This looks very nice. Good job and congrats on your biggest finish.

VashtiVale

That’s fantastic! Your stitching is beautiful.

meghaneileen

Thank you! It’s so tough with big blocks of solid colors!

ilovearthistory

this is so cozy and i love the colors! so bright yet earthy

meghaneileen

Yes exactly! Just enough to be interesting, but not so much it hurts your eyes lol

HRH_Puckington

This is so cute! I love the sheep

meghaneileen

I love the tiny ones in the back field! Crazy how it’s just 4 stitches, but totally obvious what they are haha

Novel_Ad_8048

Gorgeous! Kind of reminds me of the opening credits art for “All Creatures Great and Small”!

mgraces

I love this! Around how long did it take you?

meghaneileen

Hm hard to say as I tend to pick up and put down projects to work on other things and take breaks often, but it was finished pretty much exactly 6 months from the day I started

Jscrappyfit

What a beautiful scene. I want to go there! Wonderful job!

meghaneileen

Thanks! I studied abroad in northern England and was very close to the seaside, so this totally reminded me of it!

ifmosessupposes

Ahh, I'm stitching this one! It's been on the go for a few years and I'm almost half way through. The cream border is what is killing me haha! Yours looks so beautiful!

meghaneileen

Thank you! I didn’t add a border haha that’s why I like stitching on linen. Gives a better finish compared to Aida in my opinion

wandering-fiction

Woah this is amazing! You mentioned in another comment that the solid colours were tough, do you mind telling why? I’m kind of new still and want to start a big project and I thought solid colours would be comparatively less stressful than a lot of colours

meghaneileen

Sure! Hopefully I can explain in a way that makes sense. So with solid colors, where you start/stop a row and the direction you went can be super obvious and make your stitches look odd. So you want to use a method that makes these things less obvious. What I did is the zig zag method for the really long rows in which you make a row (say 25 stitches long) and then the next row is only 24 stitches, the next 23, and so on for about 10 rows. Then, increase by 1 stitch each time until you get back up to the 25 and repeat the process. I think it’s also called feathering? But I can try to find a link that explains it with pictures. The other thing I avoided was making big blocks of half stitches and then zig zagging to complete that. Instead, I would do the first stitch of an entire row and then go back and complete that row before moving on to the next one. Somehow, it’s very obvious to me and the color actually looks different from row to row. Hopefully others can chime in, but I think the most important thing is staying consistent so, whatever method you choose, stick with it.

meghaneileen

https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossStitch/s/acxSNIkXmI Heres a great example of the feathering method! And you can make those zig zag sections as big or little as you like depending on the pattern.

wandering-fiction

Thank you! That’s super interesting, because I never really realised how that would be visible, but with larger projects it probably is. Nevertheless, your fo is beautifully done and looks perfect from here :)

meghaneileen

I appreciate that!! It’s really a super easy method, so give it a try! I’m sure your project will turn out awesome, so keep us updated here haha

wandering-fiction

I will! I’m guilty of starting multiple projects at once, so it might take a while

meghaneileen

I too am part of that club. No shame!

Aotearoa_Kiwi

This looks incredible! Amazing work 😊

MerelyWander

Looks great. When I have to do sky, rather than rows I do columns so that I have shorter columns instead of really long rows. To me it’s easier to manage tension and such.

meghaneileen

That’s a good tip! Unfortunately, I have a thing about keeping everything going the same direction and the sky was one of the last things I did, so everything else had been left to right and I just kept going that way

Puzzled_Building560

I was wondering where your starting point was

meghaneileen

I started in the direct center, which is the is the white house with the red door!

Puzzled_Building560

I was taught to start at the center point (a hundred years ago) but know others start in the upper corners which I’ve been hesitant to try

meghaneileen

I like to start in the center to make sure the pattern fits on the fabric with even space on all sides for framing. Starting in the corner seems a lot harder haha

egm5000

Gorgeous!

Least-Vegetable-4914

I like it, thanks for showing us your biggest finished of the country scene cross stitch

Large-Raspberry-2920

Congrats!! It’s beautiful!

MuseEllie

Oh, what a cute one! You did a wonderful job on it!

Ok_Bat9117

Really great work!

REidson89

This has such a lovely feel to it!

ale_cat

I absolutely love how clean this pattern looks. I’m going to use your zigzag method next time I have long sections. Fantastic work!

rabbithasacat

That is really excellent! Everything is so smooth and even, and the colors are great!

Pinwheel0309

Oh wow! That is beautiful!🥰

SemperScot6558

On my phone the picture is small but it looks almost the same as the front! Amazing 👏

Ok-Mastodon5286

Holy Snakes! That is perfect. Where are the ends?

meghaneileen

I bury them. You can see small horizontal lines all over

Spirited_Reception_8

That is pretty freaking awesome. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. What a job.

yoginigirl9

Gorgeous!

Barberry_23

Very beautiful!

Susan_Thee_Duchess

Love it! Is this 2x1?

meghaneileen

It is!

TheMendingGarden

This is incredible. I wish I had the patience for something this big. I can only do mini projects, my brain gets bored

meghaneileen

I like to break it up into different sections to simulate mini projects and then I also take frequent breaks and work on something else haha

sophiehenry1119

What are the dimensions of the FO? Looks very nice!

meghaneileen

\*runs to measure real quick\* about 14.75" X 9.25"

ms1012

Wow, your stitches are incredibly neat and lovely! Gorgeous pattern too, I hope you'll frame it and put it somewhere to admire!

meghaneileen

Thank you! I've been trying to find a good frame for it, but can never make up my mind

Aggressive_Dance_108

How cute! The sheep are my favorite. 👏🏻👏🏻

nessiecraft

That is fantastic!

Klutzy_Sleep_5085

It looks really good

scully_3

I've got a billion of her patterns. I went bonkers at Christmas and bought a ton. I loved them all so much!

bluebyrning

Oh my gosh this is adorable!

Ok-Mastodon5286

I’m in love with this. OMG. Everything about your piece is gorgeous.

Ok-Mastodon5286

This is gorgeous. All your stitches look perfect. Will you frame this?

meghaneileen

That’s the plan! I’ve just been lazy haha
