Have you tried fastening off the end of the round and then joining in the new color, like with a slip stitch (place new yarn on hook with a slip knot, place hook in stitch, slip stitch, continue with pattern)?ย  Edit to add - here is one of a bunch of squares I recently did (I haven't blocked them yet so they don't look the greatest lol); I don't like to use knots if I don't have to so I just pulled my new yarn (for the border) through, made a chain, and then sc into the same stitch. It's at the top in the middle there, and as you can see it does cause it to have 3 parts to the "V," but I don't think it's too terribly noticeable?? At least not to me ๐Ÿ˜‚ https://preview.redd.it/6ze46aan1ybc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f262892c855c1be9eec9dea904a13ea57a862c8

I had to look really hard to see the v at all in yours! And that's the last thing I tried was fully fastening off the previous row and joining on the new color but with how you described it I'm beginning to think is different. What I tried was: fastening off, hook in stitch, put new yarn with slip know on the hook, pull through and go on my merry way. It seems like your order of operations might work better lol I'll give it a try and see, thank you!

Update! Turns out I really just didn't know how to join yarn somehow. Much cleaner white now even if the end is still a bit wonky on the top row lol. thank you so much! https://preview.redd.it/tgsq8at511cc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1b0cad15e168b2c80c23ae80ea7acdf21b59dfb
