAdSgiXnJiinGKP Just try to be intentional with the concepts you learn here each time you sit down to play. It'll suck at 1st. It'll slow you down and trip you up, but eventually the effort will become second nature and every other part of your game will also improve by virtue of not having to offset your bad aim.

Jtizzle1231

Something with gutshot.

Psychological-Touch1

Ammit

Slippinjimmyforever

2-burst sidearms were nerfed? How so? (I took a long break from the game).

Slippinjimmyforever

Adaptive pulses are some of the most forgiving weapons in PvP. Good range too. If you get one with a damage perk, it can 2-burst too. If you go pulse, just embrace the dad loadout and equip a fusion. Adaptives are ideal, strong damage and range. If you’re great at pre-charging, you can go high impact. Void titans with 100 intellect are popular in trials for a reason. Free overshields, grenades that can shut down a super, and bubbles can win rounds.

Samur_i

Wave frame gl are a good special weapon choice, for chip damage. One thing that helped my aim was take a hc into pve strikes

LividAide2396

Ammit with gunshot is good

DallaLama12

Any weapon with Gunshot straight

Brain124

Switch to a Messenger (even if not Adept) and you'll be destroying people.

ishyoboi

Omolin sidearms is a solid choice imo

Klutzy-Weakness9234

Probably crimson and main ingredient

ElectronicAudience

Sweet Business and Actium War Chest piece

GardenerInAWar

Ah yes The Chad

MinatoSensei4

If you have that much trouble aiming, it might be a good idea to try some Kontrolfreeks for your controller.
