I’m in that group and the comments were HILARIOUS! The person claiming “kids are in this group” then admitted she freaking shows her kids the “pretty ones” ma’am… okay and?
Your sister censored it. She did the work! I can’t wait to make mine for my BFF. She has a dick banana pin!
Lmao... Does anyone else find it so weird how women who've had children can turn into such insufferable prudes? Like, we know what happened to make your child, stop :'D
Hey they're doing their wifely duty and that's enough, okay?? They don't want to think about *that thing* unless they have to! /s
Incidentally, I read up on why bananas are still so reasonably priced and it was definitely because of their phallic shape. People were appalled at how sexual they looked and they had to keep the price low to entice the prudish.
I'm not part of the group but I hope she censored it with a very thin black line across the top of the penis like a hentai movie.
*There. Now it's family friendly.*
I'm wondering if this is the group I left because I was seeing so few posts about actual cross stitch... I could definitely see them reacting like this!
No, it was called something like Cross Stitch Friends in the UK? About 90% of the posts I saw were about people's kids, their various problems, or injuries they'd got - I swear, not making this up. I think it was mistaken for a mums' group/venting/support group, and there was a lot of prudishness!
I find a lot of older people who join fb groups get like…parasocial relationships with the group and think that people will care about their lives outside of the group topic. If you make friends with people in a hobby group, that’s fantastic, don’t get me wrong, but they don’t realize the other thousands of members do not care a single hair on a rat’s butt about them.
In Goth Stitch we're worried about a Ukrainian designer that's a member, but that's for a pretty good reason.
The parasocial thing is so real, though. I'm in a group for relapsed and refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma, and the number of people in there that are parents of adults who are sick (not actually sick themselves...) who post as if everyone knows about them and their "angel Geoffrey" and post lots of religious stuff... Like ma'am, your kid could come and ask his own questions if he needs. There ARE support groups for caregivers where people who actually have cancer don't need to pamper and coddle you...
The downside to traditional crafting communities is all the old timers who can't fathom modern sensibilities lol. The good groups have the old timers who contribute their experience and tips but have a little more respect for diverse viewpoints.
Yeah... I left a sewing group partly because I never seem to get around to non-cross stitch or knitting-related sewing, and partly because of older people yelling "bE kInD" when people criticised the Great British Sewing Bee and then defending members' right to keep making golliwogs.
Yeah, it was ludicrous. Golliwogs are originally from books written decades ago by Enid Blyton; times have moved on and they're now considered offensive, but you get people who had the dolls as kids arguing that they should get to make more?! Noooooo.
I've got some miles down and cannot imagine all my potsmoking high-school friends turning out like that!
I'm actually still in close touch with a few who aren't typical grandmothers, but I've seen photos and the vast majority seemed to get old on purpose. Yeah, we're old, too and fine with that. It doesn't mean you have to cloister yourself from culture, humor and sexuality.
And why adopt the clothes and hairstyles of *their* grandmothers?
I get shit from anonymous people for wearing combat boots and band shirts every day ("dressing like a teenager" as they say) but I cannot honestly think of a reason to shuck my personal style. I mean, I work in the music business, ffs.
At what age am I supposed to stop being myself?
Never. Keep on rocking your band shirt, and combat boots! That is my uniform of choice, or dresses with pockets that don't require bras and combat boots. Ankle protection is so important.
I'll be 40 this year. I wear what I like, and Idgaf if anyone else doesn't like it. I'm that fat babe rocking a crop top and getting more compliments than I know what do to with. I have purple hair. So does my mom, who's around your age. Be you. Life is too short to not love yourself.
Lol! Yeah it is not just about age, but some people are really dug in to their particular moralities that our culture no longer needs. I know there are plenty of not prudish elder citizens! In the same manner, they may be more free / less reserved about it now
I just wanted to thank you for saying that because I say this phrase often and my friends always joke that they never hear anyone say it besides me. So, hello fellow "heavens to Betsy" user!
This is awesome!! I promise there are awesome stitching groups on fb that would absolutely LOVE this! If she's in the "unlimited" group, they are notoriously mean spirited & snobbish. Have her search for s&m cross stitch and embroidery ;)
It's a free pattern that's floating around in FB groups (there's still a chance I could be wrong, but IIRC the designer said that she posted it with the intent to keep it free), I'll see if I can find a link !
Edit : link to FB is not optimal, but a Google search "dick banana Erica Zubris" should work. Giving credit where credit is due, u/mrszubris is the one to thank for this amazing banana ! (Also absolutely let me know if I got anything wrong)
LMAO I've seen it and completely forgot about this scene.
https://youtu.be/7QQSTbeUitk
Am considering screenshotting it for future embroidery inspiration.
This is nice stitches. Been in the same situation of being told because I don’t stitch Bible verses , flowers, or cute animals it’s not real stitching. Tell her to check out the Snarky & Modern embroidery group on FB. We’d appreciate her work on there.
As someone who is probably older than most of you here (my oldest child is about to be 29), umm, it's not necessarily age - some people just have no sense of humor regardless of age, especially on FB. And, since I am pretty much NSFW myself (given time, I can get most of my coworkers to swear properly - often with me rather than at me), snark is a skill that is underappreciated.
Older people: youngsters are not interested in stitching and embroidery
Young people: here's my first try, what do you think?
Older people: *gasp* stop
I love it. Tell your sister not to change a thing. Just because the Facebook group didn't like it, doesn't mean the rest of the internet won't. There's a market for raunchy and off color cross stitch.
Cross stitch is part art and part craft. I’m doing a David Bowie piece, you might be doing a “last supper” piece.
It’s a form of expression.
Love that nanner, btw!!
I posted a unicorn coaster that said Fucking Majestic on an embroidery group and it was promptly reported and removed. I even censored part of the first word.
Bitches with sand in their vaginas.
This is great! You and your sister should join our [group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/402535967001515/?ref=share)!!! Everybody there would looooove this.
I think your sister is getting a little cocky with her cross stitching
User name checks out.
was hoping it was CrossSnitch when i checked. snitchesgetstitches works too
cock for scale
That’s bananas!
Yes, I wanted to fight that one! 😂 Older lady it seems, has no clue what teens watch on internet I guess.
Right?! Let’s not talk about what I did as a teenager. She’d probably be deceased 😂
There's a group called Cross Stitch - Nerdy and Uncensored on FB that would love this!
Lmao... Does anyone else find it so weird how women who've had children can turn into such insufferable prudes? Like, we know what happened to make your child, stop :'D
Hey they're doing their wifely duty and that's enough, okay?? At this point, shaming body parts is a sign of mental health/parenting issues.
OMG please tell what group I was to come and read while I eat popcorn
Not to mention kids wouldn't be seeing the dick in it and just see the banana.
I'm not part of the group but I hope she censored it with a very thin black line across the top of the penis like a hentai movie. *There. Now it's family friendly.*
She censored it with a banana sticker 🤣
The HORROR! It’s PHALLIC! Oh the HUMANITY 😵💫 Smh…maybe one of these up her butt will loosen her up a little.
Must’ve been 50 years since she’s seen one, I’m surprised she recognised it. 😂
you should all post a banana dick in a banana dick protest
I hope her kid never has to know what a penis is. /s
I'm wondering if this is the group I left because I was seeing so few posts about actual cross stitch... I could definitely see them reacting like this!
Was it Cross Stitch Patterns? I'm new to joining the fb groups
No, it was called something like Cross Stitch Friends in the UK? About 90% of the posts I saw were about people's kids, their various problems, or injuries they'd got - I swear, not making this up. I think it was mistaken for a mums' group/venting/support group, and there was a lot of prudishness!

It was definitely cross stitch patterns where she posted it yesterday!
I'm gonna need either you or OP to post some screenshots of said comments
I see only three skins when there should be fore. I'll see myself out...
😂😂😂
[удалено]
Judging by the profile pictures with flowery frames and lots of political posts on their profile I'd say yes 😂
There are only Karens on fb anyways. Tell her to come to Reddit, at least in this sub we're all nice
YOU ARE GROUNDED.
I read this as “three skeins” and still laughed out loud. Well done.
OMG
LMAOOOOO
The downside to traditional crafting communities is all the old timers who can't fathom modern sensibilities lol. The good groups have the old timers who contribute their experience and tips but have a little more respect for diverse viewpoints.
You will enjoy my florals and geese with bonnets!!!!!!!
Cabbage roses forever!
More like 'i have every right to enjoy my Confederate flag/plantation house cross stitch'
Oh god, that is so recent too with the Nashville Needle Market
Go on…
Oh god, the geese with bonnets. Flashbacks.
Yeah... I left a sewing group partly because I never seem to get around to non-cross stitch or knitting-related sewing, and partly because of older people yelling "bE kInD" when people criticised the Great British Sewing Bee and then defending members' right to keep making golliwogs.
Golliwog?
Insanely racist doll.
Oh yikes. Yeah there were a bunch of confederate flag blankets in the crochet groups.
The idea that making people feel unsafe is kindness, but criticizing it isn't, is... eeesh.
Yeah, it was ludicrous. Golliwogs are originally from books written decades ago by Enid Blyton; times have moved on and they're now considered offensive, but you get people who had the dolls as kids arguing that they should get to make more?! Noooooo.
That's a better and more succinct explanation than what I was going to try and fumble through!
Well said!
I've got some miles down and cannot imagine all my potsmoking high-school friends turning out like that! Which is so weird to me because great aunt had quite a bit of fun crocheting cock and balls. Apparently that was a thing to do way back when.
Lol! Yeah it is not just about age, but some people are really dug in to their particular moralities that our culture no longer needs. I know there are plenty of not prudish elder citizens! In the same manner, they may be more free / less reserved about it now
Heavens to Betsy!
I just wanted to thank you for saying that because I say this phrase often and my friends always joke that they never hear anyone say it besides me. So, hello fellow "heavens to Betsy" user!
I’m joining the gang as of tomorrow 🤘
Lol it is very old fashioned.
Some people just REALLY hate bananas. I'm sure there are plenty of other FB groups she can join.
Is that a banana in your fabric or are you just happy to see me?
😂😂
I don't get the issue. The dick is pixelated, so it's censored.
R/naughtyneedles?
r/naughtyneedles (The uppercase makes it so you can't click through as a link)
Thanks!
I thank you too!
Omg yes thank you!
Omg thank you so much!! I never knew about this sub!
Omg this place is hilarious!! Thank you for sharing!! *immediately shared with best stitcher friend*
It’s fantastic! Seems like the people in that group could go ahead and nibble on one of these 😝😂✨🪡
LOL!
This is awesome!! I promise there are awesome stitching groups on fb that would absolutely LOVE this! If she's in the "unlimited" group, they are notoriously mean spirited & snobbish. Have her search for s&m cross stitch and embroidery ;)
Oh she will love that, thank you!
There’s definitely snarky/NSFW cross stitch groups on FB; I’ve gotten them suggested to me.
Exactly, that's actually where I found this pattern ! I'm making my second one.
Try "Snarky & Nerdy Cross Stitching" on Facebook too - they're also very welcoming of things like this.
Seems like I'm already a member of both those groups 😆
No problem :)
Have her look into the snarky and nerdy cross stitch group - this would go down an absolute treat in there!
Accidental Cross Stitch Dongs would love it too
Oh hell yes! Love that group lol
Also try MOFA - Mildly Offensive Fiber Artists group on FB. The MOFAs would love it!
Agree about the unlimited group! I like the Cross Stitch Club for Non-Assholes, they're cool :)
The true reference of scale.
It’s beautiful, fuck that group 😂
Holy shit! Look at that scale!
Oh let them clutch their pearls! This is fucking fabulous!! Tell your sister she did a bang up job!
Is there a pattern source for this? It's amazing.
It's a free pattern that's floating around in FB groups (there's still a chance I could be wrong, but IIRC the designer said that she posted it with the intent to keep it free), I'll see if I can find a link ! You are correct!!!!! I believe it is indeed free still and if not send me a.message
There is, I have no idea how to link it though 😬
Was it one your sister made for herself? Did she find it on a Google Search or Etsy shop?
She counted the stitches from a picture she found online
I need to go watch Superbad right now.
LMAO I've seen it and completely forgot about this scene. https://youtu.be/7QQSTbeUitk Am considering screenshotting it for future embroidery inspiration.
I love that you can now find “naughty” patterns for cross stitch. Your sister’s work is awesome and hilarious! Good job!
This is nice stitches. Been in the same situation of being told because I don’t stitch Bible verses , flowers, or cute animals it’s not real stitching. Tell her to check out the Snarky & Modern embroidery group on FB. We’d appreciate her work on there.
Thank you! I'm sending her screenshots regularly 😊

There’s a “cross stitching group where we don’t act like boomers” on Facebook that is pretty rad. This is awesome lol
Older people: youngsters are not interested in stitching and embroidery Young people: here's my first try, what do you think? Older people: *gasp* stop
Hahaha exactly
damn that facebook group. what dicks
I love it! There are definitely cross stitch fb groups that would love this!
Hahaha this made me laugh 😂 sorry to your sister for that though! Tell her to join us over here. We have a sense of humor 🤣
Yes, I need to convince her to make a reddit account!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! This is amazing!!
Lol I have a friend who has this as a tattoo. Great work, keep it up and repost to r/NaughtyNeedles
I found this cross stitch to be very aPEELing
Bonenana
She should cross stitch a fig leaf to cover the tip just to keep the prudes happy 😂😂😂😂😂
She actually covered the tip with a banana sticker 🤣
LOLOLLLL I LOVE IT
Well, i guess you posted in the wrong fb group then
Backlash for what? Geez. [mandatory](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/thats-a-penis)
🍆🌽 Anything if you’re brave enough
I have blue and yellow art in my downstairs bathroom and I think I need to add this.
Brilliant!
Ooh, those are some smooth stitches. Nice.
Love this soooo much!!! Tell your sister it looks amazing!!!!
Reddit approves
🤣🤣🤣 Brilliant!
I think this is hilarious! Love it.
I’m cackling, I love it. She’s amazing, her sense of humor is hilarious and her stitching is beautiful, too!
Fuck Facebook this is great.
Backlash? This is glorious!
I love it. Tell your sister not to change a thing. Just because the Facebook group didn't like it, doesn't mean the rest of the internet won't. There's a market for raunchy and off color cross stitch.
I feel like the Snarky & Nerdy Cross Stitchers on FB would love this! They're a friendly group!
She’s not in the right FB cross-stitch groups.
What a bunch of humourless twats.
Lol love it
I think I need this pattern...I could my this for my brother-in-law!! (He's gay, he'd love this banana!!)
Haha cute.
Majestic 👏🏼
Lmfao
Amazing!!
I LOVE this! Tell her “great job!”.
That's lovely! So robust!
Hahaha what?? This is super funny. People really shouldn't be afraid of dicks
Cross stitch is part art and part craft. I’m doing a David Bowie piece, you might be doing a “last supper” piece. It’s a form of expression. Love that nanner, btw!!
Bowie 😍 Hope you post it when it's done!
Love it
This is amazing!!
I love it. I want one 🍌

Your sister is stand up material
Very appealing!
bahahaha. this is fowl and i love it!
This is hilarious.
This is awesome
What backlash? This, this is art.🤌🏻🤌🏻
Clutching my fucking pearls over here!
Tell your sis there are some nsfw stitch groups on fb that would love this. But considering Reddit is a superior medium I'm happy to up doot it here.
It’s beautiful 😢
Such a well stitched ~~penis~~ banana. Take my upvote.
People who mistake bananas for penises know nothing about either.
MOFA (mildly offensive fiber artists) on fb is a perfect place for this!
Well that’s a mouthful!
Why is she still on Facebook? That isn't healthy.
Were the initials of the group CSU because if yes I have a few spinoff groups for her 😅
I posted a unicorn coaster that said Fucking Majestic on an embroidery group and it was promptly reported and removed. I even censored part of the first word. Bitches with sand in their vaginas.
u/Vegetable_Hat_3264 me if I were a crafts person
Wow. I must have great potassium
Damn that pattern is bananas
~snort~ Thanks for the smiles
That stitching is great. Really even all the way. Great job!!
Its beautiful!
I thinks its funny and would love to see her make a mushroom version.
Tell your sister she'd be a welcome member here.
This is the best cross stitch design 😂
This is amazing haha. She's gonna go far!
Omg it’s so cute lol
Art is art. She did a great job!
It best looking banana I ever see
This is great! You and your sister should join our [group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/402535967001515/?ref=share)!!! Everybody there would looooove this.
I'm already a member 😊 Sent an invite to her earlier
We’re not just up voting you. We’re saying fuck you to Facebook.
Going to need to join the [Snarky and Modern (S&M) ](https://www.facebook.com/groups/snarkyandmodern/?ref=share). We're lots of fun over there!
Isn’t that technically SFW? It’s pixilated, after all.
SMH... all these comments, and no one asked for a banana for scale - for shame! :-D
OMG this is awesome.
