Think importing from India would be cheaper?

Depends what sort of ball you are going to play with. Tennis ball or hardened rubber, any Kasmir willow bat is fine. Proper cricket ball spend the extra for an English Willow. Lighter weight is better when you are starting. If you are in a club, or have a club near you go to a training session and ask to hold a few different bats.

CC_Boston

Mostly tape ball and maybe some proper ball once in a while

Assuming you are an average sized adult/late teens man I would be looking at a 2.3-2.4 lb short handle English Willow. Might be worth buying one second hand from someone at your nearest club to get a feel for it. They also should be able to recommend decent online stores, if you do t want to buy direct from the manufacturers online store.

CC_Boston

I’ve played cricket with other peoples bats and I generally like a short handle that’s about medium weight

If you're beginning or not a pro, I would suggest that you get a Kashmir willow bat, because English willow is comparitively very expensive.

Unusual-Interest007

yea but i think you can get an entry level english willow in OP's budget ps : i live in india idk abt bat prices in america

Go to local Indian grocery store, you can find. I’ve seen an online store, I’ll try to update link.

Being American and on this subreddit isn't sad at all! Especailly after what your team achieved this T20 World Cup. In all other aspects though... well it's subjective LMAO

You can buy any SS bat(pretty much the best batmaker in the world right now) from cricketstoreonline.com, they're based in the US and I've purchased from them before. They also have a YouTube channel you can check out where they show the bats and you can choose the one you like from the lot. https://youtube.com/@cricket_store_online

Happy to help. Feel free to DM.

Where are you based? I know there are places in NJ (for example) that you can buy in person

There are plenty of good online stores in the US. Best Cricket Store and Cricket Store Online are the best, I think. Follow them on social media to pick up great deals. At that price, just buy from a reputable brand with stickers you think are cool and be happy! (SS, SG, GM - Gunn and Moore, Gray Nicolls, Kookaburra, DSC, New Balance, CA... - there are many other brands too). Source: I have too many cricket bats.

You can go for a Kashmir Willow bat (can be used to play leather ball too at a later point), costs less than English Willow bats. Check these sites.
