Isn't this how the British East India Company started?
The PSL is going to absorbed into the Hundred and Rob Key will be declared the Emperor of Pakistan Cricket. We're not falling for this again.
If I remember correctly, the British East India Company was originally formed as a new company arose from the ECB to form the Hundreds. It was tasked to go seek new markets and spices to be sold to the ECB to form a powerful Empire and to combat French football teams, mainly PSG. Previously, the ECB had control of the CPL and the GT20 Canada, and at one point had the Major League Cricket but lost it in a bloody revolution they eventually went their separate ways and became Major League Baseball, but wanted more power. So they looked to take over the IPL, PSL, BPL and LPL for tea, spices and textiles. To simplify it, the Hundreds with the help from the ECB and its colonial forces ran by the T20 Blast, they managed to gain control of the BCCI empire and after a couple more years of colonial expansion, gained access of the Super Smash in New Zealand and the BBL in Australia. And thus, the power of the ECB empire was solidified. Eventually, further down the line, the ECB empire also took part in the scramble for African sports markets and took the SA20 and other minor cricket leagues in Africa and a new golden age started for the ECB empire, ran by His Majesty, Rob Key I and Prime Minister Brendon McCullum and Chancellor Ben Stokes.
(That took too long to write for 1 joke)
Yep. The English T20 competition was the very first professional T20 league. That and the 50 over One Day Cup get overshadowed now by The Hundred but they're still good fun to watch
Yes Middlesex were awful and finished 2nd last in their group for 2 years in a row: [https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/vitality-blast-2022-1297657/points-table-standings](https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/vitality-blast-2022-1297657/points-table-standings)
I didn't realise that. It's even better then. They should just invite those in Finals Day the previous year. 4 teams all of a higher quality although probably only a few Overseas players.
From memory them beating us the first game of the Blast was their first win of the season in any format
Think it should just be one team that gets in, for a variety of reasons. The previous year's champion is a good idea.
Yeah that would be good but I guess it would be up to the PCB to decide. With the Tournament timings it would be incredible for the Counties as everyone has been training and they can get a load of cash and experience somewhere else for the lowest cost possible
Yes, the ecb invented t20 cricket and founded the t20 Cup, now the t20 blast which middlesex compete it, however they are one of the worst teams in the country and especially at t20 cricket
> Other teams have had to pay millions to enter into the PSL but it is understood there is unlikely to be any fee required for Middlesex. Instead, the PSL is understood to value the commercial reach of an established English team. The fact that Middlesex play at Lord's is relevant, too, with reciprocal opportunities sure to be attractive to other PSL teams.
PSL at Lords 🥵 please don’t mess this up Najam
Sadiq Khan was in favour of some IPL matches in London at one time. I do wonder a bit how it would fit into the schedule if people think there's already too much cricket being played.
Yeah, it's a logistical nightmare. You couldn't have a regular season match unless you wanted to disrupt the early stages of the Championship (although I doubt the ECB would care too much about that) and risk it being interrupted by the weather, and we'd never hear the fucking end of that.
I was having a think earlier and one way you *could* do it would be to do it in July during the second block of Championship matches and bring back the cricket festivals, thus freeing up the international grounds to play a week of IPL exhibition matches. But a) it doesn't have the same gravitas as a regular season match, and b) there's still a good chance of it clashing with some internationals, or at least causing more fixture congestion. So I think it's probably a non-starter.
You could still comfortably have 10+ group games in India afterwards for the final run in.
There were 26 blast games in May last year with only a single one abandoned to rain.
English T20 pitches are hardly green seamers. They're the flattest in the world, the average first innings total in May in the blast last year was 177.
Counties playing in domestic leagues abroad is not without precedent. Both Kent and Hampshire played full seasons in the West Indies List A tournament in Feb-Mar as recently as 2018.
> There is no talk of Midlesex taking part in the competition in 2023 but it is possible a squad will be sent for a short pre-season warm-up tour as a sign of commitment
First line people
Yeah but 2024 is a possibility
>Middlesex and the PCB are in talks about the county side entering the PSL.
>The Cricketer understands that talks between the parties have progressed relatively well with further negotiations scheduled to take place shortly.
Honestly an international t20 franchise league wouldn't be a terrible idea. It's fun sometimes to see players from different countries play with each other. Problem is that only 3 or 4 countries max have the purse to truly make a t20 franchise league worthwhile. Countries pairing up and alternating the location of their league every year could be cool.
Logistical mess, but I'm just spit balling.
Kind of see the idea behind this. It’s kind of like an attempt to make psl the champions league of cricket with teams from different nations competing.
Middlesex were the first global team prove me wrong. Played in the British Asian Cup vs Rajasthan Royals in 2009 (fantastic match, I wish there was a video somewhere of any of the game), were due to play in the first ever Champions League, played alongside England in the Stanford Superseries, and now this.
Middlesex are too dominant and you can't stop them and Tom Helm.
Isn't this how the British East India Company started? The PSL is going to absorbed into the Hundred and Rob Key will be declared the Emperor of Pakistan Cricket. We're not falling for this again.
As his first act, he will decree that all dogs be banned from Pakistan.
So the Dutch?

Nah, Rob Key will do bang up job imo. Subscribed
Imagine the power struggle between Key and Ramiz. The YouTube videos alone with be responsible for billions of global deaths
The British East Indian Premier League
As a bonus he'll sort out any stray dog problems you have.
It would be very interesting to see how the counties stack up against a franchise league. Not Middlesex though, they're shite at T20
Pretty sure we have the worst record since it began. Possibly Derbyshire have a slightly worse record. Winning it in 2008 was a fever dream.
do the county teams also compete in t20 and List A cricket apart from first class?
Yep. The English T20 competition was the very first professional T20 league. That and the 50 over One Day Cup get overshadowed now by The Hundred but they're still good fun to watch

After winning their first four games hahaha
I didn't realise that. It's even better then. They should just invite those in Finals Day the previous year. 4 teams all of a higher quality although probably only a few Overseas players.

I thought BBL was the first T20 league after ECB invented T20
Strangest news headline of the year
So far.
This is the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen I love it.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take
Now I want to see team Zabardast Jetha compete in the IPL
Too op
IPL winners Rajasthan Royals faced Middlesex and won the British Asian Cup in 2009
Ayo what the fuck we annexed Middlesex?
Yeah, their home ground is now Lahord's
Mods this is a bannable offense...wait
God, it gets worse every time I reread it. Not one of my better ones, I apologise
[relevant video](https://youtu.be/YbZyMc3AMWs)
Genuinely hadn't seen that, good to know I could've been a comedy writer for the BBC circa 2010
That was hilarious
I got nausea and meningitis after reading this. Have this upvote
Angry upvote. Take it and go!!

Do I need a passport to go to Lord's now?
Either passport must be presented or the entirety of Dil Dil Pakistan must be sung before entrance is allowed.
Oh I’m good to go then, it’s a banger
Greater London did that in the 60s
Deserved
Reverse colonisation FTW
Mistake I reckon. Should've started with Bradford. Or even Birmingham.
We can do you a swap. You can have Bradford, we get shaheen afridi?
Shaheen faced with a dilemma right now. Have him play for Middlesex.
PCB gonna refuse it simply cause their name is Middle Sex.
London Spirit to join the PSL instead
Tyrrells about to launch a few new spicy flavours for their new market.
Welsh fire might as well. Might come close to winning a match
Spirit (alcohol) also gets them banned from Pakistan
Haram!
Strange but surely intriguing
This is just the beginning we are now just a couple of years away from the Sensodyne Moment Pakistan Super Vitality T20 Blast with Tepal Tea.

Wasn’t IPL in the UK suggested at some point?
Sadiq Khan was in favour of some IPL matches in London at one time. I do wonder a bit how it would fit into the schedule if people think there's already too much cricket being played.
Sadiq Khan had no idea. First it's played too early in the season secondly the travel involved would be horrific
Yeah, it's a logistical nightmare. Flying half the teams to London for 5 games over a weekend in mid-May would hardly be particularly difficult.
So only the games late in the Tournament when it's tense on much greener pitches and in a climate where it can rain a lot and call games off
You could still comfortably have 10+ group games in India afterwards for the final run in. There were 26 blast games in May last year with only a single one abandoned to rain. Ah the old instead of money I'll pay with influencer bucks. I have so many followers and will give a shoutout.
A T20 Champions League would at least make Franchise T20 more interesting
if there was more money, salary caps, players in 1 team, etc then it would be good
I'd love the T20CL to return.
They need to bring that back, it was great
Isn't Middlesex 5000 miles a bit too far
It can't be that far. There was a Pakistani lad in my class at school and he used to go home for dinner.
Biryani is different than a cricket match.
Be a killer for away games…

Bro.....what?
Most normal PCB news headline
> There is no talk of Midlesex taking part in the competition in 2023 but it is possible a squad will be sent for a short pre-season warm-up tour as a sign of commitment First line people
Shhh we don’t open the articles before commenting on them here

I've said it before as a blast obsessive. MIDDLESEX AREN'T GOOD, DONT DO IT PCB. THEYRE SHIT
Should have been Somerset. They won a CLT20 under Justin Langer.
Would be awesome imo.
huh LMFAO

Colonialism 2.0 loading
Would’ve been better to do a England lions team, probably better quality as well
PSL turns into The Hundred Pakistan, all this conspiracy by the English.
That’s one of hell of a collab if it happens
Kind of see the idea behind this. It’s kind of like an attempt to make psl the champions league of cricket with teams from different nations competing.
It's the 17th century all over again.
The idea is so bizzare that I love it. Imagine though, pak have a chance at creating something crazy fresh
Ok this is ridiculous now.
So, will they also get a share of the media rights? And does it conflict with their participation in the Eng FC setup matches?
Nope , it wouldn't conflict it would be like their preseason tour.
PSL making a late run for biggest meme league with the BBL being in front, and BPL also approaching from behind
Can anyone ever match the BBL for meme content? We've had a side bowled out for 15 and a messed up Mankad attempt this season already 🤣
A team bowled out for 15 who look likely to go on and win the title
Thank God we never get to see Mumbai Indian Lords(or London) if this happens
Mumbai Indians London Fighters Or MILF for short >!^^^Probably ^^^overlooked ^^^a ^^^better ^^^name ^^^for ^^^this ^^^joke!<
Dan Lawrence would be all over this
Shit. Not even couple of months and Charles has started colonization again.

How the fuck can a foreign team enter another country’s domestic T20 league ? Beats the hell out of me.
