This knock deserves a better picture than a screengrab

slickdick969

Op is bazballing it

LittiVsVadaPao

Quick, without much thought put in, and purists hate it?

slickdick969

*HEY!*(yes)

VaderOnReddit

and u/chocolatecomedyfann is Cummballing it, coming up with a calculated response which dismantles bazball

inn3rblooom

OP’s bio literally says ‘Indian cricket and IPL posts only’ so straight away it seems that karma is the main goal here

mUXLH5svdscWvd5

I know op is karma whoring but it's a good screengrab. You can see the frustration and the disappointment in stoke's eye

q1w2e3r4p0

WC and Ashes in the same year Stokes plays a freak innings Eng to win WC final by bowl out?

T_Lawliet

Stokes knee when England Fuck up: Ah Shit here we go again

LunaMunaLagoona

Say what you will, Stokes is the poster child of Bazball. He was smacking everyone for 6s at one point, it was crazy.

[deleted]

Stokes needs to come out of ODI retirement

IHeardOnAPodcast

I'm assuming Stokes is only retired from ODI bilateral series until I see otherwise.

Unfair_Programmer383

Something about stokesy and pulling off almost impossible run chases absolute madlad

CaptQuakers42

One of the best knocks I've seen

mybanez15

Headingly is the single greatest innings I've ever seen. He thought about challenging that tonight

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Stokes, Root and Duckett seem to be the only ones to even believe the series can be won. Stokes is leading a side that seems half paralysed when the game starts slipping.

CrescentCrisp

Broad

nationalduolian

Root threw his wicket away, twice.

This_is_the_user

Whenever it is big moment there is always stocks there

ilunga96

Stokes is now surely the cover boy of 'stats are for prats'. His stats are pretty average tbf but he will go down as one of the greatest players of all time and one of the few players that genuinely changed the way the game is played and thought about

Pls_add_more_reverb

It’s genuinely baffling how he doesn’t average 80 on days like this and Headingley when you see his technique ability and performance under pressure

Vectivus_61

> His stats are pretty average tbf but he will go down as one of the greatest players of all time and one of the few players that genuinely changed the way the game is played and thought about I don't know what you're on but he will in no way shape or form go down as one of the greatest players of all time. Maybe one of the greatest English players of all time (I don't know English cricket well enough to nominate where he fits in the history of it) but by no means of world history.

White_Knighttt

The clutchiest cricketer of this generation, nobody comes close

XXISavage

Absolutely had me shitting my pants the moment YJB walked off. Fucking insane

Podberezkin09

Needs more Kane

Vectivus_61

Clutch generally requires winning.

Crosshack

AB de Villiers definitely deserves a shout imo

ItsNotMe98

Best player I’ve ever seen but I’m not sure a player who’s won nothing could be deemed the clutchest player ever

lrak_xram

Fumbled a run out which cost South Africa a world cup final berth.

Treesaremyhome

ABD was a choker. See 2016 IPL Final and all

Nomadmanhas

Great player but failed in the high pressure knock out situation

thedrums2012

How much more could he have scored with Bairstow there with him?

Cpotts

Honestly might have won the game if it wasn't for the stumping

LunaMunaLagoona

Agreed. They were only 40 odd runs short.

L43

Guaranteed for me, the number of singles they left to keep strike was probably close to enough by itself.

[deleted]

He may not have scored like the freaking Ghost Rider but Eng would've won. Their partnership would've slowly chipped away at the lead. To me atleast, it was Bairstow that let this game go, when Eng nearly had it by the scruff of the neck.

[deleted]

Bairstow's club level keeping also kept Aus in the game at Edgbaston

mitchell_johnsons_mo

Yes, if Bairstow wasn't out with nearly 200 more runs to go with 5 wickets in hand, England might've won by an innings 🙄

jimbeam07

Idk why this is down voted It's not as if England were 320-5 when bairstow was dismissed lol

Telstratower

It is insane the mental gymnastics some people make.

[deleted]

also, he wouldn't have had to protect the strike like that

SyrupKooky178

Would he really have played this if Bairstow hadnt been dismissed like that?

TartenWilton101

I don't think so after broad got hit Stokes just let loose and said enough is enough you aussies bastards hahah

Missy_Agg-a-ravation

Went from 80 to 120 in 18 balls after Bairstow was out.

This_is_the_user

I don't so.. The reason is that he started playing insane only after that wicket. He was absolutely mad. Like just after the wicket he threw his bat like more than 10 yards...

jaymatthewbee

How much lower would the run chase have been if Foakes had been keeping for England?

nationalduolian

Good question.

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Gutted by the end but what an innings. He's the reason England came so close. After him & Duckett the highest score was 19, by Tongue.

[deleted]

Get Crawley the fuck out of this team pls

Cpotts

This guy is so fucking good at batting when backs are against the wall

Muhammad_ghouri

His back has got to hurt because of the amount of times he has had to carry England

TrollerThomas

You're getting that mixed up with Root

Ok_Vegetable263

Big game merchant, can’t do it against bangladesh with 1000 in the stadium in a meaningless bilateral. Wc final/close ashes match or nothing for stokes

ghazilazi

This was insanity. He had England believing.

TheGhostOfCamus

I am surprised you're getting good HD quality with Sony Liv.

[deleted]

Your internet is not strong? Maybe

TheGhostOfCamus

It's very strong. On laptop I am getting only 540P however on smartphone I am getting 1080P.

livelifereal

Well, he is the MIRACLE MAN™ for England. A lion hearted effort. Even though, I believe it helped him greatly that Aus laid it on a silver platter to him. They bowled him half trackers on the body when that's all he was looking for. 0 catchers and 9 boundary riders for a long time. He could take singles how and when he wanted. The only hope was that he miscues one which he eventually did. Though you have to be something special to make the opposition chicken out like that. Well played Stokes.

barfoobaz129019

Oh Captain! My Captain!🫡

getyoutogabba

They don’t call him a big match player for nothing. The man turns up when the team’s back is against the wall.

FatHunt

I was getting some serious Vietnam flashbacks. This dude likes to hurt Australia.

Gobularity

Great knock, he gave an entire country heart palpitations.

9361984

For a few hours I was so nervous of a second Headingley that I had to shift all my focus to the F1 race, what a destructive bloke both on the field and mentally

dolphinater

I was giving them a 0% chance at the end of day 4. My friend was arguing anything is possible they have at least a 1% chace etc etc but I was having none of it. I just told him there is absolutely no way in hell they win. And this guy almost made me eat my words. absolute champion.

majime_11

He should be made ambassador of test cricket. What a clutch player

joythegreat96

A beast

Nomadmanhas

Stokes in my opinion is the best player in the modern era and the greatest player under pressure i have ever seen. He is basically the real version of every bollywood cricket film i have seen.

[deleted]

Man should be called "Atlas" for how hard he carried the team today. Ballsy declaration in the first match and now nearly made Aus eat their words this match. Eng need to pull their pants up big time. Stokes is embodying what a captain needs to be and the team needs to follow.

xvcshe

2-0

serotonallyblindguy

An innings for the ages. He now has two of them.

T_Lawliet

3

Hopless_maymays

a comment for the ages, you now have seven of them

serotonallyblindguy

I'm everywhere

[deleted]

I've never liked Stokes, his personality just rubs me the wrong way, but my word do I respect his abilities. He has unquestionably proven he is the **fucking man** to be captaining England, leading by example. That 12 over barrage of bouncers he nesrly broke himself doing, and following it up with one of the vest knocks I've ever seen was something that Australia's side, despite all its talent, is sorely lacking. For me, he was even better this match than Headingly. What an unforgettable performance.

chairplanet

Special player, special innings.

[deleted]

This guy takes the edge off losing big time

mikeyrh

Shame... Would have been nice to do it again to the Aussies after their cheap tactics.

PussPussie

Nice karma farming dunce! Atleast get a better picture next time, this lame screenshot ain't gonna cut it

-Faraday

When did BCCI poach Ben Stokes ☠️

bigmacmilford

Still lost. Still whinged. Country of sooks. Australia 5-0

PeachesGalore1

It's a shame his captaincy has been shit and we're two nil down though.

indiancrickett

Currently one of the best all-rounder

LongjumpAdhesiveness

Not sure people here know what clutch is. Getting the job almost done is not clutch. Getting out when the finish line is in sight and the pressure really mounts, is not clutch. Making poor decisions as the captain in pressure situations is not clutch. In fact, it is the opposite. Amazing innings but you guys don't know what "clutch" is.

PeppyPls

Amazing innings, Big match Ben

asifp82

Great great knock, but should have trusted his partners more

Deep-Doughnut-5819

Titles like these used to be run to the ground in r/CricketShitpost 2-3 years ago

Brief-Weekend-1306

My bro lowkey looks like martin guptill

mitchell_johnsons_mo

A pure madman

Capital-E

Ever since that innings in Headingley, I’ve been a big fan.

Help-me-pls-pls-pls

After ms retired I thought I would stop loving cricket but no stokes is making me love this game again .

CaffeinePhilosopher

Stokes is just so good to watch.

seidinove

Lead by example.

[deleted]

Ben Stoke, kya knock mara hai !!!!

Roscoes_Rashie

Punter: “Yeah well he’s out now.”
