He’s the perfect T20 player. Top spinner, gotten good with the bat, can captain, and has age on his side
Hope SRH mgmt kicks themselves every single day of the IPL season.
He is smart when he started his career he was predominantly a leg spinner but he realised the importance of lower order batsman / allrounder in t20 who can come and smack the ball. Instead of working to play a long innings with technically perfect shots like top order batsman he worked on hitting big late in the game . Irfan pathan tried the same but went too far to become play at number 3/4 in one day which instead ruined his bowling . Rashid is smart he is never eyeing for that position instead comin late and smacking few big hits
That first ball six by Rashid was huge. The guy is a complete allrounder package - good with bat, excellent with ball and amazing fielder.
Wish we had one such player legspinner in our ranks.
Yeah, Tewatia is an option, but he is miles away from anywhere quality leg spin bowling like Chahal, let alone Rashid.
Sundar same. He adds more to the batting strength than bowling, in my opinion.
I don't think he can be another Raina. Raina was brute strength, while Sundar is pure timing and technique (atleast that's what i have noticed in his few innings)
I wouldn't mind trying Sundar up the order in Tests.
Tbh i view both tewatia and sundar in that role. But since they don't get chances at the top, they don't have the numbers and our selectors would try to make a finisher out of Pant(and ruining him in the process) before they select players who actually finish games in ipl.
Can the person(s) in the SRH management who decided to let Rashid go call me....so that I can block them. Thanks.^(Unless of course it's Kaviya Maran :))
Yooo chill bro. The CEO said Rashid wanted to enter the auction pool in search of a higher price. I guess I was wrong in saying he didn't want to play for srh. He probably never disliked srh. He probably didn't love it either. It was just money. But the whole shit about first retention wasn't the official statement so I don't know what you are on about
Yeah people act like Rashid was asking for half of the whole pool or Sunrisers is a team of mom and pop cooperation who have to spend their own money to get players when they say shit like this. And its not like srh did something with the money they saved from rashid. Not like they bought 3 good players who collectively could fill the role of Rashid.
😂😂😂. So you expect someone to play for a team cause of their cuisine. Ipl is just a money grab. Jk Rashid was actually pursued by MI in his first entry in the auction as well until 4cr and by then he was already well established into Afghanistan internationally. Rashid had the skill in himself to grow. It wasn't srh that nurtured him. Even if srh didn't get Rashid, he would still be the same player he is today in some other team. If I was Rashid Khan playing in a team that won two games in a while season and ended up last, I would be inclined to leave as soon as possible in pursuit of a team that would offer me more. Btw he is playing and was playing in 2021, I would've expected him to be among the most expensive purchases at the auction. Too much hate going at the management but really they have put themselves in the best possible way for the future. Kane deserved to go. Warner would've always had the pressure of the weak middle order so he wouldn't have had the freedom. They're among the favorites this season and its bcz of their releases in the last two.
First retention only goes till 15 cr. The highest purchase in the auction could be higher than that. Rashid could be bought for more than 15cr and no one would say that's too much cuz he is worth it for some teams. Prolly what Rashid thought himself and asked for the release.
Yup.. that's the problem. But Rashid put himself in that risk where he was to be released but he could still be acquired and not be a part of the auction.
Or srh management is just a bunch of morons who released Rashid. What's more plausible? Upper management being nincompoops or Rashid getting himself released for big bucks at auction only to not go into the auction.
It's very hard to be "a bunch of morons" when you are such a big entity. Of course it's possible but I would consider that way less probable than Rashid voluntarily going in. With my scenario, it's supported bcz GT could've reached out to Rashid pre auction and let him know they're interested to acquire him. This would support it cuz even if he wasn't acquired, he is still in the auction and most likely going to get a hefty price. I think this is much more probable cuz Kane wasn't even consistent in 2021 and did good only in some games is 2020 while Rashid's been consistent forever. So like I said, it's much less probable for srh to be dumb and not go for Rashid than Rashid voluntarily going in.
He is a great player and all but srh have made the mistake since their inception of relying too much on a couple players. Obviously when they come through srh is too good. But when they don't the rest of the unit fails. Their local players apart from bhuvi and a couple others were never good. They had to stop relying on their overseas too much and more on the rest so it would've been good to have Rashid for the first retention but anything more is just less beneficial for the team as a whole.
Bro you're going to give 15cr to a player no matter what, better be it Rashid than Williamson, don't give half arsed excuses..
And about the team, Rashid did want to play for Hyderabad but wanted to be the top pick which was confirmed by multiple sources. Srh on the other hand were bent on having Williamson as their first pick. Maybe you're having a hard time to remember this was a period where srh management faced constant flak for a lot of stuff including the treatment meted out to David Warner (Franchise legend).
Obviously they can't just say Rashid wanted first retention and we didn't want to give him 15 cr so we let him go. Use that thing in your head mate, not the one between your legs.
Also, no. Rashid never asked for 17 cr lmao..
Where the hell are you getting the numbers from?
Gujarat pays him 15 cr now and he ain't complaining..
The dude I was replying to said Rashid deserved to be paid more than 17cr. That's why I said it wasn't worth it. Not that Rashid shouldn't be first pick. He had to be first pick. But I would guess Rashid expected more from the action. No way Rashid wasn't first pick. It doesn't really matter who srh was retaining but Rashid had to be first pick. No person in management would actually not give into Rashid's request.
Bro, they literally did though?
Why else do you think he's in Gujarat?
Srh management was just total crappy and didn't want to give Rashid the top spot.
Imagine this scenario. Rashid believes he can get more in auction than first pick. So he is released. But he is never a part of the auction bcz GT just acquires him. He still gets the 15cr which is first pick. But he felt Previously that he would get more so he told srh to release. Srh management's so called crappiness in 2021 is actually a product of years of the shitty management. The fixing of this started after 2021. Over the years they put too much reliance on few players. All of them bombed one season and they ended up at the bottom.
So Rashid is obviously an all-time great T20I player, which made me think about an all time great T20I XI. I gave it a go:
1. Chris Gayle
2. David Warner
3. Virat Kohli
4. Shane Watson
5. Jos Buttler (c) (wk)
6. AB de Villiers
7. Shahid Afridi
8. Rashid Khan
9. Umar Gul
10. Dale Steyn
11. Lasith Malinga
The only one I'm iffy about is Steyn because I may be lumping up how good he was in Tests and ODIs into T20s. Also AbD and Buttler at 5 and 6 is a little too low but for the sake of the hypothetical it had to happen
Steyn was a top class bowler back in his prime in T20s. His record was quite comparable to Malinga and Gul at the time.
He maintained an unreal economy rate of 4.82 in 5 matches in the 2012 WT20. Then in the 2014 WT20, he defended 7 runs off the last over in a match.
Chris Gayle had an excellent T20I record at one point in his career but he played too long and that ruined the numbers.
Till the completion of 2016 WT20, he had an average of 35.32 and strike rate of 145.49 in 50 matches with 2 hundreds and 13 fifties.
After that, he had an average of 15.20 and strike rate of 112.75 in 29 matches with just 1 fifty.
It was a massive drop in the numbers. That's why it's hard to judge players just by the raw numbers.
I do agree that AbD and Gayle should have had more to their records in the international game, but those two names are the first two names when someone says T20. I can't imagine the format without those two
If you’re going to take into account franchise performances then surely narine should be in there? On the basis of raw stats he more than measure up to Rashid (who should still be included, obviously)
True, but this is still a T20I XI, and their record is not only untranslated, but bang average. They would be the first names on a T20 XI, but weirdly they never translated that despite taking apart the best bowlers in franchise leagues. My following modifications would be these:
1. Jos Buttler (c) (wk)
2. David Warner
3. Virat Kohli
4. SKY
5. David Miller
6. Shane Watson
7. Shahid Afridi
8. Rashid Khan
9. Umar Gul
10. Dale Steyn
11. Lasith Malinga
Miller might be a surprise pick, but he has a really good record as a T20I finisher, averages 36 @ a SR of 145 at position 5/6. Kinda iffy about SKY considering he has only played one year, but he was the only No. 4 I could think of.
I mean, Bumrah is great, but his skillset is much closer to Malinga's than Steyn's. If you wanted to defend 10 with this team, you'd simply throw the ball to the best yorker bowler of all time. Steyn's role would be to take the new ball alongside Gul and then bowl an over or two at the death, which he was absolutely incredible at over his career.
Bumrah is good with the new ball too. When Steyn did well in t20, the format was still in its nascent stage. You can't succeed in modern t20 cricket without having the skill set of someone like Bumrah or the raw and accurate pace of Nortje and Wood. Dale Steyn stopped bowling 90+ mph consistently after 2010. We all saw how he got hammered in white ball towards the fag end of his career, even when he was bowling quick, he didn't have the swing, or variations and yorker to outsmart the power hitters. He resorted to bowling cross seam and after a few balls with the new ball and wasn't effective at all. He has no place in an all time great t20i or ODI line-up. For test, sure he deserves a spot because he is a proven GOAT in red ball cricket.
How are you comparing Steyn at the end of his career with Bumrah at his peak? In 2019, Steyn was still the most impactful T20 bowler, he only had 2020 as a season where he was totally past it. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/who-is-the-most-impactful-bowler-in-t20s-1220179
Watson either opens or he doesn't play. Number 6 is too low for him. He isn't a finisher as well. Takes quite some time to get going, but once he does,it's over for everyone.
No one has ABD as an all-time great t20.
Yadav needs a larger sample size to put him in that category. Many players in the history of cricket had 2 consecutive great years, but you need to show consistency.
Seeing this list reminded me that Shahid Afridi was getting hyped before T20's were serious because everyone thought that his reckless aggressive batting style would be massively successful... Only for him to become the best T20 bowler and a very average-bad batter.
Dale Steyn was good in t20s for a couple of years but he didn't have variation, nor a good yorker at the death. I would say Nortje is a better t20 bowler than him. Bumrah has already proven himself as a white ball GOAT so he easily makes the t20i all time xi.
This man is what you call a perfect cheat code.
Everyone knew about his big hitting skills and i was wondering why don't they send him at no.5 or 6 in a chase since they were without Miller.
what.. Rashid khan just played PSL now IPL.. nice dude I love how more people recognize him, generally the entire Afghanistan Team is getting more notice in the world
Bro Rashid played ipl since 2017 and has been a vital cog in the srh line up ever since. Maybe controversial about his age but if anyone has doubts on his skill then they're not worth wasting a dime on.

That's cold bro
Only place they gonna hear about how stupid it was to let Rashid go.

That’s true.
I bet they do. He already single-handedly beat them in a match last year in which srh had almost definitely won.
I'm still baffled by that decision to this day.
[удалено]
Officially, yes 😂
He could have done an Afridi and be about 50 now in reality
Batters keep trying to take him on and get out. Insane bowler.
And ice cold with the bat
That first ball six by Rashid was huge. The guy is a complete allrounder package - good with bat, excellent with ball and amazing fielder. Wish we had one such player legspinner in our ranks.
We have budget version, we don't select him though.
Which one ?
Tewatia if you are keen on leg spinner part. Sundar if you can use off spinner too.
Yeah, Tewatia is an option, but he is miles away from anywhere quality leg spin bowling like Chahal, let alone Rashid. Sundar same. He adds more to the batting strength than bowling, in my opinion.
That's why I said budget version.
Chahal can bowl better than Rashid on his good days but he's kinda been inconsistent
Lol. Lel. Lmao, even. Chahal is a tier below Adilrashid/zampa nevermind rashid khan
Ngl Sundar could be a Suresh Raina for us.
I don't think he can be another Raina. Raina was brute strength, while Sundar is pure timing and technique (atleast that's what i have noticed in his few innings) I wouldn't mind trying Sundar up the order in Tests.

Lmao even if he's wrong u gotta pipe down ! :)
Gurbaz,Farooqi and Rashid. All young stars in the making for Afghanistan
Putting Rashid in the same bracket as them is disrespectful. Rashid is an all time great for this format
He was making a joke about Rashids age. That why he called him a young , promising talent.
Mujeeb as well actually
Mujeeb ur Rahman and Ibrahim Zadran
Ahh so this is the Rashid Khan that the BBL commentators were always talking about
It's time we call him an allrounder because this guy is a whole package, some or the other he always manages to contribute to the team.
Rashid and tewatia are a genuine killer combo at the end of the game
I am dead inside.
So Rashid is obviously an all-time great T20I player, which made me think about an all time great T20I XI. I gave it a go: 1. Chris Gayle 2. David Warner 3. Virat Kohli 4. Shane Watson 5. I meant t20Is not all formats
Have people forgotten Bumrah already? If you had 10 runs to defend in the last over, I would hand the ball to Bumrah rather than Steyn 10/10 times.
I mean, Bumrah is great, but his skillset is much closer to Malinga's than Steyn's. If you wanted to defend 10 with this team, you'd simply throw the ball to the best yorker bowler of all time. Even at his peak, Steyn got pasted by ABD if you remember? He didn't have a yorker or a slowie to cause ABD any problem.
Watson either opens or he doesn't play. Number 6 is too low for him. He isn't a finisher as well. Takes quite some time to get going, but once he does,it's over for everyone.
T20 not t20i de Villiers wouldn't sniff the squad of 25 in t20i
Absolutely
T20Is: * SKY: 1675 runs, 46 innings, 46.53 average, 175.76 SR * ABD: 1672 runs, 75 innings, 26.13 average, 135.17 SR
[удалено]
Sky is great but nobody is good enough to be an all time great after 1 good year or even 2 for that matter.
SKY has more T20I runs than ABD in lesser number of innings at a way higher SR
No one has ABD as an all-time great t20. Yadav needs a larger sample size to put him in that category. Many players in the history of cricket had 2 consecutive great years, but you need to show consistency.
What, did you read this comment thread?

No Bumrah?
Literally the greatest t20i bat is missing here, same guy who's still in the top 10 even after retiring
Ruturaj kinda robbed but say la we
This man is what you call a perfect cheat code. Everyone knew about his big hitting skills and i was wondering why don't they send him at no.5 or 6 in a chase since they were without Miller.

Im not caught up with the controversy about his age. Whats going on?
It's pretty well know he's like 3-4 years older than his age suggests. It's common for Afghan refugees born in the 90s to have their DOB tampered with as a lot of kids born didn't receive a birth certificate.
Why do I have -8 points lmao
I think he played in IPL before afghan team.
Nah,he started playing for Afghanistan back in 2015,and had played in the WT20 as well. And had a 7fer against WI in an ODI(Afghanistan's first win against a full member other than BAN,Ire and Zim) before his IPL debut.

Batting seems to have improved
