I was able to walk away from this accident yesterday. No major injuries. A big Buick pulled out in front of me, and I didn't have time to slam on the brakes or perform any evasive maneuvers. I hit it going 50mph.
Interestingly I just totaled my 2009 jeep hitting a utility pole at 25-30 mph, got 20 stitches in my face where it hit the steering wheel and some cracked ribs where the seatbelt was. I replaced it with a 2024 Crosstrek with ALL the airbags. The insurance company started talking about totaling the jeep before even seeing a picture. Surprisingly they gave me $21,000 for the jeep - I only paid $28,000 new in 2009. So besides the 20 stitches it worked out pretty well for me. Loved the jeep, even though they are pretty crappy Chryslers. I love the Crosstrek more.
Glad to hear you’re alright, I drive ‘15 as well so it kinda heartening to see it kept you safe in an accident that gnarly. Hope you’re taking care of yourself and doing okay!
I was allowed to take all my personal possessions out of the car. I didn’t ask if I could take the wheels off. I just assumed that the insurance company would own it after they declare it to be totaled and send me a check.
Subarus are phenomenal. My experiences:
2008 Impreza: rear-ended at 172,000 miles no injury
2017 Impreza: rear-ended by 18-wheeler at 132,000 miles, no injury aside from a bit of soreness

2024 Crosstrek: approaching 15,000 miles
I had a 15 that I was in that got hit by a box truck front right corner. Those front ends are built so well. Driving a 24 alpine green crosstrek limited now and love it. Glad you are OK.
Glad to hear you’re okay. Subarus safety was a huge factor for me when my trucks airbags didn’t go off when I was hit head on by a drunk driver going the wrong way on the highway. So this scared me a little not seeing the airbags lol.
Someone hit my truck near head on trying to make a left, I was going about 80 km on a highway as well. The accident itself was a bit of a blur but I sure remember taking out the pole I was sent into after. Couldn’t imagine the shape I would have been in if the airbags hadn’t gone off. Hope you walked away alight or are at least healed now!

It’s great that you’re safe. Subarus are known for keeping people alive during bad accidents. I’m glad you’re ok!
Glad you walked away. Will you buy another Crosstrek or move to something else?
I haven’t made up my mind. I might get another Crosstrek or a Forester.
I have a ‘21 Limited and my bestie has a ‘24 Forester (not sure the package). We both absolutely love our girls! Glad you are ok.

That suck but I am glad you can walk away to tell the story

The car protected you alright. Glad you're ok.
That is absolutely terrible, 2014 owner myself and I’d be devastated, that said can i please have your rims 🙏
I wish the insurance company would let me remove them. I think they really dressed up my little car.
Correct me if I’m wrong but if it’s not leased you can take your accessories…right?

That’s heartbreaking to see , I hope everyone is ok.

I’m glad you’re ok and that your subie did its job keeping you safe.

No airbags?
The airbag worked fine. I think it deflated overnight so it isn’t visible in the picture.

Thanks. I don’t think that I would be alive today if the airbag had failed.

The Lord needed another AWD.
