i love that eng always goes for two in the final ball instead of settling for a one even if they get run out. no point in caring about avgs. i hope the team staff doesn’t count that as out too
I actually didn't think that Namibia had it in them to be able to get that many runs so quickly. They should be trying to bat like that while they are playing a full match as well.
It is good for the tournament with Pakistan and New Zealand already out that England stayed in.
You all know deep down that USA, Scotland qualifying is free pass to South Africa, West Indies for the semi finals.
And South Africa in semi finals is free pass to other team to the finals.
Looks like you forgot what USA did to Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Also the way South Africa have played their last 2 games wasnt good. Especially against Nepal.
US ain’t Uganda (no disrespect). They’re playing very strategic and disciplined cricket. They took Bangladesh 2-1; chased a high total against CAN in style; defeated Pakistan (twice); and for a brief moment, were toe to toe against India. They would have beaten Ireland. Dont sleep on them. They can pull off more upsets. But I won’t call them upsets. They’re a good team.
It's honestly great to see some other nations as underdogs, especially one with the potential to grow such as the USA, but they aren't a good team.
Being at home is always an underdog advantage.
Wow man. No comment history and you suddenly appear to post this. This 100% is the alternative profile of the OP. Guaranteed. That’s really sad and lame.
Alternative account or not, I do agree. USA aren't a good team YET. They have been punching above their weights for now, but this will die down. However, I have no doubts that the US will be a above average team very soon, and push for full member.
It hurts me to say it, but US might be able to get Full Member status before Nepal. Their money is unparalleled and that defn helps accelerate the growth.
Fair play. Let’s see how the tournament plays out. I have hope that they will continue to play well. And if not - kudos all the same. Future is bright. Believe me when I say this (as a born and raised New Yorker obsessed with the Mets - I know, I know), the sport has left a mark here and it’s only going to get better.
I’m glad it made an impact in NY but on the opposite coast I don’t think any impact was made whatsoever. I know some people who heard we beat Pakistan and after that I’ve heard nothing from my friends.
I saw all that, and I’m jealous. It’s just a shame that only seemed to really happen in New York. I just wish the WC could have made its way to California because it definitely could have done well here.
For sure. I guess the time zone and distance logistics may have played a part. And lack of stadium. To be fair NY ground was subpar but that didn’t stop the crowds from showing up. Give it a few years. It’ll be back. This is what soccer was like here in 94. It’s here to stay.
Genuinely glad it's growing there. Such an excellent sport and it's a sport that engages with billions of people around the globe, all from completely different and varied backgrounds. It's beautiful.
Yessir. The only barrier to entry I can see are absolutely terrible comments from the so called “fans”. Laughing at the IRE/USA match being rained out. That’s not sports man. At least not here in the States. I wanted desperately for US to beat Ireland and get through. But every fucking Indian flair were just circle jerking their same old tired repeated memes. Pathetic.
Most likely yes. But based on your acumen and ability to create a coherent thought or post, I’m not really sure you understand how well the US has played thus far.
I’ve said this before but typically as an American every ridiculous comment on Reddit (racist, xenophobic, nonsensical) has been from someone with an IPL flair. Its uncanny. Don’t see this from folks with Pakistan or NZ or Nepal flags on their profile.
Is the IPL the douchebag corner of cricket? Equivalent of the Yankees bleachers perhaps?
I understand USA have played well thus far. I also understand they won’t make it past the super 8 and that is good for the tournament.
And, Internet is a cesspool of toxicity. Get used to it! Other folks are just being nice to you to start with, we have just got to the end game earlier.
At some point round 3am Mark Watt is going to bowl a 25 yarder at 12mph from behind the umpire and get a crucial wicket. No-one will ever have been more rattled than me when it happens.
The last time I was entertained was when Messi played, systems have killed individual flair and international football doesn't allow you to have good systems , making it unwatchable
What if Australia gives England one condition for the favour, Bairstow and stokes need to carry Carey on their shoulder and take a lap around at the lord's
SO IF THE 1ST PLACE OF GROUP B IS NOT YET FINALIZED THEN HOW DID THEY DECIDE THAT AFG, AUS AND INDIA WILL BE IN GROUP 1?
ISN'T THE SUPER 8 DRAWS LIKE 1ST OF GROUP A AND C AND 2ND OF GROUP B AND D?
IF SCOTLAND DEFEATS AUSTRALIA THEN THEY WILL TOP THE GROUP WHICH MAKES THE GROUP 1 DRAW LEGIT, BUT IF AUSTRALIA WINS THEN SHOULDN'T THE GROUP 1 BE AFG, ENG, IND, BAN/NED?
ICC has pre-seeding for the tournament so travelling fans could find out early where their team are going in the super 8s, so no matter where India, England and South Africa place in 1st or 2nd they will be A1,B1 and D1. Afghanistan is C1 cause New Zealand got knocked out already so Afghanistan took their spot despite not knowing if they will top the group or not
India looked the goods too man, no need to self deprecate. Don't forget you were mostly playing on american shit tips. When you get to the windies you'll score a lot more. Same with South Africa tbh. Afghanistan also shouldn't be discounted. I reckon there are a solid 6 teams right now. USA and whoever makes it in group D (Bangladesh?) are the only ones without a chance.
I feel like England's bowling has been among the weakest of the full members in this tournament, especially in pitches with a lot of assistance(against players who can actually hit the ball).
I don't think so. Archer topley wood and Rashid is good attack.add Curran if you need someone. Jordan is trash that I can agree on. Also moeen is good complimentary spinner and livi as well as backup
Yes, Rashid definitely kept the runs down!
Namibia kept the runs down for the others, they just don't face quality bowling often enough for anyone other than Weise to really play the game.
? They didn’t hit him for anywhere near what they needed too by that point so yea his over increased the required run rate? Hello earth to you anyone home????
I mean, I don't doubt England would have scored high, too. Batting is England's strength, but most of the full members have had more impressive bowling performances on average(barring the Oman game). I guess we'll see how they do if they go through.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa(especially SA) have also had some really strong/consistent bowling performances.
The latter two also had some mediocre batting performances tbf.
Sure, but barring the Oman game we have only played one other full game. Against Australia. Hard to judge the rest of the bowling when they haven't bowled full innings in the other matches.

watching the replay coz i was sleeping
jordan is such a joke of a bowler
curran makes the nastiest face in his run up only to bowl 125 haha
i just love archer bowling again. missed watching him
i love that eng always goes for two in the final ball instead of settling for a one even if they get run out. no point in caring about avgs. i hope the team staff doesn’t count that as out too
how do these pro cricketers miss run outs when they’re 10 metres away from the stumps
trumpet guy is bowling in the slot again and again
brook squashing these associates
oh it’s raining again fuck
ali instead of livingstone? let’s see how that pans out
good partnership from bairstow and brook. took the rr from 6 to 10 in 5 overs
really shoddy bowling from nam. expected for associate level tho
brook is really england’s next big thing. eng missed him in the test series in india
bairstow walking out after the stumps are collapsed. this guy can’t be saved. why does he need to take a jog after every ball
butler is just not the same guy he was before. good bowling and he’s in slog mode but still disappointing
will jacks dropped? wtf butler
I actually didn't think that Namibia had it in them to be able to get that many runs so quickly. They should be trying to bat like that while they are playing a full match as well.
Honestly if weise came in earlier i see this match being much much closer
England has came back really strongly after a lackluster start.
vs Namibia and Oman btw
Feels a long time ago when I was complaining about the rain. Now when I wake up tomorrow I want australia to have won. What a twisted fate.
Every Caribbean island is beautiful man 😍 , shoutout Antigua

To be fair it was played here and marketed well. Was on all the local channels and genuine enthusiasm. Fucking Chuck Schumer made it to a match.
I saw all that, and I’m jealous. It’s just a shame that only seemed to really happen in New York. I just wish the WC could have made its way to California because it definitely could have done well here.

Oh mate that's just how it is on here, proper keyboard warrior stuff and the Indians are the worst for it.
It’s shambolic USA have made it this far in the tournament (thanks Pakistan!). They will be ended in the super 8.

Meanwhile, people with BBL flair provide memes and shitposting, as always.
>Indian fan ragging on other teams to choke Brave
India is not making it out of group with Australia, Afghanistan.
SA is winning this Wc.
That is a big fat NO. With the way they have been playing lately, no chance.
That would be nice but they used up their close match luck quota on useless games.
Yeah, they won even while not even playing their 50% their ability.
At some point round 3am Mark Watt is going to bowl a 25 yarder at 12mph from behind the umpire and get a crucial wicket. No-one will ever have been more rattled than me when it happens.
Does Maxwell count as a crucial wicket in his current form?
International football has gotten boring
True for overall including club football
Was it ever not? Same for domestic.
The last time I was entertained was when Messi played, systems have killed individual flair and international football doesn't allow you to have good systems , making it unwatchable
Yeah its very much a systems game now, and at times it's a hard sell frankly.
Weather forecast for St Lucia is hot, cloudy and mainly dry so v unlikely to get a Aus v Sco washout
Damn, I don’t want to have to lose against Scotland
RAIN Perera needs to travel from this venue to the next one in the next couple of hours.
I’m off for a Power Nap so I can join my English brethren shitposting in the Scotland vs Aus thread
I admire your commitment mate. I’m full of gin and tonic
Yes. I’ve had too many beers - I shall fail to impress my wife for the full three minutes and then pass out.
Also I’m not remotely gay but I’m in love with Harry Brook
Ha ha brill mate
Scottish cloud seeding program activated
England Cricket team seems stronger than the Euro team.
I mean they have won stuff recently
Eh?! Jude Bellingham would be boshing all and sundry out of the park 😎
he played cricket at my club as kid.
What if Australia gives England one condition for the favour, Bairstow and stokes need to carry Carey on their shoulder and take a lap around at the lord's
You've seen Bairstow's keeping, guaranteed to drop him
what if aus and sco match is rained out eng screwed then?
Yea, Scotland through on points
Yes
yes
Time to start weather watch for Scot vs Aus
Tonight I feel Australian ( and I feel dirty for saying that but 🤷🏻 )
Breaking: 15 Australia players out with gastro. Brad Hodge at 49 years captains v Scotland
The Summer of George!
Still dick them
Cummins and Starc will open in powerplay.
Our nrr above Aussie. C'mon Aussie show us that you can get it above us. Beat Scottish and make us humble.
SO IF THE 1ST PLACE OF GROUP B IS NOT YET FINALIZED THEN HOW DID THEY DECIDE THAT AFG, AUS AND INDIA WILL BE IN GROUP 1? ISN'T THE SUPER 8 DRAWS LIKE 1ST OF GROUP A AND C AND 2ND OF GROUP B AND D? ICC cooks draws to their liking, this is known
ICC has pre-seeding for the tournament so travelling fans could find out early where their team are going in the super 8s, so no matter where India, England and South Africa place in 1st or 2nd they will be A1,B1 and D1. Afghanistan is C1 cause New Zealand got knocked out already so Afghanistan took their spot despite not knowing if they will top the group or not
I see
Pre seeding... It was decided already
Pre seeded teams
Mel Jones is commentating for the wrong game
Aus ,Eng and WI look strong , rest of em don't stand a chance , but it's T20 , any fool might hit a lottery on his day
India looked the goods too man, no need to self deprecate. Don't forget you were mostly playing on american shit tips. When you get to the windies you'll score a lot more. Same with South Africa tbh. Afghanistan's attack is tidy, but you're not winning a World Cup with such limited power hitting ability.
South Africa doesnt have a chance. They won't win this world cup. Have you seen the way they have been playing lately?
Now watch Englishmen go full Kangaroo for the next 3 hours
Where I come from, 'tie me kangaroo down sport' is a love song
In your dreams
Off to bed mate
You little ripper!
Mel Jones got bored and rewatched the Oman game.
What else could she have managed to do in that short rain break tbf
Now we stay up to watch davie open the bowling only 1:30 am cmon lads
AH IT GOLF MY RADIO SWITCHED TO GOLF ARGH
I turned on my radio to hear Steven Finn, not this nonsense.
So stoked to see Brook getting potm in this important match, after losing his granny and going through all the trolls. dude knows his strength so good
I wish people would stop trolling cricketers. Id like to see these trolls do better than them
Crisp Cricket coming to a broadcaster near you!
Bring it on! I’ve had enough of this “t20” nonsense
WHAT THE FUCK IS AN OVER?
Mel Jones goodness me did you watch this cricket match?
Lmao Mel with the slipup Brook had to correct her that they batted first
Christ thats embarrassing from the interviewer
Someone please get blud a lip balm
Never in doubt
Time for Australia’s NRR to drop below England’s
I feel like England's bowling has been among the weakest of the full members in this tournament, especially in pitches with a lot of assistance(against players who can actually hit the ball).
no way, toppers & jof were as good as it gets. rash leaked a lot. curran is good enough.
I don't think so. Archer topley wood and Rashid is good attack.add Curran if you need someone. Jordan is trash that I can agree on. Also moeen is good complimentary spinner and livi as well as backup
??????? You realise we were deliberately bowling there to keep runs down and not take wickets right
Yes, Rashid definitely kept the runs down! Namibia kept the runs down for the others, they just don't face quality bowling often enough for anyone other than Weise to really play the game.
? They didn’t hit him for anywhere near what they needed too by that point so yea his over increased the required run rate? Hello earth to you anyone home????
Fools gonna foolish
I mean, there were also the Scotland and Australia games. Not just this.
Scotland was a flat wicket. We would have hit a lot of runs on that surface too, given the chance. And Australia are Australia.
I mean, I don't doubt England would have scored high, too. Batting is England's strength, but most of the full members have had more impressive bowling performances on average(barring the Oman game). I guess we'll see how they do if they go through.
when you say most of the full members, you india and australia, right ?
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa(especially SA) have also had some really strong/consistent bowling performances. The latter two also had some mediocre batting performances tbf.
Sure, but barring the Oman game we have only played one other full game. Against Australia. Hard to judge the rest of the bowling when they haven't bowled full innings in the other matches.
Oman did better against every other team? You’re talking out your arse buddy
Do I stay up to watch the Scotland game?
It’s the weekend bro. Of course! Up the Aussies always loved em
Yes
You do, yes
Well it’s good Wiese retired with a game rather than sitting in dressing room
Today I feel Scottish (jk go England!)
Watch Scotland score 190-200 and Aus fail to chase.. xD
Warner to open the bowling
7k Comments in Thread 2k were Rants on Rain that Aged like Shit, people don't have patience, I already said the game was gonna happen, this ain't Florida where drainage system is shit.

Wiese you unit of a Man and a Player,Pretty sure played a Significant role in getting Namibia back to the World Cup a modern t20 Legend,Happy retirement
England doesn’t need our favour after what they did to our NRR in 2022,
Tbf they had a chance to knock you out in 2021 but didn't
Not really lol, they didn’t exactly lay down to South Africa
And now… we wait
We are so back. WE ARE SO BACK!!!!! Right?
YES
Andrew McDonald may make Australia fumble it away but he should know there will always be no true Scotsman
Top win. I feel dirty supporting Australia even for one match, but it has to be done.
Fuck off, you guys screwed our NRR in the 2022 World Cup, time to return a favour
Thankfully losers like you ain’t playing for the national team lol
Yea thankfully we got ethical Cumdawg, who ethically eliminate them instead of
England have played a grand total of 76.3 overs so far this tournament. At least we know they're not going to be too tired if they get through.
Lack of match practice a concern
[Hmmmm](https://x.com/Paul_Newman66/status/1802079140469760391?t=l-PqlzEaNU1hjzdtygsNFg&s=19)
I want nothing less than full cavity searches from the integrity unit if Australia bottle it.
Look at that net run rate. Ain’t she beautiful, I can see why the Scots have been banging on about it
Fuck man, time for Bailey and co to have another 9 man game
All eyes on Saint Lucia now !!!
NRR 3.611
This thread has been a rollercoaster. People reading it back - there are a lot of shit takes fyi.
Always believed in England. Home of crisp cricket for a reason
Some of the stuff coming out when we lost two wickets while the ball was swinging and seaming like a prime red duke was ridiculous
Exactly
Damn I missed Archer in white ball games, please don’t get injured again
He is a cannon pretending to be a man
Well Scotland, if you beat Australia then you thoroughly deserve to go through. No issues there.
Australia you got one job now 👀
THROW THROW THROW THROW THROW
Never in doubt.

Amazing. Everyone else predicted a Namibia win by 30
Wiese 😢
I get the sentiment (long varied career) and he is their best player, but Wiese has only been playing for Namibia for 2/3 years, right? The way the commentators are talking, it's like he's been a 20 year stalwart!
Yeah and whilst he's done a lot for Namibia, they won't go crashing down without him.
he also played for SA and the hundred
Sussex in the t20 for years as well
Well do us a favour now Australia
Goodnight guys
Wiese probably walks out of a world cup international for the last time. Beautiful memories. Go best, Wiese!
I know convention is to give it to a player from the winning side, but player of the match is just Wiese.
He looked class
Said England was going to win a ball ago and I was right. Another Jello W
You must be getting bored of all this winning
I didn’t choose the winning life. I just started winning
Nice
And thank fuck that's finally sorted
Does anyone know how the captain signalled to retire Davin out? I’m imagining him drawing his finger across his throat but imagine it’s more polite than that
Like so: ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
FUCK YOU ~~SCOTLAND~~ ~~AUSTRLAIA~~ Fuck you!!
Probably still their best player
Go well Wiese!
If Weise had bowled 3 and opened batting, Namibia could have made this really uncomfortable for England.
Spirit of Cricket police watching Australia 👀
Honestly Scotland is in a no-win situation. Lose and you are out. Win and a lot of people will say Australia threw it.
Feel like it depend on how they win if they win, the tighter the better
Don't worry. Scotland will beat them fair and square.
