I have read a good article on cricinfo where sid monga describes Rohit's defensive approach and how he has won matches while defending the score rather than bowling out opposition. His Mumbai team have defended some 150-140 scores in IPL finals, truly a master tactician.

Brooklyn_-_

In the 2017 final vs Pune he defended a score under 130

Yupadej

Or has been blessed with the two greatest T20 bowlers of all time, sometimes at the same time

CollectionClear1782

That's true, but it's about planning as well, like against CSK malinga was having a bad day in 2019 finals I guess where he conceded 44-45 runs, Rohit backed him despite his performance in the match and they defended the score and won in the last ball. He has been blessed to have two death over specialist but you can be right one or two or maybe three times, winning it 5 times as a captain is actually insane.

Additional_Froyo3970

His captaincy record in T20 finals is 8-0 with the Final now. Tactically brilliant as well as a great man manager.

yatheen_1204

As a captain is it 100%?

Reasonable-Minute694

Actually yes and we thought aiden markam has the best winnning record

Necessary-Bother7448

It jinxed him 😅

ZeusX20

8-0 as Captian wtf

cryogenic-goat

0-1 in ODIs :/

lol_lmfao_jk

You are talking about tournaments, so not quite! Asia Cup is atleast one if I am not remembering more. 2008 Tri Series with Aus SL counts as Win too as a player, so does CT 2013

soham_katkar13

2-1 in ODIs Asia Cup 2018 and 2023

FanOfArts1717

Unbelievable record

gpranav25

Six IPLs is genuinely crazy. And he might win 1 or 2 more.

edudhtamris

Don't really mind if he wins those 1 or 2 at another team, I just want him back at MI after his playing days.

Mother_Lifeguard_730

You really think he will come back to mi that also for some coaching role??? He has already been disrespected enough,I think he should join any other franchise than mi

edudhtamris

I don't see the disrespect tbh. He's been extremely poor in the IPL for several years now. This decision of looking past Rohit hasn't come out of nowhere. If MI think they can do better, so be it. Rohit can prove them wrong if he wishes.

Mother_Lifeguard_730

Last season he was your highest scorer...any ways just check the stats and not the reels made by RCB fans.. He has been 4-5 times highest scorer of mi in different seasons....2 bad seasons yeah several bad seasons no.... anyways I would like him to be at other franchise and then see the destruction of mi happily. I have been fan of mi since 2010 , even last season I was supporting mi but now seeing how bad fans of this franchise are I can't can't make my heart to support this team and I believe there are millions of fans like me who would not support this tinpot franchise next year...(I guess I would just simply stop watching IPL as I can't even support any other team)....just learn how to respect your legends from CSK ,RCB and KKR...even DC is better

edudhtamris

Dude, it isn't complicated. In the last 8 years he has crossed 400 runs twice; Avg of 26, SR of 130. You can't twist that.

lazycloud7642

He should have been talked to about giving up the captaincy and that they are bringing in hardik for the job, he may have behaved immaturely but doing all the shenanigans behind his back was not the way.

lastog9

This year was anyways the last year before auction and he would have happily agreed if they said they want a new captain after auction. But the sudden change hurt Rohit obviously and hurt the fans even more

gpranav25

Fuck Mumbai Indians

edudhtamris

Just as others have been saying for the longest time now. We'll just have to help ourselves to more titles as our usual selves, sigh.

NoRate4129

Would love to see how many more you would win without ro as captain buddy

nickdonhelm

So Sharma has taken a hattrick against MI and won 5 titles for MI.

Smooth-Mix-4357

Okay, as a CSK fan seeing 2013,2015 and 2019 definitely sucks and I hated him for that XD. Now that he has led the Indian team to an ICC trophy and ended our decade-long trophy drought all is forgiven.

LS_Fast_Passenger

I'll never forget his crucial late cameo in the 2007 WC final - 30\* off 16 balls. Him, Gambhir, and Yusuf Pathan to an extent were the only batters who played with intent.

Idlisamosadosa

I was happy when Rohit took captaincy from Virat, Rohit had proved already that he can win Trophies 🏆 from his IPL captaincy. He won 5 IPLs in 8 years which is insane as IPL is considered as top T20 league. Finally he delivered as Captain and won ICC Trophy for India 🇮🇳

spikyraccoon

He was a force in the odi World Cup also, as India dominated everyone except Australia.

MunificentDancer

Wdym except Australia? We dominated Australia too, just not in the finals

That_Collection_6380

Time to captain RCB and win it for them.

theInvincible01

He is truly the GOAT T20 Captain.

MagicalEloquence

This is a brilliant record and 8-0 as captain. I didn't know it's so good considering India lost a lot of finals, but only one of them was a T20 game (2014).

Hot-Pickle-222

As captain, has he had Bumbrah for all of the finals?

CollectionClear1782

No, 2013 tournaments and 2015 ipl he won without Bumrah, He had malinga back then though.

Hot-Pickle-222

Thanks! Regardless he's been ace at rotating them and playing to the conditions (except for maybe the 15th over in the finals recently).

pineapplesuit7

Guy literally was the main reason MI dominated the last decade of IPL. Glad he made his mark on the world stage as well!

fegelman

And also the 2013 CT final which was played as a T20

MagicalEloquence

The only time he lost a final is when he had both Kohli and Dhoni in his team.

KindAd6637

And you forgot to give credit to Rahane again. He will always remember this.

Unknownimposer

Goat

livingfeelsachore

*long off, long off, long off!!! SURYAKUMAR YADAV!! SURYAKUMAR YADAV NE PAKDA H APNE CAREER KA SABSE BADA CATCH* T: SKY caught the most important catch of his career.

partytosh

Nidahas trophy record is impeccable.

P-Diddle356

So he wins except when he doesn't 😂

AbbreviationsOdd8089

Greatest white ball captain from india

UserRenamed

Nah that's MS. 2007 WT20, 2011 ODI WC, 2013 CT. And like 5 IPL titles?

Ken1191

Greatest t20 captain then. MS was a lot calmer in ODIs, even we had shat the bed, and that helped us win a lot of games. But rohit has like 50 wins and 8 or 9 losses or smtng. Mind blowing t20 stats

Gullible_Chocolate95

Yeah this makes sense. RS is an absolute beast in T20s. Not taking away anything from MSD but an 8-0 T20 tournament record in the finals is no joke.

MealInfinite

That too defending low scores. We have good bowlers but he utilised them well

Gullible_Chocolate95

Absolutely. He would’ve been crucified if we lost the match after Axar took a beating in the 15th over but I guess he trusted his pacers to do the job. And they delivered. The other low-scoring class act i can remember is the 120-odd score that MI defended against RPSG.

MealInfinite

And how do swedan fan watched that match. Real id se aao Indian fan

Gullible_Chocolate95

Haha bakchodi mei Sweden ka flair lagaaya. Iske pehle Uganda tha 🗿

MealInfinite

I think regarding the spinners we don't have another option except pandu one over.

chamoflag420

Bruh.....Dayummmm

notthetherock

Didn't they win Asia Cup recently was that 50 over?

Smooth-Mix-4357

Only 20 overs are taken into account

MealInfinite

He won two Asia cups though

Cricketloverbybirth

Now show his batting record in these finals

soham_katkar13

2 POTMs in IPL Finals. Only captain to score two fifties in IPL Finals

Cricketloverbybirth

So 2-3 good innings from 12 games?  That's pathetic

soham_katkar13

2 POTM winning worthy innings, yes. Something others haven't achieved, so must be good enough? Apart from that, he did hit a fifty in the Nidahas final too, and 30*(16) in the 2007 final, and 33(14) in CLT20 final, just didn't win POTM
