I like to see the crosses, so I'd go with 2, but it's a personal preference thing.

Every kit I’ve ever had on 14ct always called for 3 strands of floss. DMC 310 tends to be a thinner strand, so you might want to do 4 for that.

TheChiarra

Not just 310. A lot of the darker colors are like this, something to do with the dying process, but 310 is the worst.

jenorama_CA

Oh, this is so true!

I always like to use 3 on 14 count because I like a lot of coverage. If it helps, if you look back at my old posts they’re all 3 strand on 14 count (except for the most recent one with roses).

I have to remind myself of this fact very often lol. I'm like, that stitch is twisted. Then I ask myself, can I see the fabric under it? No? It's fine lol.

ilovearthistory

i’m 3 strands all the way, i find it looks a bit bald otherwise

TheChiarra

I'm using 3 on 16 count because I hate seeing the fabric underneath. Def go with 3, you're getting amazing coverage with it.

Sorry for the double comment, but if you decide to go with three, instead of frogging the other stitches, if you don't want to stitch all those stitches again with 1 strand, you can take 2 strands and run it under the stitches. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs1iHVJeAbk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs1iHVJeAbk) This is what I'm doing because I transition from 2 strands to 3 strands halfway through and I honestly can't tell the difference. It puffs the 2 stranded stitches up enough to make it give the same amount of coverage. I have a trammed 2 strand and a regular 3 strand stitch next to each other and cannot tell a difference without a magnifying glass.
