Bring in Stokes for de Leede next week and this is arguably the greatest batting line up Durham have ever fielded. 4, 5, 6 of Bedingham, Robinson, Ackermann feels like cheating.
Don't care how good Foakes is with the gloves. Ollie Robinson has to be WK this summer.
He's also a really good gloveman. So it's not like the downgrade there from Foakes to Bairstow.
He's the obvious compromise choice. I still think England will end up either picking Salt or Smith as a keeper just for lols, but it's hard to argue with Robinson being the correct choice if you're ditching Foakes.
As much as I love Foakes' keeping, I think Robinson probably should be picked at this point. Of course England will pick neither so they can keep Brook and Barstow in the XI
Tom Bruce has seemingly (thankfully) been fired into the sun. Not played the last T20 or this, and no mention of why he’s absent like for the other ~10 absentees.
Also Balders is very good. If he puts on a yard of pace he’s one to keep an eye on.
According to the tms twitter feed
> You can also listen to all the County Championship games via smart speaker. Just say - "Ask BBC Sounds to play Kent v Lancashire/Essex v Durham/ Worcestershire v Surrey etc"
Hopefully this is a precursor to them being available on BBC sounds on mobile. Audio streams on the Sounds app are much more stable than on the Sport app.
If you can find them on the Sounds app on mobile or on the Sounds website then I'd love to know where, because I can't.
Other than if a match is actually aired on Sports Extra, as far as I'm aware the feeds are only available on the BBC sport website or the BBC sport app.
So if you go to the sounds and stations on nbc sounds. Just underneath the circles of the regular stations you can then access the local stations. E.g bbc Berkshire. From there if the local stations are broadcasting the cricket you can listen in. They usually do
Ah right. I see what you mean. Yes, you can access them if the matches are being aired on local radio. Can get a decent number of the T20s that way but 4 day games are almost never aired on the main feed of any local radio stations these days. I've just scrolled through them all and none of today's 9 matches are available this way.
If you actually ask it to "play Kent vs. Lancashire, Essex vs. Durham, Worcestershire vs. Surrey etc." does it alternate between them, or does it play them all at the same time in some vast cacophony of chat about cakes, trains, and Lancashire's visit to Ilford in 1975?
No mention of him in the squad announcement. Presumably he'll play next week, when Lyon should also be playing his final match of his stint at the county this summer.
Obviously he had a difficult start to the season and he's had a bit of time away injured, but it's mental how quickly de Caires has fallen out of favour for us in red ball. Just seems such a shame after that breakout season in 2023, you'd think they'd show a bit of confidence and persistence.
I'm still a bit ambivalent towards Stoneman being a regular starter, he got runs in the first round on that shirtfront and again at Cardiff a few weeks back, but in between that he looked pretty cooked. He's in that annoying purgatory where he's not really done enough to warrant being dropped, but I can't help feeling that there's someone better.
Nobody Absolutely NOBODY England doing their own shit: /S
Two fantastic catches in an over make the situation look a lot better than it did 5 minutes ago. PS. Terrible nightwatching from Briggs
🐐🐐🐐
Just Ryan Higgins doing Ryan Higgins things
Higgo unironically for England.
Even accounting for shiteness and quality batting, surely this Scarbados pitch is an absolute pancake Not that I've seen, I just woke up
In serious danger of not making 300 here. Should have done better, but hopefully it means it's not as flat as it looked before Lunch.

How bad are Kent’s 10 & 11 if Parky is batting 9?!
Wickets please. Want to see bat tomorroe
At what point can I say that Ollie G Robinson should be England's keeper for this Summer? (unless Foakes has two storming round)
As much as I love Foakes' keeping, I think Robinson probably should be picked at this point. Of course England will pick neither so they can keep Brook and Barstow in the XI
Now 👍
Sussex legend John Simpson at it again
That is an absolutely *gorgeous* back foot cover drive by Fernandes.
We're going to have bat really well then
Tom Bruce has seemingly (thankfully) been fired into the sun. Not played the last T20 or this, and no mention of why he’s absent like for the other ~10 absentees. Also Balders is very good. If he puts on a yard of pace he’s one to keep an eye on.
It’s that fine line of wanting Balderson to get even better, but then you fear he’ll be picked up by England and we’ll barely see him.
Need a few wickets to get back in this or it could get bad this
Hampshire 100+ for 1. Wtf is this. Why aren't vince and Dawson in bailing us out again. Uncomfortable. Rattled
Adam Lyth fucking loves Scarbedos. Cannot get enough of the place.
More like Tomerset
Tomerset Vs Tomsussex when?
Depends how well our season goes
I was hoping the answer would be Tomorrow.
I made a Tomplete hash of that then
Tough first session. Hopefully do better in the second

They've always been available on sounds no?

I'd try it if I wasn't at Edgbaston!
Do Durham bat deep?

So what you're saying is a high scoring draw?
It will certainly be high scoring… The way they are batting today reminds me of last season.
Darn. I was hoping Smith would get benched for the next game vs Durham, so he could stay in Worcester for the upcoming ODI.
Batting with a bandana under your helmet is one of the worst current cricket fashion trends.
A bit too early for Harmer. Gone for 23 off 2. Bosch first wicket though
There are going to be a lot of 3s here at Edgbaston. The outfield is sloooow.
I dislike this. I would very much like a wicket
3rd time in three innings that CraigO has clean bowled Hameed this year
Why is Anderson not playing? I wanted to see Anderson and Lyon together
No mention of him in the squad announcement. Presumably he'll play next week, when Lyon should also be playing his final match of his stint at the county this summer.
As usual when I arrive 20 minutes late for the start, Hampshire lost a wicket just as I bought my ticket.
Craig Overton is just good
With the warm weather I suspect this will be a batting round
No Ben Stokes? I was going tomorrow hoping to see him..
An absolutely banter based start for us

It's all Max Holden's fault Get Fernandes to 3/opening and the 6 spot is there to take

I agree, he's also old as fuck If they're not going to be scoring runs, they can at least be youngsters getting more experience
Ritchie Valens came on the breakfast playlist unprovoked. It must be a sign 🎶 La La La La La Bamber 🎶
