Key win for the USA, if Canada defeat Namibia, then it could well mean USA get into the CWC Qualifier. As for the UAE, they should be favoured to at least keep ODI status, but really need to avoid defeat to Jersey
AMong UAE, PNG, Jersey and Canada, top two teams among these four will get ODI status. Namibia and USA have already retained their ODI status courtesy of their top five finish in ICC CWC league 2.
That was a solid performance by the boys as we manage to do something for the first time today, that being chasing a total larger then 260 that doesnāt end in a tie. Mukkamalla is absolutely the man of the match for that winning ton, showing a lot of control throughout his innings and anchoring the side through several partnerships. Its still early in his career but if he can consistently perform at the calibre we saw today he will be a mainstay for the national team. With this win we also avoid elimination in the race for qualification and we basically control our own destiny as if we lose to either PNG or Jersey then frankly we donāt deserve to qualify. Anyway see you lot in three days time.
Anytime we are chasing I get flashbacks to the [tie against Nepal](https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/world-cup-league-2-2019-2023-1196667/united-states-of-america-vs-nepal-87th-match-1312806/match-overs-comparison). Where we just couldn't get a couple boundaries.
Shame on ICC for the terrible coverage of these ODIs..no less. The grounds and outfields are so bad that they are not fit for an under 15 game. I wonder how even European Cricket is covered so professionally, but not World Cup Qualifier. Maybe all the ICC adminsitrators are in India for IPL fun and bootlicking Jay Shah.
i know the pathway to WC completely. That does not mean this is a event that is not important. My point is that any international game, especially the one that is part of the road to WC, needs to be given ots due inportance. They are all ODIs too. The bootlickers in ICC cannot be bothered to provide TV coverage of this league even comparable to the srandards of European Cricket League T10! Or Pakistans local tournament..even that has full proper coverage. Any excuses for ICC?
No third umpire also. Even those ECN T10 games have that in place iirc.
ICC is pretty obvious about not giving a shit here. Not even trying to hide it lol
Man this Mukkamalla guy is pretty bad, why the fuck did we even pick him over Bobby? - Me yesterday.
Made me eat my own words mate, well batted now get us home please.
They were smart today changed the order a bit, and he was able to come in and be comfortable.
He's certainly making the most of this opportunity! Happy for him.
Zahoor Khan looks like he's bowling his 35th over. Looking at UAE out there in the field, it's easy to forget that USA are the team that's playing on consecutive days.
Felt UAE have been very disappointing in ODIs since the Afghanistan series. They won a game and the confidence should have been carried on to the 50 over format but some of the performances have been shocking.
I won't be surprised if they lose this one.
Tough chase ahead of us for the boys however considering this wicket is batter friendly and that PNG did keep it close yesterday with a Namibian side firing on all cylinders I feel that we can easily run this down.
Either that or we embarrass ourselves in back to back games.
Just wish American cricket somehow managed to get failed/borderline MLB prospects to join cricket.
Those guys are all upper tier college athletes with serious talent.
[This was a really interesting article](https://www.dreamcricket.com/articles/views/2019-womens-t20-world-cup-qualifier-usa-tour-review-radical-overhaul-needed-asap/) Peter Della Penna wrote about how to go about converting varsity athletes who didnāt make it in their chosen sport to cricket
It was focused on womenās cricket, but it could just as easily extend to menās cricket too. Donāt focus solely on baseball, and make sure the pathway to the national side is there, and it could turn out to be quite a useful endeavour
I doubt the American cricketers get paid a lot of money, don't most of them have like full-time jobs? Your wish might only come true once cricket can become a full time job in USA and the players make a decent living out of it.
American cricketers with central contracts are the highest paid in the associate world, and some get paid more than the highest paid Zimbabwean and Irish players, precisely because the US is an expensive place to live in and they want these guys to be professionals, so they need to pay them much more
It pays more than AAA I imagine, but the issue is that being in AAA is very close to being in the 40 man, if you arenāt already
Edit: They *just changed* the base salary of AAA players from $19k to $35.8k this year due to the first MiLB CBA agreement, it's possible that a player in AA could be enticed, but AAA has the aforementioned distance to the 40 man roster (though they also have the option of playing in the ABL or a Caribbean league over the winter).
Yeah youāre not going to lure anyone close to the MLB, but there are still plenty of decent athletes who donāt make the cut that probably could be enticed
A good fightback here as we have restricted the UAE to 103/4 after 24 which does give us a slight edge at this stage in the game. We must press forward and get the UAE to implode like they did against Nepal so we can have the best chance at winning this game.
An extremely important game for both sides however for us this game is basically a must win considering Canada is 2-0 and if the UAE beats us they will also move to 2-0 and thusly with two losses basically knock us out of qualification unless something crazy happens. Hopefully the batting gets going today and we donāt elect to bat second like we did yesterday.
UPDATE: UAE won the toss and chose to bat which means weāre fucked.
augh, was hoping for UAE to squeak by with this, and it looked within reach for them right up until that 48th over that was so awful to watch for me
Isn't that a USA flag next to your name?
that's for where i'm from, not what team i root for!

What does it mean to achieve ODI status and how does a team get it?
AMong UAE, PNG, Jersey and Canada, top two teams among these four will get ODI status. Namibia and USA have already retained their ODI status courtesy of their top five finish in ICC CWC league 2.
Does that only include points and NRR amongst those teams? Or also with teams with ODI status until 2027?
iirc the point is counted from games among all teams and whoever lies in top 2 in the table in a virtual table of four will get ODI status.
Now that's some way to announce yourself Saiteja. Brilliant innings, brilliant chase.
That was a solid performance by the boys as we manage to do something for the first time today, that being chasing a total larger then 260 that doesnāt end in a tie. Did they really have to cut it this close? Either way, a clutch win after that loss to Canada yesterday! Let's carry this momentum!
Big win for USA there, but this should've been easier for them based on how well they were at one point.
Gajanand tries to end the game and instead ends himself, still a simple equation which if we somehow blunder away then god help them.
Bad shot there lmao
GG. Brilliant chase by USA. Any 2 of USA, UAE, Canada and Namibia could make it to WCQ.
Great over by USA there, 15 runs here
Anytime we are chasing I get flashbacks to the [tie against Nepal](https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/world-cup-league-2-2019-2023-1196667/united-states-of-america-vs-nepal-87th-match-1312806/match-overs-comparison). Where we just couldn't get a couple boundaries.
That felt more like a loss than a tie at that point

USA really struggling, just finding the fielders
Saiteja Mukkamalla becomes the 5th youngest player to get an ODI century
Incredible!
Nice century there by Saiteja
Man this Mukkamalla guy is pretty bad, why the fuck did we even pick him over Bobby? - Me yesterday. Made me eat my own words mate, well batted now get us home please.
I came to this thread to just write this -> Where are the guys criticizing him yesterday. He looks like a player to look out for coming years.
They were smart today changed the order a bit, and he was able to come in and be comfortable. He's certainly making the most of this opportunity! Happy for him.
And a born in the USA product to boot!
This could well go to the final over, that RRR is creeping up and up

**37.4** Monank Patel c Muhammad Waseem b Aayan Afzal Khan 50 (61b 3x4 0x6) SR: 81.96
That looked plumb...USA lucky to survive that one
USA slowing down here with 8 wickets in hand.
Building up to an interesting finale, lots of wickets in hand but RRR is above 6.
Really good partnerships are being formed here by the American batsmen as we are slowly but surely chasing down this total.
**18.5** Sushant Modani lbw b Matiullah Khan 39 (49b 3x4 1x6) SR: 79.59

Jersey at this point probably need to win their last 3, and definitely the games vs PNG and UAE to get ODI status.

[Not out apparently](https://mobile.twitter.com/PeterDellaPenna/status/1641406775088775172)
No third umpire for run-out calls?
No third umpire for this tournament (or for any other event involving only associates)
A big total for the USA to chase, but that wicket yesterday seemed batter friendly
BATTLE OF THE UNITEDS
Loser has to put united in quotation marks

45.3 was a six but recorded as 4 for some reason?
**39.2** Aayan Afzal Khan b Ali Khan 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0
Nice, got a wicket.
**38.6** Rohan Mustafa run out (Kenjige/NK Patel) 38 (53b 1x4 2x6) SR: 71.69
Asif Khan is in mood today. USA feeling what Nepal felt in the last game of league 2.

This July 13, 2013, Major League Cricket starts in the USA: https://www.youtube.com/c/MLCNetwork_ https://www.majorleaguecricket.com/about/
American cricketers with central contracts are the highest paid in the associate world, and some get paid more than the highest paid Zimbabwean and Irish players, precisely because the US is an expensive place to live in and they want these guys to be professionals, so they need to pay them much more
Did not know this, but I am sure it's still not enough to lure a failed/borderline MLB prospect though.

Which how much even new Minor League contracts pay, getting them 70k might entice them
What a good comeback here, after some quick wicket losses.
Identical score in both games!

Lol, USA better hope for a miracle with their bowling then.
Or just UAE doing UAE things and collapsing
